Lightsaber VS. Blaster

Then how do Jedi's get killed by blasters every once in a while? And they have the force!

Blasters are better weapons. Lightsabers are epic because they are usually weilded better, but are the inferior weapon overall.

Uh, there could be more than one opponent to watch, keep that in mind..can't parry everything that heads your way.

The only Jedi to effectivly use a thrown Lightsaber was Darth Vader. And it was only to spook out Luke.

 

It also proves that it takes an enormouse ammount of power to pull that off and is hardly practicle.

Also, imagine if someone took a pop shot at him at that exact moment.

 

I went with light saber for a person wouldn't ever have to worry about it running out of particles that causes the blast of a blaster. With a light saber there are more uses such as deflecting and it's a more sensiable approach with the fact that if a person wielding a light saber would also have to know the "force" where that has many advantages of its own.

 

Because George Lucas willed it. XP. And there were two blasters, not just one.

 

Sword fights are often more epic, so I voted for Lightsabers.

 

This. Guns are cowardly. Anyone willing to take a life has to be strong enough to look into their victims eyes as they die.

 

I'll take the blaster, mainly because I love gunfights!

 

Lightsaber all the way. As Obi-Wan said, blasters are so "uncivilized."

 

I find this a somewhat silly argument, though assuming the most badass sharpshooter in the whole series *coughBobafettcough* was pinned against the most badass lightsaber user in the whole series *coughGeneralGrievouscough* then I have to say lightsaber > blaster.

 

Most badass was Grievous?? He wasn't even a Force-user! Any Jedi trained to ANY decent level could beat him! Anakin (before the suit) all the way.

Anyways, yea, blaster that is blocked by most materials is clearly < lightsaber that cuts through anything except other lightsabers (in the hands of a Jedi, of course).

Sword/gun-wise, though, swords have much more grace and skill required to use them, and swordmasters are usually more disciplined. Guns, while being more powerful, require much less discipline to use. I was hitting targets easily my first time. Therefore, guns are more dangerous than swords, in a general sense, but swords are better IMO, since the users have a sense of what they're about to inflict on someone.

 

Lightsaber owns blaster. End of discussion.

 

A more balanced battle: Arrow VS. Sword.

 

I just realised that this thread is hardly a debate, so hereby it's moved.
@Pika: I'd still choose a sword.

 

Yes, that would be much more balanced. An arrow also takes a lot of discipline to learn how to use, but not nearly as much. I still choose sword, for it's sheer grace (if used right) and the discipline you acquire while learning to use it.
