Moogles no longer Moogles

Moogles were always cool and sometimes kinda comic but ever since the new FF games, they've received a dramatic makeover, and now they look nothing like their old selves
the awesome bat-winged-cats-with-a-pom-pom we've all grown to love have changed... a lot...
personally, i dislike the new "Moogles"
what do you say?

 

They are no longer Moogles, those things that are allegedly the moogles in the new games, fail hard! The moogles from the earlier games are the best ones! <3 I don't see why they had to change them =/

I love the old moogles, there cute and I'm to used to them to accept the new ones :/

Agreed. I don't like the new moogles at all. The old ones, are like awesome and WAY better.

I so agree here. I like the older moogles. They were cute and at least KH still has the moogles right. I blame FFT as it drew out moogles differently and for some reason that trend went to FFTA and to FFXII and some in FF XI. I miss the good old moogles and do hope they will go back to how they were. These to me just aren't the same. =:/

I had to post the pics just so everyone knew how disturbing it was. It's really a let down to see how they've altered. I knew someone else besides me would say "NOOOO!" (Imitate a Luke Skywalker scream after Vader says he's Luke's pa) when they saw those. The proper moogles need to be brought back!

Well, the 'new' designs of the Moogles are not really 'new' at all, they date back to 1997, and the only games that altered the appearance of the Moogles was the Final Fantasy Tactics series, and thus the only games that have the so-called 'new' Moogles are the FF games that are directly tied to the Final Fantasy Tactics universe, the land of Ivalice (Final Fantasy Tactics, Tactics Advanced, and FFXII)

The only games that use the 'new' design use it for a very specific reason (taking place in the land of Ivalice, where the Moogle tribe branches off into the species you see) and as such are the only games that use it.

The 'old' Moogles were never taken away, and the 'new' Moogles were never meant to replace them, they are simply 2 separate tribes of the same species, and you happen to be playing the games that canonically use the 'Mogs' design

And Repliku, the image you posted from FFXI was the TaruTaru, not the Moogles, the Moogles in FFXI were housekeepers and looked like this:



As you can see they are exactly like the 'classic' Moogles.

 

I can see why they are like that in FFXII since they are like the versions in FFT and the game is based on the same world so it makes sense.

Well the series is maturing, so the comic looking moogles will look weird. So they are maturing with them.

 

Yeah, I researched that and found I made a mistake with the FF XI one but the other moogles from the FFT and FFTA are legit and FF XII and well, I hate the design. It stinks. Then again, I wasn't a big fan of those games either but to advance characters in as many classes as I could to see how they'd turn out. I really didn't care much for the actual stories.

I am glad FF XI has Moogles right and KH still does. I'm hoping in FF XIII they go back to the standard design too if they are in the game. FF XIII and the counter game to it really are looking good so far and I can't wait to get it. Thanks for pointing out my error.

 

for the love of god SE, KEEP THE ORIGINAL MOOGLES! THE NEW 1S SUCK!

These are not 'new' designs, they were never meant to replace the 'old' designs, they are 2 separate species. The so-called 'new' Moogles are specifically tied to games taking place in Ivalice and nowhere else, so you can stop complaining because these 'new' Moogles are only present in the Final Fantasy Tactics universe. Square has never had any intention to make the alternate species of Moogle a standard design, and have only ever made them to be in the Final Fantasy Tactics

I'm not yelling or angry, this is simply bolded to make the point more noticeable

Regardless of them not being as favorable to your tastes as the 'original' design, the 'Mog' species should still be respected and not be referred to as 'suck' just because you can't appreciate them properly >.>

The old ones goes all the way back to FFIII! I find them more cute and adorable. I even drew one in class, making it say "kupo" in hiragana and katakana, the basic Japanese characters.

Look at this ANF.

 

The left design is the "Mog", the right is the "Moogle"

As you can see, the main difference is that the Mog are thinner with pointed Rabbit-like ears and wear clothes, whilst the Moogle are chubbier with bear-like ears and often have naught more than a satchel in terms of clothing

To say one is 'teh suck' and that 'it stinks' is a severe overreaction over something most of you probably weren't alive all that long to be that attached to regardless. Trying to justify saying that one is horrible and that the other is great is like trying to spot the differences between Turtle and a Tortoise and calling it significant

 

I totally agree with you Muffin, calling it the old style is inaccuarate, not at the fact it's a different species but the fact it's been around for about 10 years. =/
