    Did both. Still freezes.

    I tried toothpaste and some green stuff. Worked a little, then, nada.

    Got a small jar and used some. Didn't worked.

    And that seemed very unoriginal for a solution :\

    I heard that if you stick it halfway in the toilet, and then flush the toilet (while you're holding on to the half that is not submerged) it will get rid of the scratches. Then turn it around and do the same thing for the other half.

    ...How's that for a creative solution??
