I'm thinking I probably murdered the look of the garden with all those veggis, but this is just messing around and learning from tutorials, so meh

Nothing specifically, I was just following a tutorial, the guy was making a mountain village so I decided to follow suit, although with my own little variations, and this came forth. Although I might mess with it a little more if I feel like it

I downloaded a free version of RPG Maker a while ago, but quickly realized it was too complicated for me/I didn't have the patience for it.

(the program not the map) looks like a rip off of gbc-gba map hacking tools for pokemon games.

    Looks noice tho

Looks nice, very reminiscent of that classic style.
I've been getting into Twine recently, an interactive fiction creator, which is kind of like this in that it's a really simple bare bones way to make a part of a game.
If we combine forces, we'll be able to put something on Steam soon enough!

Hey why not. In fact, while we're at it, why don't you help me with my game idea? I started a story years ago but stopped because I needed to take time to work on the characters and details more, but I never got to it because it's always handy to have a second person around to give opinions on stuff.
It's funny, because I was thinking of pokemon when I was working on this. Which makes me want Omega and Alpha out even faster......darn you November!!!!

    The way the map editor works (and the art style sort of) is almost identical. And yeah I know ;_;

    Helps to have a map

I'd suggest clustering the veggies into rows, it looks better generally, also consider putting them on a differently coloured piece of ground. I'd also recommend adding bits and pieces to the ground so it's not just pure green everywhere. Also that one tree is directly in the middle of the road
(next you should add NPCs and set their path to random)

I'll give feedback, if you're serious about it. I may be overly critical though, as a warning.

Well, since I'm serious about this idea, I'd want feedback, whether or not it's positive or not. Plus it's not a perfect idea, so I'd expect it to still be rough
WAHAHAHAHA!!! I know I accidentally put one in the middle of the road on the right side of the river, but I never noticed the one on the left. But yeah, guess I wasn't the only one that thought the veggies were kind messed up. I just put them in like that wanting to see if I could make a garden work right there. But what do you mean differently colored pieces of ground? Like dirt and stuff?

yeah, dirt or something, depends on the tileset. I dunno if you got RPGMaker XP as well, but that has tiles of tilled land, not sure if VX has something similar but it's worth looking into

Oh, I'll try it then. Yeah, I got both XP and VX Ace, so I'll see.

Okay, it looks like VX Ace also has 4 different Farm land spaces, so I can use that as well. Thanks for the tip though, I didn't think about it. Like I said, I'm just learning, so all the help I can get would be nice

Can I be in charge of mechanics? I've got a cool idea that I'd love to try out.
