I warn you, it's not for the faint of heart.

    Here's the full article: Click.

I'm still in shock about how a man got on with a knife in the first place.

How wretched. In the end it would seem that the guy was really in the wrong place at the wrong time in this case and that the other man was looking for a suitable victim. Very disturbing.

I'm rather surprised no one tried to help the poor guy. Ok, the attacker had a knief, but they could have at least attempted to disarm him.

The guy is of his head. Attackin' for no reason n' eatin' this victim? Sounds like Hannibal Lecter. I hope the guy gets a loooong time for this horiffic act.

Yeah, I too am surprised that no one attempted to help. The passengers evacuated the bus, apparently.

Maybe his laughter irritated the murderer?
I would kill someone if he/she went Jim Carry on me.

On a more serious note, I can't really say that this article was shocking to me in any way. The human race is capable of doing and did much worse things then this murder, as for the bystanders just watching and not doing a thing, pretty natural in my opinion. Most people wouldn't risk their life to save another person, even if it is someone close to them. It is in our nature, like it is with animals, to protect our own skin first and then help others, if you say otherwise then I am afraid that you are nothing more then an idealist and I highly doubt that most of you, if you were on that bus, wouldn't behave like the other bus passengers. I mean c'mon the murderer went Hannibal/Dracula on the fellow and you say you would jump unarmed and try to help the victim? I highly doubt that, most of you would run off like the rest of those people, so don't judge them too harshly for saving their own life.

Ghetto, you ned to stop sayng this XD

I agree with Xidon; with this kind of scenario, it is rare for anyone to consider helping out. Keep in mind that this was a completely random act, and it probably happened very quickly, or at least seemed to happen quickly. It's not like the two of them were in a verbal fight (where the people on the bus would have anticipated something) before this guy took out the knife, so everyone was completely unprepared. It's not that these people are heartless, it's just that the first thing that comes to mind when you see someone being brutally stabbed is to run away. I'm sure that afterward, when the passengers had time to reflect, they regret not jumping in.

Since this incident is in the past, it's easy for us to see a rational solution; because we have all the time in the world to think about it and don't have to fear for our lives.

We kind of got off topic, didn't we? Well, the way it sounds to me makes it seem like this guy was trying win a contest for most grotesque way to kill someone. It's disgusting how completely inhuman and disturbed some people are. I feel really bad for the victim and his friends/family. It must have been worse than traumatic to see it happen, or even know that it happened to someone you love. To disgrace someone's body like this is the lowest of the low.

    poor guy

    but i agree with xidon.

    i mean, it was unexpected.

but , why would a person not only kill the guy , but eat him?

    this was disturbing to read.

This is rather repulsing, but as people are saying it's uncivilized for bystanders to just stander there, now, that's not unexpected.

As Xidon has already pointed out, humans have a reflex and think before hand, with that, they rationalize that they wouldn't risk their own lives for someone who is already dead. 'Nuff said.

But rally, that man is extremely repulsing, and that was just stomach churning to image.

it is not rare that people tend to act as nothing has happened if it risks their own life....
humans have sense such as many animals have....
we tend to act by survival, meaning that we don't help others but ourselves and those we think can help us...
i am not saying any of us does that...but in danger you cannot completly controll your instincts...

    Yeck.

And the worst bit is, if I look back in hindsight, I find nothing that could have been done to prevent it, or prevent another incident occurring.

Ok, so I found some new information. Apparently, the driver of the bus and a truck driver who saw it happen went back in the bus and tried to stop the guy from coming out of the bus (when everyone else was already out).

    Ok ew.......

Someone apparently needs to go to a psych ward or a prison one, whatever.
But I feel bad for the victim, he couldn't even stop the guy at first because he was sleeping.

At least someone tried to stop him, but it was too late for the victim.

I heard about this on the news....it was rather close to where I live.

You said you where in shock about how he got a knife on the bus (looked more like a machete to me, it wasn't any small knife). Honestly...it's not really that hard, you can get pretty much anything on a bus. After this there maybe like, someone to check you don't have any weapons, or at least a metal detector or something put in, but still, it's not like it's very practical, and something like this is rare. Security for buses will most likely somehow go up a bit, but with so many people, theirs always something that could go wrong.

A note about that article though, it's not really full for the most part. There was a better one that told more on what happened, though, it doesn't say anything about the guy actually eating the other person.

This is the one I read:
    http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2008/07/31/greyhound-transcanada.html

:/ We don't have the life sentence here in Canada. I believe though that he is going to have a VERY long time in jail.

I have to agree with you and the other people who have said similar things. Such an act wasn't expected, and most people where resting, there where probably pretty panicked about it, if you ask me they all did quite well with the incident. After the first stab or two, the victim would be dead, so even if he did get unarmed, it wouldn't make much of a difference.

    That is seriously ****ed up.

I actually dont blame the people for trying to get off the bus, because after hes killed that person (which he probably already had done) he might have just started killing other people.

The thing is...what did that guy ever do to make himself a victim? It's just...crazy. Some people are just really messed up seriously.
The murderer was probably taking a dare.
