Lately, Nintendo of America has been treating the Mother series like crap. And usually, they're biased towards all first-party published games. In case you're wondering, the Mother games are an RPG series (it's a trilogy actually), and only one of their games actually reached North American shores. It was called Mother 2, aka, Earthbound. You may have heard of it. It was released for the Super Nintendo in 1994. The other two games, Mother and Mother 3 have not been localized. (Actually, a group of fans bought an auctioned cart of Mother 1, and did a poorly done unofficial English translation of the game. They posted it on the internet as a ROM under the name of "Earthbound Zero"). Never heard of it? Blame NoA, who refuse to bring it over here. Because Earthbound's graphics didn't exactly compare to games like Final Fantasy III (VI) at the time, sales were poor, and now they refuse to take another gamble with another Mother game. American RPG gamers are seriously missing out. If you've ever played Super Smash Bros. or Smash Bros. Melee, you'll see that there's a character named Ness. 9 out of 10 people have no clue where he's from. Well now you know. Yes, the bat-swinging pshycic boy is from Earthbound. So the point of this topic is to see if anyone actually heard of the series. I don't want to be one of the few people that love it (well, there is a huge fanbase at starmen.net, but still....) I mainly want others to know about Mother 3, since it's the most recent game of the series, and plus, a Smasher named Lucas (he's been confirmed for Brawl) originated from there.
Earthbound is easily one of the awesomest RPGs ever, and it's greatness hasn't aged a bit since 1994, I can still play it today and love it <.< I haven't played Earthbound Zero, but I'm eagerly awaiting the Fan Translation of Mother 3 (www.mother3.fobby.net) And you're right, Nintendo needs to realize that Earthbound is like a cult classic of video gaming and they need to treat it right <.< The only thing that gives me hope that Maybe Nintendo isn't completely ******ed is Surfer Girl's post on December 25th http://softrockhallelujah.blogspot.com/2007/12/december-twenty-fifth-things.html
i know everything u just said and to tell u the truth Mother games dont apeal to me anywayz... tho id have to say i liked Ness in Smash Bros. for the homerun game ^__^
