Limitless Wandering

Serifina closed her eyes. Leave me alone. Make it stop. Just stop, everything. She took the vail from Aiko and drank it, slowing because of the pain. Nothing happened and she finally stood up, "I, I have to make it stop." she gasped out, walking unsteadily foward, in the direction of the explosion and where she felt the thing was stronger.

 

Aiko was worried about Serifina. She bit her lower lip.

Haratsu was beside Aiko. "What's wrong with your friend...or is she always like this?"

Aiko sighed and pushed him away. "If your here to make things worse for us,then leave." She muttered to him.

"I'm not here to make things worse. I'm just here to help you guys...is that too much to ask?"

Aiko ran towards the explosion once more. She saw Serifina in front of her, and hurried to catch up.

Sartre was also running towards the explosion.

 

Serifina looked around. They had reached a town that looked like everyone had only left a few days ago at the most. Her body was in more pain with each step and her vision got worse. "What is it?!" she yelled angrily, not being able to see or feel where it was coming from anymore, it was all around her. She clamped her hands around her head and breathed harshly. Wait a second, I think I know what it is, what's pressing on me. "Aiko!" she cried, hoarsly.

 

Aiko heard Serifina calling her. "Coming!!" She caught up to her a few seconds later. "You need something?" She asked worriedly.

Haratsu was still trying to catch up to them. He finally reached them and sat down next to Aiko. "What does she need?"

Sartre was beside Serifina. He looked both concerned and worried.

 

Serfina turned to Aiko, bracing herself for more pain, "Yeah, do you know what's that explosion let off? It let off a chemical that's amplifying the air. I'm connected to the air so what do you think that means?" she blinked and shook her head, still trying to clear her eyes and head. "Everything is louder, harder, and painful. I don't need a poition that gets rid of pain, I need something to disconnect me from the air until the chemical leaves." she dropped the ground and leaned on a wall, catching her breath. Speaking normaly had hurt her more than she wanted to let on and she couldn't say anymore. Someone knows what I can do and is trying to get rid of me. Someone wants to pick us off one by one. Gods, help us, I think it's their old boss. "We have to leave." she said, after a minute, "I think I know what's going on."

 

Aiko bit her lip. "Alright...Haratsu, Sartre...let's get out of here." She slung Serifina's arm around her shoulder and ran in the opposite direction of the explosion. About 2 hours later, they had gone about 65 miles from where the explosion took place. She knelt Serifina down...then fell from exhaustion.

"You alright?" Haratsu asked Aiko.

"Yes...I'm...just ...tired."

Haratsu nodded. "I'll scout the sorrounding area. I'l tell you if I see any enemies in sight. " Haratsu ran into the trees.

Sartre was resting under the shade of a tree. "Serifina, are you all right?"

 

Serifina looked away from them, the pain was more of a dull ache but eveything was still enticified, as though the chemical was in her skin but not all around her, "I'm fine." she mumbled, "I'm sorry Aiko." she looked down at her hands. "Okay, so, what did I say? S, sorry, I kind of forget what I explained so far..."

 

Aiko looked at Serifina puzzled. "Well, you were talkiing about the pain, trying to make it stop, and then you said something about a chemical in the air. I was totally confused by what you said. "

Haratsu came back a moment later. "No enemies in sight....What happened back there?" He motioned to Serifina.

Sartre sighed. "Whatever it was, it was no good. My spine tingled. I was shivering all over my body, and there was no breath of air."

 

Serfina sighed, "I'm sorry I was so confusing, I could barely think." she winced as a wave of pain washed over her and then went back to the ache, "That explosion let off a chemical that amplified the air. Everything, my hearing, my sight, my feeling, my smell, everything, is connected to the air. It was all pressing in on me so I couldn't tell where it came from. But when we got so close I realized what it was, someone did that to me before, b**tards." she took a breath and winced again, "Whoever let off that explosion had to know that one of us could be taken down by it. I think whoever it is has in mind to pick us off. There is no other reason to use that chemical, it doesn't effect normal people execpt, as you said Sartre, to make the air heavy. Although you may have been more affected by it because of father, I don't know." she looked out thoughfully.

 

Sartre shrugged "Maybe..." He stared into space thinking about the chemicals in the air, and who the person was that might have released it into the air.

Aiko got up. "It's getting late. We should probably get some sleep..." She chanted a few words. Leaves, twigs,branches and roots formed together to make a large shelter, in the middle of the 'house' was a large fire. "This should protect us from the rain and the other weathers...don't worry, the fire won't burn up the shelter, it won't burn us, and we don't need to feed it wood." She smiled. She suddenly shouted, "I get first shift!!! Afer the explosion,I doubt I'll get any sleep..."

"You're not the only one who doesn't want to go to sleep..." Haratsu said.

 

Serfina shook her head. "I don't want to agree, but I do. I don't want to sleep either." she walked out from under the shelter and layed down on the ground to look at the sky. I wonder who let off the chemical. Maybe their old boss. But whoever it was, I know what I have to do now. Damn, why couldn't they just leave well enought alone? she took in a shaky breath as the pain returned. "Dang it, I thought it was gone. But I should know better, it takes longer than a few hours to go away." she said to herself, standing up and pacing the clearing. "Non-fatal." she mumbled, "Non-fatal, that's not useful... unless...unless. I have to think about that."

