Obviously the massive wave of gun and knife crime in London and England at large hasn't reached America yet. Although, it was teenagers who were getting slaughtered, not the victims of racist ****tards who should be locked up and the key thrown away.

These people ruin human society and what happens to them? They go in jail "for life" and are out in 10 years. While they are in jail they enjoy a better standard of life than they would have had outside jail. Heck there was a story about a guy who broke into a prison to bring in prostitutes, cigarettes and drugs and prisoners had the option to escape and they didn't even try!

The UK justice and legal system is a complete farce. We might as well not have a police force, as as soon as anyone is caught either the prisons are full (which they are now) or they get a massively reduced for either pleading guilty (wow, slight honesty compared to a heinous crime?) or they "find God" (which I personally believe to make them even more dangerous) or they get out early for "good behaviour" (if someone is capable of murder, surely they can pretend to be good? Duh).

Also, several people seem to be assuming this happened in America. If these people actually read the article they would find it says a London street.

I hate when things like this happen. When I was a little, naive child I heard about all the racism and slavery back in the day, and how people of different ethnicities were discriminated against. Since I was so small, I thought racism was over and everything was okay now. Obviously, as I learned many years ago, I was wrong about that, but every day I wish it was true. Poor guy! I agree with his wife--what is going through a person's head? I mean, everyone has a right to their own opinion. The most extreme thing I've ever done in regards to a person's fricking T-shirt is roll my eyes. What could possibly have led him to the solution that the man had to die? My guess is he's sick somehow.

Completely agree. People should never be voting for a leader based only on their outward appearence, but alas, there are a lot of morons in this country. It's like in Fahrenheit 451 where those women voted for their leader because of his looks and because he had a nicer sounding name. Because of the media mixed with many other factors, a lot of people judge based on looks and don't think of what is actually going to happen to the country once a candidate is in office.

I think Obama is aware of the fact that people will want to assassinate him, and it's a risk he's willing to take. There is not one single thing every person in this world agrees with, so any president of any ethnicity puts themself in jeopardy when they run. Look at Abe Lincoln and JFK. I really hope Obama doesn't get killed, but it is a possibility.

why does everyone thing Obama is gonna get shot by some racist? racism isn't something that exists only against blacks, racism also exists against whites as well and the majority of our presidents have not been assassinated from people of the opposite skin color. just because he's in line to be the first african american/muslim president doesn't mean people will want to kill him.

i personally think if everyone were to vote for skin color, it would be a little hypocritical of the people who fought for non-discrimination to vote based on skin color because that would be in a way, discrimination on the basis of skin color.

It would technically be positive discrimination (discrimination done in an attempt to right previous discrimination).

I also hope that he Muslim part was a joke, or you are very ignorant indeed.

People should be able to have their own political beliefs and not get shot or even spoken to.This is an election and it's not like Obama is Sadam Husan.
I'm not even old enough to vote yet..but if my dad got shot for such a thing. I'd probably kill my self with the thought of the stupid cercumstance.
And it's not like you wouldn't know who he was voting for anyway. Most Blacks are voting for Obama. It's the truth.

Racism, whether someone is voting against a person because he's black or voting for a person because he's black...is just not right. Really, it shows that some people are just not paying attention to what Obama wants to do.

The same could be said about feminists who are voting for Sarah Palin because Hillary lost. Sarah Palin has NOTHING similar to Hillary in platform or stance. Women who vote for her because they really want a woman in the white house to make history are being pathetic.

Some people really are 'simple' creatures in that they'd vote for anything if they can stereotype it in a way that it is favorable. All I can say is I hope most people vote for a person because they actually believe in the platforms presented by the candidates and also other things besides one being black and the other being female, and the other being an old white guy. If you know someone voting just on these qualities alone, you have figured out just how superficial some of your friends truly are. I do agree, either way, whoever you vote for, history is certainly being made. It is a momentous time and well, a more exciting election than with Kerry and Bush which was like voting for the same person. Whoever wins the election, a new mark in history has been reached and a level of acceptance is recognized that we are moving more to equality each year.

that is SO true, i personally think Sarah Palin is a LITTLE too right wing for comfort.

anyways, back on topic, i'm very suprised the guy survived and is fine and lived to tell the story.

It's things like this that just disgust me.
I'm a supporter of Obama, and I'm white.
    Racists are terrible people.
In my opinion, they're worse than murderers.

Agreed 100%. It's just irresponsible to vote on the basis of anything but qualifications.

Well that's a bit extreme. I think that, besides pedophiles, murderers are the lowest form of criminals. But bottom line, the guy in this article is a madman who should be locked up for a long time.

I was never in favor of th McCain/Palin ticket, but now I'm absolutely disgusted with them, Palin in particular. Ever since they started slipping behind in the poles, they've been deeply suggesting that Obama is a terrorist. Palin has been getting people blatently afraid of the idea of Obama as president. If you've watched any of these clips, you'll hear people shouting things like "terrorist", "traitor", and one person actually shouted "kill him." Nothing good ever comes out of making people this angry.

I'm actually starting to feel sorry for McCain, because he's realizing that it's gotten out of hand. In this video, I am proud of him for what he says:

However, he did slip up by making it sound like Arabs are not "decent people."

God this is disgusting. I can't even imagine how racist people think. It's as serious a disorder as schizophrenia, and it's not even talked about much in the world today. stupid Sarah Palin has worked the republican party, or at least those dumb enough not to be disgusted with mccain/palin, into a murderous frenzy. Why people even like her at all is completely beyond me. but back to the point, racists should be put in straightjackets. that's not an elitist opinion, that's a fact.

The saddest thing about it is that there will probably never be a whole world. There's always going to be racists out there making derogatory comments and trying to stop people from existing simply because their skin is a different color, or they have a different religion, because it's passed down from family to family. Some are simply just extremists, but most come from a very racist back ground.

It sickens me to no end, so what if people want no democratic black man to lead this country to a better tomorrow, as long as he is holding his head up high, what the hell do you want from him? He's better than most people, I give him credit, I give him diplomacy, no matter what, I can tell you this, I've had enough of this racist bullshit! No more! I'm not gonna let this damn diplomacy go down the drain, not now, not even then, I hate people like that, I hate racism, it's a feeble attempt to tell people that no one is equal, when they don't even know themselves why they hate black people. It's childish, it's selfish, and it's stupid beyond reason. Just because you wear a t-shirt, or wear a headband, what's the most important thing to others? A president that can help this country to a better tomorrow? Or just another black man that has no threat to this country? Make that damn choice, because this country needs to believe in a future where all races are equal, all put under one government, no matter what you think, people will hear you, no matter what you do, how you do it, what more can happen because of it? ~End of statement~

This really has nothing to do with his belief in Obama. The person who shot him is hiding behind his politcal beliefs as a justification for a cowardly act.
The person who shot probably is someone with a record of shotings and just thought he'd use his political standing as an excuse.
