Police arrested a man for allegedly misusing 911 when he called the cops on Taco Bell after they refused to sell him food.

Police say the man admitted he had been drinking and didn't want to drive, so he walked through the drive-thru to order food. He also told them he didn't have an emergency, only that the restaurant wouldn't serve him.

I have to side with Taco Bell here.

Any place that has a drive-thru, such as McDonald's, Taco Bell, etc., is not supposed to serve to anyone walking in the drive-thru.

Walking through a drive-thru is prohibited because of safety, and I, wholeheartedly, agree with that rule.

lol well he would've gotten his food if he wasn't drunk enough to assume they would serve him in the drive-thru without a car. There's a reason why they have an entrance where you can go in to order.

However i wouldn't warrent an arrest, maybe a warning, or a fine of some sort.

Well, depending on exactly how much of a disturbance he's making, they can arrest him for about a day or so. Still, I'm siding with Taco Bell. Drive-thrus are made for cars to drive-thru. That guy seriously needs to think these things through

Ahh yeah that's true. But he was arrested for merely walking through and not getting his order and then calling 911, i think such an act doesn't deserve an arrest. But yeah if he was disturbing the peace, that would be a reason. But the article says that he was arrested for dialing 911 for a situation that was not an emergency.

well that will happen. You can't just dial 911 for some reason you think is an emergency. You're most likely going to get in some serious trouble if you do that. Not too mention he was drinking, which doesn't help his chances

Indeed, that was the very reason he was taken into custody. However the article didn't state how long he will be arrested. It did say that he,Terry Lynn Kimbell, was put in jail for running for the border early Wednesday.

In the guys defense oftentimes stores will shave off a few employees for night hours by closing the seating and only doing orders through the drive through. Then you only need the kitchen open. So it's plausible that going in wasn't an option at that time.

That's just wrong, this Taco Bell should be sued for being racist against people without cars.

If I happened to misplace my car around 2am, I still want to be treated like every other standing(people sitting in their cars) citizen when I order a taco. I needz my mexican food now and then!

Could he have walked into the establishment and ordered said taco? Sure, but where is the entertainment in that? Naw if I'm ordering a taco at 2:36am I'm going through the drive-through.

*roflmao* Are you serious!? This is definitely something I would try to do (only a bit different) anyway . . .

If he was causing a disturbance that made the employees feel at risk then I believe charges should be pushed. If he wanted taco bell he should have got drunk at an earlier time that way he could stagger inside and order. Then again if it was just some trivial thing and taco bell blowed it out of proportion then the charges should be dropped. Basically what i'm saying is for me it comes down to this, if the guy was being a real a** then he should do some time (not hard time) if not then no time. Hopefully both of them learn a lesson from this. The man should either drink earlier to go to taco bell or buy taco bell and hold it in his fridge for later. Taco bell should open up a walk-through connected next to the drive through that is safe and make's issues like this . . . not an issue.

Sadly this happens all too often. I once heard a news bit about a man who called the cops on a Subway sandwich clerk because she made his order "wrong" i.e. was supposed to be a mind reader and guess he didn't want X item without him actually telling her. Then when she fixed it and it was still wrong, he called 911 a second time.

Too often customers (or as I have often called them "sucktomers") think threatening clerks, cashiers, and the like with calling the po-po will get them their way. It doesn't. Usually, they'll arrest THEM because it wasn't deemed an emergency.

True story: One of my first full time jobs while I was in college was a sales representative for a chain of pool, patio, and game room stuff (rhymes with "Blamco"), and I earned commission for sales. This one guy came in and wanted to mix and match two different sets of clearance patio furniture for a mere $200, while the cheapest set was $700. When both my boss and I refused to cave to his demands, he called 911 and demanded we be arrested. Of course it fell through, and he ended up in the back of the cruiser, but the dude wouldn't shut up about how "he was going to have my job" and "those shiny cuffs will look nice on ya".

    Bigot.

I see how some people are laughing, but lets be honest. This is getting a bit too far, with people misusing 911. Also, at least the man was honest about not drunk driving, but I'm still siding with Taco Bell.

    It's a drive-thru, man.
You're supposed to have a something to *drive*
    Hence, drive-thru.

I side with the drink guy. Let's face it; People without cars get hungry too. While calling 911 was a bit much, he still had the right to obtain food from Taco Bell. Sometimes, the munchies can make people do dumb things.

This did amuse me, but it was very stupid of the man- "drive thru" is pretty self explanatory so he shouldn't have been walking through it. However, being drunk probably also clouded his inhibition to think straight so he thought it was okay to ring the police on such an event. Although, I agree with taco bell- especially if there is a walk in part of the place.

    What? Really?

I have to side with Taco Bell on this one. Drive-thru's are for cars, not people obviously!
As for the arrest for the 911 call, I think they should have let him off with a warning. Though it wouldn't be considered unfair if they just kept him overnight or for a day.
