But his songs are generally stupid and really don't take much work.

Well, maybe so, but that's all he really knows about. Superficial things. If he starts rapping about something he knows nothing about, then the people who lived through it would see right through him and he'd be called a poser.

What I like about him is that he sticks with what he knows. I mean, he's only 19. What important things do he have to talk about?

That is not all he knows, he came from poverty.

Example of someone who is young and has better content: Dyme-A-Duzin

And you heard about that in his song I Pray. Sure, he's not a great lyricist, but you can't say that he never talks about things that matter.

Thing is, he won't be remembered for any deep song.

This is what he will be remembered for:

    No I didn't hear that from I Pray, it's common knowledge. I didn't understand I Pray, honestly

Well, that's what happens when you have a million dollar record.

You say like it's a bad thing.
He will be remembered for influencing thousands of children.
His music is not MEANT to be deep, it's supposed to be light, he's only 19, let him do his thing.

Musically, yes, it is a bad thing.

Commercially, no, as you said with the whole influence thing.

What are you talking about? My dad's a producer and I write/mix/sing music all of the time. Besides, the song wasn't even official. (That one he was rapping), it was just them being silly. Why would you get offended over something that took you two minutes to come up with?

That actually looks pretty decent. Now if only he would make a whole album with that kind of depth. Then I'd consider listening to him.

His songs are supposed to be fun. That's exactly what it was. That's why it sold more than some other artists.

"Crank Dat" was not, is not, nor will it ever be fun.

Now, you left that whole part out. Plus, its kind of hard to freestyle.

We're having an intelligent discussion talking about our points of view on the rapper Soulja Boy. Now gtfo. ^^

Yeah, it sold 6 million copies because it was boring.

"Honestly I don’t even listen to rap
Cos when I turn the radio on, out comes crap
And if you make good music that's ok, but
On the radio that they don’t play
It's easy to see we created a beast
Cos everybody wants to hear what they don’t need"
    - B.o.B.

    There you go

He's a signed rapper. If he can't freestyle, he needs to be dropped or move into a different genre.
