I think the staff should be able know, but not regular members. No matter whether or not it's fair.
It should be able to be deleted though.

I say no to this. Definitely no. The reason being that there is no need for it. If someone gives you a negative rep for a good reason, they can choose not to leave their name, because there are some people who would derep them back simply because they were just derepped themselves even though the original reason was valid. If someone dereps you for an unjust reason, then as of now you can PM a mod and tell them you think you've been derepped unfairly and they will look into it. It's not like there is no penalty for abuse of the rep system as it is, abusing it to much is something that is a warnable offense. If someone reps you for a good reason, they usually leave their name, but can choose to do it anonymously, kind of like giving gifts. And if someone reps you postively without a reason, it's repwhoring anyway, so there's no need for you to know who it was so you can continue the whorage.

You know...staff members do communicate with each other. We have a pretty good idea of what's happening on the forum.

And as I said before, I'm leaning towards no on this because of obvious problems that may come up.
Plus the fact that there may not be a way to enable that. I think I remember a suggestion like this before that asked about this...I'll check.

I'm against this. It will definetly lead to bad blood between members here and with all the current drama, the forum would pretty much explode. And I've gotten de-repped for fairly pointless reasons. Once, I got de-repped because I eat grileld chicken hearts and the comment said "Ewwwww...." and another time (fairly recent actually) I got de-repped to see what the new de-rep message was. But sometimes, people don't want to get hurt for making actual criticism, so you pretty much have to accept it. So yeah, it's a no for me.

Same here.Today a noob (I know its a noob because of the amount of rep i lost) bad repped me and said "because of the simple fact that i don't like you".I wouldn't have minded if it was because of my post but it wasn't.It would make people think about why they are bad repping you.People would need reasons for bad repping then.

I don't like that idea, but maybe there should be a thing where people rep you, and it's sent to a mod or admin, and they approve or dissaprove your message.

I always post my name for good rep. I think if people wanted you to know that they were repping/de-repping, they'd do the same. Same goes for bad rep.

Uhhh, no. First of all: it's in the rules that you should not abuse the rep system. if you're really so concerned about getting dereped unfairly, PM me. I'd be glad to help. but if you don't sign your name to a rep there's probably a reason for it. Secondly, you can't even imagine what people would do with that info. there's already an enormous amount of whoring going on with the rep system, and this is just going to add fuel to the fire.

This wont be happening. Not now and not in the future either.

If everbody could see who was behind de-reps then it could result in people de-repping back or getting their friends to de-rep back, etc etc then it escalates and before you know it you have a bunch of kids all baaaaawwwwing because they got de-repped by so and so and blah.

If you really think that you got de-repped for no reason then let a member of staff know and we shall deal with it.

Similarly, if you knew who PLUS-repped you all the time then it would result in rep being whored even more than it is now because everyone would follow the "rep-back" thing.

If someone wants you to know that they repped you/de-repped you, they would leave their name.

    Rep with names

Would it be possible to show people's name by the rep that they give you because some people give me rep without leaving their names and I want to rep them back sometimes.

If I get de-repped then it was my fault or I could get it reversed. I only care about the green bars.

But I guess this can be closed now.

Yeah, rep with names won't be happening. If anyone has problems where they feel bad rep is given without warrant, you can feel free to pm a staff member and we will be glad to look into the situation for you and remove it if it is unfair. I know sometimes that people who bad-rep and leave rotten messages etc can be annoying, but the procedure is set in place that rep can be good or bad and the person has the option to put his/her name in or not in the message. Not everyone wants to be known whether it is for positive or negative rep.

Closing this since it won't be happening.

Rep Option: Include Username or Remain Anonymous

This isn't a huge deal, but I think it would be better than the system that's in place.

Well, the way the rep system is set up, people can type their name in the message, or omit it if they wish to remain anonymous. There is a small problem though. I don't want to give people ideas, but...well, here goes :P Since it's up to that person to type their name, they can put someone else's name instead of theirs. There aren't many cases where that person could benefit from doing this (and the number of rep gems can sometimes expose them), but if it happens, it would at the very least, cause a bit of confusion.

So, if this is possible, I'd suggest having a check-box/pop-up that allows a person to decide whether or not they want to include their name (automatically using the name of the member who's signed in). Then, when the member receives rep, there will be separate box displaying that person's username (or the box would be empty, if they wanted to remain anonymous).

I think it would look more "official", and make it harder to trick the system.

Not a bad idea, but the people who aren't half asleep on their computer can actually count the rep our and figure out if that person repped/nega repped them. I see where you're coming from, but I think it's unnecessary.

The only reason someone would sign it as someone else is if they derepped that user, hopin' they would derep in return.

It seems a bit pointless. =/ If folk want others to know then they can just sign it. It's rather lazy.

I think its a good idea, but should be made mandatory for a negative rep, so that if the rep-ee feels that they were given bad rep for no reason, they can call the rep-er on it.
