    Hospitalized for a heart attack, not proven dead. The only people saying he's dead is TMZ and some random hip-hop blogs. As far as I'm concerned he's on Tupac status.

    EDIT: Never mind, I heard it was confirmed. Still on Tupac status IMO though.

    according to Headlines News, UCLA has confirmed he is in a coma = not dead.

    EDIT

    Now HLN is saying the LA Times has confirmed his death.

    But some people say he's in a coma and other people say that there hasn't been a report yet and blah, blah.

    More confirmed reports came in just now saying that he's dead guys. I have to admit I liked his older music (back when he was a kid) better than his newer stuff but its sad all the same.

    He was an icon for many people and it is a huge loss for music. Was he my favorite musician, no. But the fact is, he was respected in the eyes of a generation.

    Just heard about this, and sure enough, it's the first new thread I see on here. I've been running around the house, calling friends and family to tell them. I can't believe it. It's like when Steve Irwin died. How am I going to listen to Thriller ever again? How old was he, anyway? Pretty young, right?

    Not confirmed on BBC therefore not confirmed. I won't believe it until they have confirmed it. Although, they say that several respected news organisations have confirmed that he is dead.

    Big crowd outside though.
