Part of what bothers me so much about these groups that have been popping up lately are the cult of personality they're trying to create for themselves. A lot of them seem to me to be people who like to play vigilante.

Regardless though, I'm glad to hear they're done. I think they took things waaaay too far. There are ways to speak out & create change without resorting to illegal methods, or ways that will endanger innocent people.

At least it's one less group to deal with. Like Misty said, there are ways to create change without breaking the law. Hacking into a corporation or company that you deem "oppressive" will just get you an arrest warrant if you are found out, and 9 times out of 10, the people in the corporation/company are smart enough to undo whatever damage was done, so it's kind of pointless to do it in the first place.

    Well, that's my 2cents, I'm off.

I'd say that ultimately, Lulsec was successful in its goal. The hacking of companies will cause security to be improved, so no lasting damage has been done. All that has happened is that a few companies have been caught with their pants down. While this is illegal, there hasn't been any reports of credit card abuse or the like, which leads me to believe that Lulsec really was 'in it for the lulz' as opposed to monetary gain. This makes their actions far more admirable than if they were merely out for some quick cash.

Ultimately, they garnered attention and got their message out to the world. Whether it matters in the end, I don't know, but it's certainly a worthwhile message.

Their goal was to expose the government. They just spiced it up every so often. They didn't want any ordinary people to be harmed by their actions. They also recommend you don't use the same password over and use a combination of letters, symbols and numbers when making one.

Link to interview where they state that

It's hilarious how they try to make themselves seem important for doing illegal activities. And only fifty days? Lawl, they got scared of the FBI closing in on them and wussed out. Their so called "message" only angered people. I'm glad they're gone. Good riddance.
