Ah, cool. I thought my world had a depressing lack of flatland but awesome mountains.

Is this a bug, or is one of my mods messing up, because around trees, there are lots of holes in the ground. Just weird, deep holes. They're pretty awesome, but, strange.

I believe the world generation thing is a bit buggy for the pre-release.

Hmm, it would seem to be so. They're somewhat useful for the time being, as they occasionally take me deep underground.

Also, if anyone didn't know, to make the two new iron and glass items, Iron Bars and Glass Panels, do this.

    B = Glass/Iron Ingot

    BBB
BBB That will craft an iron bar/glass panel.
The panel is like a half piece of glass, and looks more like a window.
Iron bars are like cell bars.

I get these too, only they're trenches. One of them took me to the ruins.

What kinds of things can you get in the ruins?

Their's an Abandoned Mineshaft that has things made of wood, and spiders in it, and their's ruins that are made by cracked stone, stone, and mossy stone.
In ruins, nothing useful at the moment I believe.
In mineshafts, you can find stuff like iron and gold in chests.

I haven't found any ruins yet, and the features page doesn't mention them. However, this might be part of the new changes to biomes like the aforementioned Mountain size cap.

Also, if you find a large gash missing in the land, it's just a ravine which is also added.
They usually go pretty deep, and they sometimes interfere with MineShaft spawning

I believe that the spiders in the mineshaft are smaller and can poison you. Also the clouds don't go through buildings.

Yes, they can poison you when they attack.
When poisoned, your life bar turns yellow.
Also, don't eat rotten flesh that you get from zombies. It poisons your food meter.
Everyone knows how to sprint, right?
    Double tap W.

I have a lot of ravines then...

Also, does anyone know how to restore health? Or do you have to eat food to completely restore your hunger bar, then food will heal you?

Get your food bar all the way up, and your life will restore slowly.

Yeah, the raw food thing's pretty annoying, but also something I'd been wishing for. Anyway, I found a mineshaft and now I'm slowly dying from disease.

Okay, so since NPCs will be introduced in 1.9, does anyone know the planned 1.9 release?

    They aren't making a 1.9 update, I don't think anyways.

They are. That's the reason for the XP bar.
    It'll have a use in 1.9.
Also, I believe that NPCs will be present in the finished 1.8 product.

And did anyone notice that cows drop beef now?

Really? This is just part 1 of the Adventure update. They originally planned for it to be all together in 1.7, then they delayed it to 1.8, and apparently they're including some extra Adventure features along with other things in 1.9.

I did. I was all like "yay"

I didn't know they were. Well, I hope it'll be released soon.

Do you lose health if the food meter is empty?

Yeah, and it's really annoying, but at least all of the animals drop meat.
