Okay, so, currently, I've got two let's plays with my friend. The first one, which is completed, was Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits, which was recorded with my digital camcorder, which had a microphone built in it, so we talked as we played. However, for the second, in-progress one, which is Dragon Quest VIII, I'm recording it directly onto a DVD, using Roxio and Easy VHS to DVD to record, and later voice-editing when my friend can come over. I think, though, we found it generally easier the way we did it for the first let's play. However, I'd rather not go down in recording quality. I mean, my digital camcorder's recording quality was actually pretty good -- the only thing that got in the way sometimes was a small, dark, transparent line that would appear in a random place (top, bottom, or middle). The reason I like the way we did it for the first let's play is because if we needed to go into detail on something or show something, we could just stop moving. However, for pre-recordings, which is what's going for DQVIII, it's kind of impossible to predict how long we need to talk about something. So, anyway, is there any way to voice-edit live while keeping the good quality that I have now? Thanks in advance.
You could always hook up a mic to your computer, record in Audacity or something as you play, then just put the voice track over the video later.
Wow, that sounds like an extremely odd way of recording video! But as Misty said, you should hook a microphone up. One good way of doing it is to buy a good recording microphone. You should go with a purely vocal microphone (as in a singing mic). If you don't want to spend the money though, you should have two headsets and a mic- or jack-splitter so you can hook em both up to the same microphone jack, so that you have one voicetrack instead of two.
