Monotone Rainbows

Amy sighed, "Hey, smile. Hakuna Matata." She said picking the phrase out from midair hating to see him down. She sat down on the sofa and guestured for him to join her, "Are you okay now? Don't beat yourself up. So, what's your story?"

 

Cole sighed and sat down, "Well, nothing good, I've been wandering the around here for a week, switching from place to place. It's been hell, what about you?"

 

"Similar story really, managed to find this place though. But that doesn't matter, we're here now and we can make a fresh start. So, how come the rain was hurting you so much?" She asked him curiously. She fiddled with the TV remote to give her hands something to do.

 

Sam suddenly realized how small her apartment was too with Risit in it. "It's no problem. I really have nothing better to be doing..." Realizing how odd that sounded, she clammed up and gestured to the lonely looking couch, "Sorry, but you'll be staying on the couch if the rain doesn't let up. The shower's over there." she gestured to the door beyond her bed.

 

Cole raised his hand and generated a small ball of electricity. "I have control over electricity, and there's electricity inside my body, now, what happens when electrical appliances touch water?"

 

Sam tilted her head to the side, trying to remember. "No, I don't think so...I didn't really get any good looks at anybody's faces when walking down the street." Sam was one more to keep to herself than examine everyone. "I didn't expect to know anyone around here. I can't...really remember much." Sliding out of her coat, she dropped it to the floor. She felt oddly exposed in her white tank top and jeans. She fell back onto her bed, her cheeks burning as she realized how odd she must seem. "So...have you ever met anyone...like us? With, what I assume you mean by having powers, I mean."

 

Amy raised an eyebrow, "Ah, I see your point. But you've got to admit that is pretty awesome. I can't do anything half as good as that." She said shaking her head, she flipped the remote over in her hand and turned the TV on, it seemed to be in the middle of a kung fu film, just before the main fight scene.

 

"Why? What can you do?" Cole asked, glancing at the Kung Fu film on the television. He clenched his fist and the ball of electricity exploded, leaving no sparks or anything behind.

 

Amy raised her eyebrows at the electricity ball before turning to look at the TV, when the main fight sequence had just started. "I can mimic things" She said simply, as she watched the fight sequence her eyes turned purple before she stood up and copied the kung fu exactly.

 

Cole's eyes widened as he watched Amy do a triple somersault kick. "Woah! That's actually pretty cool y'know!" He exclaimed, clapping.

 

Amy laughed, stopping copying the actions but still watching the fight on screen with purple eyes, "Thanks, glad you think so. Problem is I have to see someone do something before I can do it, I can't copy powers. I still think yours is better."

 

"Meh, does it really matter? Your powers might be specifically needed and so might mine, so in a way, they're equal."

 

Amy nodded, "I guess so, why don't we stick together for a while? Then we can help eachother with our powers, whatever we need to do" She said smiling.

Cole nodded and smiled back. "Yeah, sure."

BIC: As Rachel reached the abandoned apartment, she felt as though she shouldn’t have been there. "That's strange," she said to herself. "Even coming here five times hasn't stopped that feeling." She unlocked the door with the key that she found under the doormat when she found the apartment. "At least everything is the same way it was a couple of hours ago," she told herself. She couldn't stop thinking that she had been there before because as soon as she went inside, it felt like home. Like she lived there before the incident at school. She can only hope for a better tomorrow...
