Michael phelps? smoking?

Michael phelps 8 olympic champion is caught smoking! a similar incident happened to him at the age of 19 when he was found guilty for DWI and michael had only this to say " ive already learned my lesson " but here he is again.

 

Smoking cigerettes?
Well he is older than 18 so no problem there
but that's sort of dumb since he's a swimmer and uses his lungs more than most people.
Or smoking marijuana?
That's not so bad but still bad publicity

Well then I don't think he's so much of an American icon anymore. I mean, the guy's a swimmer. Swimming is basically holding your breath, and going fast, while holding your breath. It's kinda stupid to smoke really. I guess he probably thinks since he already won a gold and broke a ton of records, including some he set himself, that tis okay to smoke. I never really cared about him anyway, but his family must be disappointed.

 

He's a college student, no matter what publicity, fame, or whatever, they're going to do stuff they regret.

Apologies to anyone who doesn't, I wasn't trying to categorize, in college, I was completely clean.

But kids and young adults will be like that sometimes, and yes, it was stupid to do it in a party, I'm betting a kid got a fortune for that picture. But it shouldn't affect him otherwise.

I dont get why is such a big deal...Nobody has figured out that the picture was taken before his 8 gold winnings in China. That was in the past, and it should stay there.

 

I really don't see what the big deal is. Just because he won some medals now he has to be all uptight about everything he does? If he was a normal 23 year old, no one would give a shit. I bet you if you asked your parents or any older person, they would tell you they've smoked pot at least once. (Actually, I asked my mom and she complained that all it did was put you to sleep. O.o) Let the guy live a little, just because he tried doesn't automatically mean he's gonna be a pothead. Besides, he was drunk anyway, or so said the news.​

 

Sure, but famous people are scrutinized for everything they do. Phelps should know better to smoke pot, even once, because it'll end up coming out like it did recently, and everyone's gonna freak out over it. It's not fair how much pressure is put on celebrities, but that's the way things are, and celebrities know how the public will react when they do things like this, so they have to be on their best behavior.

Anyway, I heard about this about a week ago from my friend. She hates Michael Phelps, so she was overjoyed. She says if he's charged with smoking pot, he may not be able to be in the next Olympics. What do you guys think about that. I know he made a mistake, but that's a pretty bad punishment for just smoking pot, isn't it?​

He won't be banned from the Olympics. Since when does smoking Mary Jane improve your sports performance? He would only be banned if it was a performance enhancing drug.

 

Well, he's been banned from swimming in any events for three months and already lost a sponsor because of it, Kellogg's.

The thing is, he is a role model, so when something goes wrong, it's a huge deal with the media and everyone else, most of the time.

Also, if you're famous and want to do anything wrong...

Don't for the love of god do it in public, the guy who took the photo probably made out like a bandit with the publishing.

 

As much as I would like to say leave the guy alone. He is constantly being watched by not just media and fans, but the world over. He was supposed to be a role model for people to look up to, but instead he is found smoking weed. What a great message to send to little kids... " You can win medals AND smoke weed like me, Michael Phelps!" I think not.

 

What people think about him is dependent on what they think about weed.
I used to be a very frequent smoker, now just occassionally and i personally think there's nothing wrong with it. It didn't ruin my liife like people say it would, I have some of the highest test scores in school and my life is still on track.
I think if he wants to ok, the only problem is the picture gettin around since smoking is illegal but he's not the one that took it, he's not at fault.
Just because someone is a celebrity they have to keep up a certain image
that is bullsh*t in my opinion. Weed always relaxes me, that guy just won 8 gold medals on top of the ones he already won, he needs a break.
Whatever he does in his own free time is HIS business.
It may be stupid considering he is a SWIMMER and needs his lung but that's up to him.

 

I really don't think it matters. Christ, he just won a shit load medals, excuse him for wanting to hit up the bong once in a while.

 

i do agree with that one, except when he does it so often that is interferes with his health and training. but every so often isnt a bad thing, trust me! :D

I was really dissapointed with him...and seriously!! Why would he smoke in a large pipe..can't he use smaller stuff...
