Now, I'm not a huge fan of the Star Wars movie. I think they're fun, but I didn't rage over the prequels like a lot of fans do. So, when Episode VII was announced, I stayed neutral about it? That being said, I'm now excited for this movie. This guy is behind two of my favorite films from the last decade, and bringing someone like him into a franchise like this could only mean good news.

    What do you guys think?

Well, Toy Story 3 was a pretty good movie, and if that guy wrote it, than it'll probably be good. I just really don't want them to mess it up.
I'll probably still like it either way, but I won't get my hopes up.

I'm pretty neutral, if even excited, about the new movies. The prequels were bad, I admit that, even though they're a bit of a guilty pleasure (I love Episode 2 ok). To see a new director's, and even writer's, take on the Star Wars universe is something I'm really excited to see. Even if the movies are as bad as the prequels, I'll still watch them and enjoy them simply because they are Star Wars.

That said, when I first heard Toy Story 3 I cringed a little--don't get me wrong, I loved the movie--but I think part of the failing of the prequels was their attempt to appeal to children (Jar Jar Binks, mainly). Star Wars is a great series because it appeals to all age groups, but I think some of the older audiences were alienated by this. However, Toy Story 3 kept its appeal for children while still producing (tbf) quite a profound movie for the older audience. And Little Miss Sunshine was just fantastic. I'm interested to see what he will do.

When I first heard the news about Disney buying LucasFilm, and that they were going to have another Star Wars movie, I was disappointed, and had the typical reaction that everyone else did about how Disney would turn it into some kiddies deal. The more I thought about it, though, the more it appealed to me; they owned Marvel, and hell, nothing has been jacked up about the recent movies that have come out, and I'm pretty sure the future Marvel movies are going to be fine.

I have similar thoughts about this new Star Wars movie, too. Now that I've heard that Michael Arndt is going to write it, I really, really hope that they don't mess this one up. Toy Story 3 is one of my favorite movies of any of the Pixars and of all the movies I've seen, but I'm just a little worried here. I hope that they keep the idea that they should appeal to all age groups, and not just the kids in mind.
