My computer screen is horribly messed up.

I decided to switch my monitor, and this is what ended up happening. I really don't know how to explain it. Whenever I have it in the 1280x720 setting (which is what it's supposed to be in), it doesn't fill the entire screen, but if I switch the setting (which makes everything either stretched out, or extremely squished) it does fill the entire screen. I really don't know how to fix this. >:

 

That's...interesting. I've never heard anything like that. Most monitors are plug-and-play, but this one may need a driver. Google "eMachines Monitor Drivers"

 

Use the buttons on the monitor to adjust the size.

 

I've tried doing that. I can only find buttons to move it horizontally or vertically, and whenever I move it horizontally, the black space goes from the right side of the screen to the left.

 

(i just remembered this)This may work for you because it did for me when I used that exact same monitor(high five!) with my laptop. You have to go to the desktop, right click, click "screen resolution", and click the "Detect" button. It should find a different monitor. Select and click "apply". see if that does anything

 

Oh. I figured it out guys. I feel so silly. I had it in 59 Hz instead of 60 Hz. Thank you anyway. <3
