Even if you ignore/deny the existence of the prequels Anakin would still exist... he's mentioned by name in Episode VI.

Also, I've seen it, it is pretty sick, but still not enough to get me to buy an Xbox. I'll stick with my free online play & more comfortable controller. P:

For all intents and purposes, that Anakin is a separate entity.

I disagree, actually. Particularly with George Lucas changes to/butchering of the original trilogy, they seem to be trying to create a mindset that Anakin Skywalker died after the lightsaber fight at Mustafar--hence, Hayden Christensen being slapped in instead of the older man they got to portray the, now deceased, Anakin. The implication here is that he fell to the dark side & became a machine, that Anakin Skywalker ceased to be and Darth Vader was born. This is Palpatine's logic. However, this is contrary to the major plot point at the end of Episode VI, where Vader kills the Palpatine and is, on his request, unmasked by Luke. This implies that Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader are one in the same, that the good in him--the "Anakin" in him, if you will--always rested inside, that man was able to overcome machine, that there is always hope for those who have fallen, even those who have, seemingly, fallen the furthest. Not only is this a core tenet of the Jedi Order, it's an essential theme in the Star Wars universe. Furthermore, though Anakin's portrayal in the prequels is disappointing, his actions and characters are explored, represented, and justified in the (more satisfying) EU. Divorcing Anakin and Vader (or even prequel!Anakin and original!Anakin) in that manner robs the saga of important themes. I understand the prequels are kind of shit but we can't just ignore them... or, well, you can but yeah.
