Vista runs like absolute crap for me. Microsoft spends 5 years making this and I waste $70 on it. I think this Youtube video expresses my views on it.

Everything freezes, no programs I need have drivers for Vista (including my video card, so everything looks crappy and nothing runs), and worst of all IT DOESN'T EVEN HAVE WORD? WHEN DID WORD GO OUT OF STYLE?!

Seriously, if anyone has XP stay with it.

    Strange.

I just recently bought Vista with a nice HP computer and it works perfectly, and it came with Microsoft Word lol.

Seriously. Even with all the software it runs, it's still really nice.

=/ This is why I avoided getting it too early... I knew there'd be problems. lol

Oh and also, a service pack is being released for Vista in January or something. Should fix a lot of problems, I think.

Well here is a word of recomendation, if you buy new computers do not by them from a cheap company buy them from either Dell, Gateway, or HP. I cant say much about the problems considering I have a XP. -_-

Well I bought the Upgrade, so that explains a little. My computer isn't old... I wouldn't consider it new. And thanks Darky, I was wondering when the SP was coming.

and to add to this, why would a huge company release something so crappy to people and they know it wont work within a few months?

XP had the same issue (only it wasn't quite AS bad).

XP had 2 service packs, and Vista will prolly have 3. =/ Since XP is like 10 years old, and Vista is already getting one within a year..... lol >_>

Vista will be ideal sometime later... just not now. =D

It's all part of business. They have to get new products out by a deadline and before rivals. They need the money. So they release the system when it's useable but still has bugs. In this time people report bugs and they test it themselves and build up a Service Pack 2 to patch the original operating system.

Personally, I'd say that if your Vista is farking up...get a MAC.
    <<
    Vista =/= Mac...
    BUT!
    Vista < Mac =D
I've heard they're pretty much the same, except for a few little things.
Gates copied MAC on most of it's features ftew
    <<

    EDIT:
My bro has Vista, and he only uses it for MSN and LW
    xD
It works fine for him...it's just REALLY slow

Vista is new. Even though I'm a Mac user, I'm aware that it's always been the case with Windows that you'll need to give it time (at least a year or two) before the damn OS stabilizes itself.

XP was a piece of crap for a long time before it became a more viable OS to use over 2000.

I personally still think 95' was the best OS Windows ever had in terms of stability and reliability, but oh well.

In response to the "Microsoft copied Apple" stuff, I heard that Microsoft were once together in making computers and a lot of the things that Vista so called "copied" from Macs were plans they had in the days when they were just one company. Not sure if it's right, though. :/

Microsoft and Apple have rivalry. When you have rivalry, things like "he copied", or stole ideas come up =\ Whether it's true or not...

Well, XP was like this in the beginning as well. Vista tbh sucks. But if you get a good HP with it included, I'm sure it'll go with all your pleasures.

Yeah, if you're buying a computer made for Vista it's great. Otherwise it's just plain horrid.

Well... it will either get better, like XP, or everything else will become obsolete or no longer supported by Microsoft. :\

    Vista

I just got a new computer with vista loaded. My old computer was a good friend to me. I knew what was what on it,and really got to know how to use it well. Now I find myself learning basic computer all over again, and would have been better not to have known anything before. But ever increasingly more I'm finding out that what's wrong is my own fault. It's an advanced program, and I'm really still back in the stone ages. Others have said they love it,maybe I'll say the same some day.

I've worked with Vista on other people's computers I fix sometimes and it seems fine to me, but if your system is not really current, Vista will cause some issues. It seems far better to me to buy Vista on a new computer system than to try upgrading to it from XP. I'm sure a good Service Pack, that we seem to need for all computer programs to work how we want to, is what will fix a lot of this and one is due out soon as someone mentioned so perhaps that will resolve some issues people are having. I have to actually upgrade my home computer more before I get Vista on that but it seems fine to me when I use it at work.
