I don't like smartphones. They're designed with components that will almost assuredly fail in some way within 2-3 years. Why do they do this? To time obsolescence of the previous generations with the release of new ones. So they sell you an unreliable product and expect you to buy a new one from them at a higher price than the older more reliable models. Disgusting. And that attitude, started by a certain fruity company, has been adopted to the point where the component makers only make the sub par products so the electronics used in planes have to be replaced and/or maintained more often to ensure they are appropriately safe meaning your plane tickets got just a tiny little bit more expensive as well. Then there's the design. The flat face with touch screen is awful. I hate touch screens in general because I think that a permanent discretized button or key is more reliable and doesn't leave me with a damaged and dirty screen from everyday use and transport. But Jiku, you can just spend even more money on screen protectors, or even better, a case for it because you can't drop the things either. See where this is going? These things are designed to be money sinks, from the physical form factor to the data plans they peddle, everything is about taking your money and giving you as little for it as possible. Disgusting. Then they have the gall to call these things smart in spite of all of this. These things are basically an insult to your intelligence.

If it's not obvious, I don't have a smart phone and hopefully never will. But to those who have them an like them, good for you, I don't really begrudge you the appreciation for the increased functionality over a simple phone, but I think it's sad that kids are growing up not knowing what being offine is like. I think it's sad that some people are struggling to make phone payments right along with their other troubles. I think it's sad that in the current tech environment durability and reliability have gone from secondary design aspects to afterthoughts if that. So, it's nice to have a nice phone, but it's better to not have to give up things for it.

My mom has a flip phone... Loves the thing. She refuses to get a new one because she'd have no idea how to use it. lolz...

She keeps on saying her phone is from the 1980's.

My phone is absolutely garbage, which is comical because my job is selling phones+contracts to people, you'd think I'd get myself a decent one.

iPhone are in my experience very breakable. I've dropped my Galaxy S3 several times without problems, which is a consideration.

iPhone 5's beat S3's and S4's in drop tests... iPhone 4's have a ******ed glass back and can be broken from winking at the front facing camera too quickly.

Oh okay, I had an iPhone 4 so that probably influences my opinion. But thus far my S3 has proved pretty sturdy

Guess it wasn't my choice anyways, for now I got another flip phone.
Not as good as my old one, but it works I guess.
