Xe54, please stop making posts about 'necrobumping' here as in the end it's just spam. In the Discussion area, other than the Current News section, people are able to necrobump, which can be seen in the rules here, with no worries as long as there is a solid response and reason to do so. In the Spam Zone and a few other areas, necrobumping is frowned upon but in the Discussion area, it's not a bad thing to revive an old debate, issue etc.

If someone wants their mind to be read, go ahead and let 'em.....but if you would do it against their will, then its not ethical.

Basically its when they Rape you as in toy/abuse/defile.....as with mind Rape....I believe that it's toying and abusing your thoughts.

    I believe this is unethical.

Mainly because of the effects it could cause on a person willing to and even worse on someone not willing to.

Since the mind has so many recurring thoughts...who isn't to say that a subcouncious thought will not be exposed?

A person could even begin to doubt themselves...the mind is a tricky thing.

The Chilly Academic says 'Experiment away!'. I think it is ethical...may not be a popular practice when in the opinion of others, but I personally see nothing wrong with using it to probe the corners of someone's innermost thoughts. I find it interesting, and rather informative.

Well, to be honest in my opinion, open opinion really. It's only for certain people, say for instance, people who have no mind, or, rather, people who think they have super powers...crazy people no doubt, its not ethical, but not probable either. We can't be sure if it's true or not really, just only see if it's correct.

agreed. I always saw minds as peoples personal space for them only, but that's just me. But the exception for the crazy people I can understand.

I think if there is a good reason for it then it is... nevermind, scratch that! I don't think it's ethical. Even if they use it for a good reason. It's only a matter of time until they abuse it for stupid puposes...

    The webpage cannot be found???
But, I don't think that you should just peek into people's minds. Remember our right to privacy? Of course there are times in which your right to privacy is discarded by the government... but that's a different story.

I think it is ethical because I'd want to know if I was standing next to someone who could hurt me.
You never know what people are thinking, and haven't you ever wondered?

I think that mind reading should be fine, as long as it is kept to the right people. I don't want to see advertising companies with that kind of power, but I suppose that it is inavoidable at this point.

Sometimes things like this are better left unknown, if you know what I mean. But yeah, it should be used when it's absolutly necessary. Like to unconver the thoughts of a suspect of a crime scene, or to determine the thoughts of those who are suffering from mental sickness... Other then that, it should probably be left alone.

No, I don't think it's ethical. People will always try to abuse and take advantage of something like that. Even if it would only be used for criminal investigations, I still think that there is always a risk that someone could take advantage of something like that. Also, what's in our minds is a privacy and should only be exposed with our own choosing.
