Money the root of all evil?

In my opinion, blaming the world's evil on money is just a way to allow ourselves to feel good and think that it's not our fault for how the world is today. Money is just valuable, therefore it is a target for humanities greed. It is not the money that causes evil, but the bad choices that humans make as a whole that causes evil. Blaming something other than yourself is something that I see as the easy way out.

i don't think that money is EVIL in all ways. Yes, the murders, poverty, greed all came from money. But if everyone had money, or was rich, our natural resources will be gone, other resources, it will then make money useless.

then again, if no one got money, it would seperate the world and countries even more. and it will also decrease the ammount of stuff we have in this world.

all I mean by those statements is that money is very important to the world. And even though there are consiquences, its still good.

I think it is the root of all evil. Why do theives come home to steal? Money. Why do you think people cheat on one another? Money. Why do you think people are selling items at extremely high prices? Money. It's all about money that the peopl wants to make themselves happy.

 

Well why do they want money? In any possible world the currency of value could've been anything, even sand. The point is that our instincts have evolved from times where greed and hording were essential to survival.

Money is an arbitrary placeholder for material value in the current state of the world. Considering all possible worlds our currency could have been anything. It is our own instinct for survival and the fact that we associate currency as a secondary motivator for survival that makes money a very wild thing. Because it literally makes the world go round, we've deemed it as a "necessity" we must compete for. I envy the homeless that have no desire to beg for money in the streets. From society's general perspective they're the crazy ones. Ironic that we're the ones in the capitalistic rat race.

 

It is not money that is the problem. It is the greed and selfishness of some people that is the issue. They take and take, wanting more than they have always. Money is simply a way of putting a 'price' on something. If people steal 'money' it is to obviously buy or get something else they want. Money itself is only as valuable as what you can get with it. In the end, it always comes down to the heart of a person and what lies in it. If a person is selfish and narcissistic, it's all about that person and nothing else is going to matter.

If there was no money system, we would still have people collecting things and trying to get more and more. Also, who judges how much is too much then? Also, people cheat for a number of reasons to include sex. People are the problem, not the money.

The original quote was "For the love of money is the root of all evil"

Its not money itself thats the problem, its people who put money before everything else that cause all the problems.

Just look at the tabacco company, or the oil company... and you will see what I mean...

I don't think money is the root of all evil... in fact I believe it's keeping everything together... without it we will be stealing from each other and probably killing for food and water. With money we have opportunitys of what we want to be..use money for going out on dates...maybe starting a family etc.... and sure there are nasty people who will do nasty things... but there the low type of people that never get anything

 

I agree with this entirely people will still be greedy whether or not money ever existed.

I don't think money is the "root" of all evil.
Some people are evil b/c that's who they are.
And there could also be other reasons than money to be evil.

I don't believe so but money is linked with suffering.It is peoples thirst for more which causes suffering and is what can lead to things of "evil" as you say.
