Birth by Sleep seemed renown for being very good, I'm interesting- why don't you like it as much as the others? : )

it was kinda a let down for me. it wasnt as awesome as i was expecting, but im sure thats only because my expectations were so high, and i had been following the news since it was announced, that nothing would have been able to live up to it.

    anyway, here are some reasons.

it wasnt as solid as i was expecting. splitting the main story into 3 small stories and one ending doesnt make the story seem as coherent as it could be, had it just been given a main character, and had the others be supporting. It doesnt feel like one long story like kh1 or 2, but rather a couple stories packaged together as one game. im sure this is one of the main points people make when complaining about the game, and although i wouldnt say the game is bad because of it, it just doesnt work as well as nomura may have hoped, at least in my opinion.

i also didnt like the characters as much as i thought i would, i didnt immediately fall in love with the character like i did in the other games, and because i had to play as each of these characters that i didnt like, at times it felt like i was forcing myyself to play, rather than playing because i loved the game. there were times when the main 3 characters came off as very annoying and unsympathetic, unfortunately im just going by what i remember, as i have only played the game twice, and it has been more than a year since i played it.

i really didnt like the layout of the worlds, something about them didnt feel like the kh i had been playing for years. I didnt like how they took worlds that we had played as before, and completely redid them, for seemingly no apparent reason (im thinking the Colosseum.)
the new worlds were not terrible, but they certainly weren't as fun to play through as previous games.

Leveling up is a nightmare in this game, even with the tricks and whatnot. It wouldnt be as bad if the experience gained when an enemy defeated increased as the game went on, but unlike previous games it does not increase, meaning by the end of the game, neverland is the only remotely quick place to level up. this severely hurts the replay value, and makes previous worlds in the game all but useless, which is a shame because they are all vastly more fun to play through than neverland. Like i said ive played the game twice, meaning i have played 6 stories, out of all of those i have only reached 99 once, and that was as ven the first time, it took me days, and that was with using various tricks. The highest ive gotten since that is around 50 because its just not fun when the only quick place to level up is the last, and most boring world. I would love to have them all at 99, because ive done that with every previous kh game, but i just cant be bothered to reach 99 3 more times (deleted the first play-through files) when they are all around 50, and all of the playing would take place at neverland, because as ive said multiple times, its the only option when grinding.

I hate the unversed. they are nowhere near as fun to slaughter as heartless or nobodies, they just add to the overall feel of the game that i didnt really like.

the two bosses are just too hard. I didnt even have that much trouble with terra in kh2fm. the only one that i havent beaten yet is vanitas sentiment for terra, i came really close multiple times, but have not beaten it yet. this is really nitpicky, but i feel like its a bit much.

the keyblades are really boring, also nitpicky.

the gameplay gets really repetitive after a while. despite all the different options and customization abilities, after a while its just not fun. I have never gotten bored with kh2's gameplay, and it has far less customization options than this game.

I hate the camera. I realize the psp only has so many buttons, but i feel like the characters are way too close to the screen at times.

Having a world full of nothing but mini games may seem like a good idea, but when the game has so few worlds, and all of them are small, it makes what should be just a small bonus place, seem more prominent. most of the games here are rather easy, except the one where you have to hit the fruit against pete, that is another one of those unnecessarily hard games.

I have mixed feelings about the mirage arena. Its a good idea, because it adds a lot of replay value to a game that has almost none, but ultimately its just not ass fun as it should be. I think that if the online mechanism would have been removed it would be better, certain things that i dont like wouldnt be a problem, and it would allow for more involved gameplay with the characters. Rather than making it just so that the offline version is just playing it without a friend, the should have made it completely different, or better yet not have an online option. However thats just my opinion, and i can see how being able to play with someone could be fun.

seeing members of the org before the became nobodies was really nice, but they werent used to their potential. specifically lea and isa, they should have joined ven for a time, and joined the party, this could have made them seem more like important characters, and less like contrivances for the purpose of throwing a bone to the fans. I loved what they did with braigs character, but i dont like how he seems like the only remotely important one out of them all.

for a final world the keyblade graveyard is very boring, theres almost nothing there, and it had so much potential.

The biggest problem that i have with this game is that it doesnt seem as emotionaly involved as the others. nearly all the other games made me cry. i was balling at the end of kh1. I can tell the game tries to be sad, which is good, but because the characters arent as entertaining or believable, a lot of what could be sad, really comes off as a failed attempt to add emotional depth to something that should have it by default, but because it doesnt it doesnt know what it should do to fill the void.

Kh games have always been extremely nostalgic for me, each game invokes good memories of the times i played the game, and this game does not do that at all. it doesnt give me a warm feeling when i think about it, and it doesnt make me want to play through it to relive all those good time. though this is entirely because of the time period i played the game, so i cant really fault it for that. If i were to replay the game now, im sure this would be overwritten, but i would have to beat v.s. for terra first, and thats something that im really dreading.

I realize a large majority of the things i listed are extremely nitpicky, however i cant really get over them. Dont get me wrong, i still like the game, it just didnt live up to my expectations, and almost doesnt feel like its part of the same series, and i feel like as a prequel, it doesnt really do itself justice. I would give it an 8 out of 10.

    (Kingdom hearts 2)
This is my favorite game ever! The story was just amazing like the rest! The gameplay was soo good! I loved the fast action and the reaction commands! This games graphics and sound/music was just amazing!

(Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance)
This game was just as good as 2! The story was amazing and gameplay was also amazing! These worlds were HUGE! Big skyscrapers and everything. I am surprised how great looking this game looked on the 3DS. Im surprised it could handle it!

    (Kingdom Heart 358/2 Day)
This was also a great story! I love the side stories of KH! This game also outdone itself on the DS! The gameplay was great and loved how you can play as all of the Organization characters!

