Ultimately it depends on what the manga is. Generally shonen anime have the downfall of filler due to the anime catching up to the manga. There they have 2 choices, continue and make thier alteration (FMA) or use filler story arcs to let the manga get ahead. (Naruto, Bleach and One Piece) So this can lead to people perfering the manga, due to less filler.

A manga chapter can't take up a space of an episode, hence why you can 2-3 chapters an episode. With Gintama they tend to use 1 chapter an episode, while for the most part it works, as each chapter is a stand alone story, they add alot of new material to flesh out the episode.

At times the anime can be better, especially for more emotional scenes, the input the voice work and music can easily have a bigger effect than reading it in a manga.

But personally I tend to watch the anime. Until it runs out of material then read the manga from where I left off. Like I did with Claymore, I watched it until the anime went offcourse, then I carried by reading the manga, I did the same for One Piece, Rave Master and many others.

I majorly disagree that watching the anime is lazy, and more often than not I find the people who go on about how "you should read the manga instead" are full of their own **** and ego, who are they to say what someone should do? It is like the people who say you arent a true fan unless you watch the subs and not the dubs (true my personal preference is subs but I don't force it on people).

Its all down to personal choice, just because someone prefers to watch the anime instead of reading the manga that doesn't make them lazy.

I see the two as seperate, with how the anime generally speaking differs so much from the manga I don't think of anime as an alternative to manga, I think of it as a different representation of the art.

I read manga yes, but I also watch anime.

You are of course allowed your personal opinion that those who watch anime are just being lazy, I just disagree with it.
