Elijah pushed himself and Elena up into the closest tree with a blast of wind. He let go of her hand and glided to another tree, closing the distance between himself and Terry. Their plan was the usual: Elijah would go in directly and Elena would stay in the shadows to help him out. "You looked a lot better when you had tree branches blocking your face." Elijah jeered as he flipped out of the trees and landed in front of Terry. He sized up his opponent; uncomfortable with his challenge now that he was face to face with it. He kept his arms loose by his side, ready to move when he needed to.
Way to go. Elena rolled her eyes; she never liked how Elijah went right in, head first like that. She positioned herself carefully, so as not to rustle leaves, then slowly and silently gathered an air current around herself to get to the next tree. She still kept far away and high up enough to stay out of sight; she only moved so she could get a clear picture of the two without branches getting in her way. Please don't get yourself hurt, Elijah. Or do anything stupid.
Elijah kept his eyes on Terry, resisting the urge to look towards Elena to see if she'd moved or not. He needed Terry's attention on him, not the trees. "Maybe we should just skip this, huh? I mean, it's not like you're gonna beat me."
Like that. Elena groaned inwardly. This large shape before her was not what she had been expecting. She and Elijah had never sparred with anyone bigger than their mentor (and that had been extremely challenging). Not to mention that this shape was on all fours -- was this a human they were fighting? Or perhaps a shape-shifter like their squad member? She didn't dare put out any more air to get a better picture than she already was and risk Terry noticing her.

 

Bree glanced up slightly to see him jump back, part of her was relieved as it gave her more time to decide what to do when she reached him but it also meant she had to keep up her concentration to air walk for longer. She had to fight him surely, but how did she do that without getting blasted by his water bursts? She considered that as she carefully stepped forward.

 

Having left Ellie to think on what he said, Mason took to sniffing out a different opponent. He could detect the scent, though only barely, of another of the Paragons, one that seemed to be alone. Recognising the scent as that of the pyrokinetic. Not my first choice... but I suppose it's best that I challenge somebody that'd be tough for me. he thought as he set himself to locating his chosen target, forgoing stealth for sheer speed by running full-pelt towards Reaper.


"Dancing? Maybe a little game of Water-Polo?" Deadpool answered sarcasticly. He mimicked Scorch's strut as he spoke, but quickly grew bored of it and moving on. "Or maybe you're talking about actually going a practice round with me, like we're actually supposed to?"

 

Whirlpool stared directly at Bree. He had almost completely run out of ideas. Almost. He aimed both palms directly at Bree. "Don't come another step closer" he warned.

 

"A practice round? With you? Oh, Wadey, you are ridiculously funny!" Scorch laughed as he walked towards the inside, but then changed his mind. "You aren't even a mutant, are you? But Magneto himself put you in charge of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants...oh, well, I guess we can join dear Demetrio some other time." Scorch raised his fists, assuming a battle position. "Let's not destroy the house this time. Sleeping outside doesn't suit me."


Wolfman looked up at his opponent. He didn't recognize him so he still had no idea what kind of powers he was facing. However, the werewolf-like mutant, let out a low growl as he grinned, revealing his teeth. He shook his head slowly and stood up. Now, he was staring down at his opponent, his mutated figure much bigger than the X-Force member. "Oh, you wish, man," he said, arching his back and spreading his claws. It might have been a comical sight: a bulging werewolf standing on its hind legs wearing a tight blue New Mutants uniform. "Give me your best shot!" He egged his opponent on. It wasn't that he didn't want to make the first move or even that he was being cautious against someone whose abilities he didn't know, but he felt he had the unfair advantage. With most people's abilities, they don't get the physical enhancement that Terry did as Wolfman. One punch of his in that form might break bones if he hit his hardest, he was much faster, and his claws and fangs...well, they spoke for themselves. He was never sure how far he should go.

 

Bree frowned and looked up, she knew he couldn't touch her but she paused anyway and looked at him, "Why? You can't touch me and I can't touch you. We're in a stalement, what are you going to do?" She looked staight at him and smiled, curious to what he wanted to do.

 

Whirlpool smirked. "I can't hit you directly, but that doesn't mean you're completely safe from me" he teased.

