I think that it's still a no... but a DEFINITE no if you've met over the internet... your risking your life doing that.

I don't think it does. I was in an online relationship for nine months, even though she broke up with me saying she realized that she only loved me like a brother. Anyways, now I'm in one that will hopefully last a whole lot longer.

It can work if you want it to... though it can deteriorate quicker than a real life relationship.

I like real life ones more, when you find a really good one. However online ones/long distance ones can be just as good. The only thing is that you aren't able to interact face-to-face, which is an emotional burden both parties must bear until they decide to meet.

So, do I like them? Sometimes. But I prefer real life over online, if the choice were given to me, hands down.

I sincerely HOPE that long distance relationships work. I mean, if you're voice-chatting or webcamming with them face-to-face/voice-to-voice/any other combination and you both feel the same way, then I'd say it should work as long as both parties keep working at it through thick and thin.

Sure, it'd help if you were in the same time zone, but trying to get together with someone who lives three time zones over could work too. It'd be a strain on the person who lives in the earlier zone, but it could still work out if they work at it. :)

...or I could just be fooling myself...:sideways:

For, like, the next couple seconds, I'm going to be totally & completely honest.

I don't think they can work out. Different time zones/states just doesn't work, at least for me anyway. Cities/towns are okay. My friends work it out all the time. Of course, either their boyfriend/girlfriend is sixteen or they themselves are about to be. So they could just meet them somewhere, go over to their house, or whatever.

But, nah, I don't think long distance relationships can work. One, it's just not my thing (especially when I think I've never met them in real life). Two, if the person's never met me in real life, how can they know who I really am? How can they actually, deeply know the person I am, who I truly am? That's how I think any relationship can work; they have to know who you really are. And for some reason long distance relationships just don't work that way (for me), especially internet relationships.

    /end of rant.

I kinda disagree on that second point. If you've been talking with the person for awhile in real time (i.e. voice chatting, web-cam, telephone) then it COULD work given enough time. However, if it's just via PMs or Visitor Messaging, then the chances of the relationship working out are even lower because both parties might get frustrated with the lag in the conversation.

As for understanding how the person truly is, yes, it's hard to figure someone out virtually, especially if they're both not being totally honest and open to each other. But over time, trust builds and eventually, it's kinda easy to figure someone's personality by the way they speak or word things.

But like I said, it only happens over time and both parties actually have to be willing to work toward it.