 

Aiko was warming herself near the fire. "It's chilly today..." She shivered. 'Kyoshi, if only you were here to comfort me. Times are rough without you...' She sighed.
Haratsu came near the fire. "You okay? You seem really down today...somethinig bothering you?"

"It's nothing..."

Haratsu nodded.

Sartre was leaning against a tree. wondering about the chemicals in the air that made Serifina nearly scream in agony.

 

Serfina pushed the thought to the back of her mind for the moment, seeing Aiko looking sad. Gods, this is getting stupid. she walked over to the fire and kelt down by her, "Your not okay, huh?" she asked, calmly as she could.

 

Aiko wiped a tear from her eye. "It's nothing....really." She looked up at the stars wondering where Kyoshi was.


Haratsu was searching the area for enemies. He was also looking for civilization nearby, just not the town that was covered with the chemical. He smelled something familiar in the air. He suddenly remembered the scent. It was the hideout of his old job. 'If Aiko and Serifina find this, they'll rip it to pieces...this'll be an excellent time to take them in...' He goes inside the hideout.

Sartre was still wondering about the chemicals.

 

Serfina sat more comforatably, "Well, the others seem busy, do you want to talk about it, you know, before they start paying attention and it's harder to talk?" she asked, looking into the fire.

 

Aiko sighed. "I guess i can't hid it much longer...." She moved a starnd of her hair from her face. "Way before I met you, I was teammates with a boy named Kyoshi Tsaki. We was a bit older than me, but very cute." Aiko muffled a giggle. "After some time, we were more than just friends. Then our boss gave us a mission, and I was supposed to be looking for the base of our enemies. Kyoshi and I were separated. I had to look in the eastern part, and Kyoshi in the western. It's already been 2 and a half years...I wonder if he's still alive..."

Sartre was looking over to the girls. 'Must be something wrong...I'de rather not intrude.." He decided to go to sleep.

Haratsu was returning to camp with a lot of SES's (Synapid-Exterminators-Squad). He pointed towards Aiko and Serifina. "There they are..."

 

Serfina listened to Aiko and when she finished her story, she tenitavly put an arm over her shoulder in a half hug, "If I can, I'll help you find him." she promised. But suddenly she felt the SES on the air and her focus snapped to them. "Uh oh. Looks like someone didn't get the hint earlier." she said, meaning when she told Haratsu she'd throw him into the sun. She stood up and turned to face the SES.

 

Aiko looked up and saw Haratsu with some SES assassins. 'What??!! He betrayed us? ' She knew he was going to turn away from them, but she didn't know it would be so soon. "Haratsu! I thought we were allies...."

Haratsu was leaning against a tree. "You can stop pretending...you told me yourself that one day I was gonig to betray you guys...you were right." He chuckled. "Be aware that I am no longer the Haratsu you used to know, I have been faking my feelings all these years. Now, I'll show my true abilities!" He took out his sword.

Bubbling anger rose within Aiko. 'That cheating, lying, coward.....I knew he was a good-for-nothing JERK!!!' She stood up and took out her sais.

Sartre couldn't belive his own partner would actually betray him. "Haratsu, I want an explanation...NOW!!"

Haratsu calmly looked at Sartre. "Why bother, you're going to die anyways. You have betrayed the Society, and you will die for that crime."

6 out of the 24 assassins went after Sartre.

Sartre quickly took out his pistol and killed 2 of them instantly. He ducked one of their swords, and felt a pain in his side. W=He had a deep gash below his shoulder.

The rest of the assassins came after Aiko and Serifina. Haratsu wanted to fight Aiko himself, but he decided later on, when she was on the weak side. He sat down and watched the battle with bloodthirsty eyes.

 

Serfinia threw off the men attacking her, "Shove off if you don't want to die." she threatened. "Sartre, are you okay?" she called, seeing the gash.

 

Sartre nodded. "I'm alright, get your head in the battle, don't worry about me..." He winced. He grabbed his sword, and sliced the first attacker he saw. He was in pain, but he didn't want anybody to notice. He fought off several more attackers. Then, his pain becoming unbearable, he collapsed. Weakened, 'He took out his pistol and tried shooting them.


Aiko attacked and killed 2 of the 9 assassins after her. She called upon the spirits of fire, and one assassin was in flames.

Haratsu was watching the fight. 'I wonder if I should tell her now, or later. I'll tell her later...'

Aiko speared another assassin with her sai, and struck another in the neck. 3 assassins were also killed by the fire spirits. One assassin remained. She chuckled. "You can either run back to your pathetic boss and cry, or I'll kill you..."


The assassin was heavily armored. It had not moved throughout the whole battle. He drank a liquid from a blue vial. In seconds, multiple copies of the assassin were sorrounding Aiko.

Aiko laughed uneasily. 'Oh great, I just had to get a big, armoured guy with clones of himslef...this is not my day...'