 

Bree raised an eyebrow even more intrigued, "Go on" She supposed she should of been scared or worring or trying to figure out how to get him, but she wasn't. She was just curious as to what he was about to do, so much so that she forgot she was standing on thin air momentarily. That was all it took. She fell from where she'd been standing and landed hard. She swore but as she did so she acted, she had to react before he did. She ran towards him and kicked her leg out to where it would be most painful.

 

Whirlpool grinned. He had done it. He had thrown off her concentration. He thrust his right arm down, blocking the kick as a pain went right up his arm from the force of the kick. He used the momentum against Bree, spinning around quickly and using the momentum to deliver a powerful, fast strike with his left fist straight towards Bree's skull.

 

Bree's eyes widened and she leapt back in an attempt to dogde his fist and put her hand out to block it. She grimiced as he hit her hand and knocked her back but she was pretty sure that was nothing compared to it hitting her head. She did not stay back though, she ran forward and up as it running up stairs, using her ability to air walk briefly to get above him and strike from above.

 

Whirlpool took another deep breath. The fight was beginning to tire him, and he doubted he could keep up this pace any longer. He looked up as she climbed into the air. What are you up to? he wondered. He figured she couldn't phase while hitting him, so he could probably block the strike if he had to. He calmly stood and waited.

 

Bree knew as she climbed as fast as she could that she was tiring, she'd used her power excessivly and it was taking a toll on her but she knew she couldn't stop or he'd just wipe the floor with her. She reached the top in a few brief seconds and immediatly attacked, using gravity to give her extra speed and force as she rapidly fell through the air, her feet positioned carefully to make contact with his scull.

 

Whirlpool had anticipated a drop. There wasn't much else Bree could've done. He sighed and shook his head. "Predictable" he said. He shifted his feet and leaned over slightly, narrowly but easily avoiding the kick. He ducked down to avoid the rest of Bree, and rolled forward. Recovering quickly he swung his leg behind him in an attempt to kick her from behind.

 

Bree landed and rolled to soften the impact, the kick touched her but she was far enough away that it didn't have much force remaining. She moved away from him and just stood there looking at him and smiled, "You know you're not too bad, still room for improvement, but not bad. This lasted longer than you expected? Hope I've given you your money's worth"

 

Whirlpool stood up and dusted himself off slightly, being careful to avoid accidentally knocking his dagger out of his jacket pocket. "Well, i admit you are better than i first thought you would be. That being said, you could still improve alot though" he stated, puffing slightly.

 

Bree grinned, she had a feeling that if they weren't fighting, she'd quite like him. She nodded in responce to his comments, "Thanks, I'll work on it and a rematch when we've both improved should be fun. Do you have a name? And yeah, what happens now?" She asked, in all honesty she'd had enough of the fight but the match between the two teams hadn't ended yet, so she'd recovered enough to continue if need be. Plus there hadn't been a definate victor.

 

"I'm going to improve each and every day, so a rematch is a definite. I go by Whirlpool, and i really have no idea what to do now. I suppose we either wait or try to meet up with the rest of the teams" Whirlpool said, voice trailing off slightly.

 

"I look forward to it, try and work on your balance" She said with a grin, "They call me Whisper" She said, deciding to give her nickname as that's what he gave her. "And yeah, although I don't think this thing has technically ended so everyone else may still be fighting. Oh, I'm curious when you said you could halm me indirectly before I fell, what were you planning to do?"

 

Whirlpool smirked. "My plan was to make you wonder what it was, make you lose your concentration. I was bluffing, i couldn't actually think of any way to stop you" he said with a laugh. "Come to think of it, i STILL can't think of a way to get past your damn phasing nonsense" he said, laughing once more.

 

Bree laughed with him, "Well it worked and yeah, it's pretty good. The only thing is it's pretty hard to actually attack the other person when you can't touch them, and it has it's limitations though I don't plan on telling you what they are. Your powers are pretty cool too, too bad you didn't get to use them on somebody they would actually work on." She shook her head, "But I wonder if the others are still fighting, wonder which side's winning. So what are we calling this a draw?"
