Mirror to Dreams

Raven held her hand before herself and it glowed with a soft light green light. Now I can see a bit better.

 

The creature lunged at her and caught her ankle as Lavara stepped to the side, forcing her to fall. The next second she shrieked a shrill note that filled the hallway with a blinding light. The creature seemed to try and hide but didn't let go of her ankle, it's grip even tightened. She whistled and cried note after note. It seemed to work until the note finished and it held tighter.

 

Raven noticed the light and ran towards Lavara. She focused the magic she had in her hand and made it wrap around the shadow.

 

Lavara, noticing the creature only hurt while the note lasted, took a deep breath and concentrated on holding the shrill note for as long as she could, hoping it would give Raven the time to get rid of it.

 

Raven shut her eyes and tried pushing the shadow back into the wall like she'd seen the other one do before.

 

Lavara shut out the world and closed her eyes. The note stayed exactly where she wanted it and she kept it up.

 

Raven pushed as hard as she could with her magic against the creature. Come ON! She backed the shadow against the wall. She let the magic drop and then summoned a new spell to push the shadow into the wall.

 

Lavara kept her note up. The creature finally let go of her ankle and disapeard. She didn't notice (having closed her eyes).

 

Raven let her spell die. She went over to Lavara and helped her up. "Another one." She said more than asked.

 

Lavara opened her eyes and let the note die away. Standing up she frowned, "Uh, yeah." Gods, since when do I need help...

 

"That was close.... What do they want?" Raven thought aloud.

 

Lavara hesitated but it wasn't in her nature to keep things to herself, like this anyway. "You guys?" she suggested.

 

Raven lowered her eyes. "... You're probably right... We should leave..."

 

"No, that's cowardly." Lavara said, seriously. "Let's go back and we'll talk, okay?"

 

"This school isn't about being brave." Raven stated. "I don't want to endanger everyone."

 

"Raven, what will you do if you leave? Go somewhere else everytime something bad happens? Run away? Or do something about it. It's not your fault your twins, and it's not a bad thing. It's a beautiful thing, you should be proud, not afraid." Lavara retorted, completly honestly.

 

Raven sighed. "I don't like to run away, but I don't want to be the reason for all this."

 

Lavara, who had been taking Raven very seriously, rolled her eyes, "Just because your the cause doesn't mean it'll go away when you leave." she said, logicly.

 

"But nothing has happened at this school when twins weren't here." Raven protested. "All the legends say that it's because twins were at the school that the 'problems' happened."

 

"None said that they stopped when twins left." Lavara pointed out. "Oh this is pointless," she said suddenly angry, "If you want to leave, then leave. We'll, the school, deal with it without you." she was mad at herself for being angry at Raven but she couldn't help it.