    (Kingdom Hearts 1)
Tied with "Days", this was also really good! This was my very first PS2 game I has got for Christmas and I had never even heard of it! (Besides then realizing I had seen commercials for it on "Toonami") Gameplay was good but not as good as the rest. Also great story!

    (Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep)
This was a very nice game. The levels seemed to go by quick though. Also the game play seemed a little different. Its fighting was very stiff. You really had not time to recover from anything and once the main Characters attack they seemed to not respond to block or recover which got me killed a lot if you understand what I'm saying. Especially when I tried to cure myself.

    (Kingdom Hearts: re: Coded)
Story was okay. I loved so of the fights and scenes! Gameplay was excellent! It was nice to relive some of the battles! Not the best in the seires but statisfied me very much!

(Kingdom Hearts: re: Chain of Memoires)
This got but down a lot because of the gameplay but I still liked it a lot! The amazing special attacks made up for the card system because it was just so awesome to use! I really liked the story too!

Damn that is a lot of reasons (put into a spoiler to aid scrolling purposes) and they're all valid and you still gave it 8/10, I agree with you on quite a few of them like Disney Town, I really didn't like the Fruit game, the racing was enjoyable if not a bit easy and repeatitive (doing the same track 5 times can get kind of boring when little is going on) and the Ice Cream game was tedious until you got the hang of it, I have to admit- it did grow on me after a while).

I was a bit shocked at Braig's part since he seemed to have little importance in KH2 and although it was nice to see how he lost his eye and get a bit of backstory I would have preferred to see more about the other members of the organisation *cough*IenzoLOL*cough* xD

I suppose if you don't feel for the characters then it really ruins the game, I thought they were well developed and had a good relationship. I always found the Ven/Roxas thing a bit pretentious, it felt more like it was there just for the sake of being there. The end of the game made me feel very excited to find out how they get saved but I thought Terra's story was very predictable which was a shame as everyone guessed it before the game was released.

I also didn't like many of the Keyblades- especially the ones you get in the first three worlds. I was hoping that each character would get a completely different selection of them but they were basically the same. I didn't like how Terra and Aqua's ending keyblades were similar to their starting one while Ven's was completely different- it made little sense.

The leveling just isn't the same as it is in KH2, I agree. I found the grinding difficult and Aqua had few good places that made it easier which was infuriating. I've only managed to get Terra to 99 and completed the Mirage arena. I also think it seems a bit tedious to have to do some things 3 times to complete the game 100%- it's not as satisfying to beat Vanitas' sentiment 3 seperate times only annoying. I also found the proud mode a bit too difficult- I have no problem with proud on any of the other games that I've played but on this one it was just impossible for me- I couldn't beat enough Unverse to level up in order to continue the game in order to get potions which I so desperately needed to fight the Unverse D: It was literally a case of not getting hit at all by anything else lose half your health. I'm all for a challenge but I like things to be doable xD

You raised some points that I didn't even think of, I still absolutely adore the game.

i was expecting a bit for from ienzo. i wasnt expecting much, but appearing in like one scene was too little.
perhaps if i didnt play on critical i would be complaining about the difficulty.

like i said i would like to replay it, its just a mattar f not wanting to have to do the mirrage arena and the secrets and all that again. maybe i can just play it for the story on an easier mode and then keep the old files for completing.

i want to like these characters and this story more, but as it is now they cant even compare to the main cast.

You can't force yourself to like characters, so fair enough. Yeah, I replay the games again normally just for teh storyline. I keep one file to complete 100% but then the other times I just play for the story.

I've completed the mirage arena once and it was a welcome challenge but I am a bit tired of fighting Iron Prisoners O.o

One thing I do adore abotu BBS is the command board, it seems quite simple and easy and yet I play it loads and just adore it although I know that to complete 100% I need to get some commands from doing certain things on the board which I don't fully understand and it seems tiring to have to play loads of games just for the cahnce of getting them.

Compared to the other DS games though I think it is definitely better, I prefer the levelling in BBS to Days as that was just ridiculously slow.

    then ill do that.

i completely agree about the mirage arena.

at first i hated the command board, but now i think its really fun, i like playing it every so often while im playing the game, its a good way to get prizes and stuff, since the game itself can get kinda repetitive.

i have never been able to complete 358 days. i rented it when it came out and played it on my sisters ds and never finished it, and recently i tried playing it on my computer but it just got so boring. ill wait till i get a 3ds and then play it along with 3d and recoded.

i never understood why those games didnt come out for the psp, to me it seems like they could have been much much better, except for 3d which i know almost nothing about.

    BBS= CoM>KH2>Re:Codded>KH 1=358/2.

BBs was short, but I liked the 3 characters aspect.. It shall be optimized in next games, The Board game is the GREATEST mini game in all KH series... I've played it so much that my powers were at max before going to the second world ç.ç... best way to get CURE in the start of the game... the story was all that we expected and more, The only thing I could ask was that it was made in a console, as the Grapichs of Psp (even though better than Nintendo DS) aren't that great.. I found it strange that they had already made a HIGH definition movie of the final battle cutscene for the intro, but used a crapier version of the cutscene in the battle.
CoM had the best gameplay in my opinion I LOVED cards! Even though it is a unique system we all can acknowlodge its bases for the next games (Bbs 358/2).. It was a simpler version of the cards system sleids. The story flowed better than KH 1 , thus making it better than the first time, and it is filled with all these awesome Organization bosses, and for the first time the option to play with riku (reverse/rebirth).many times t

KH2 I started playing with it (thank god!) as KH1 is way worse in the begning, and has all that crappy controls >_>! Wouldn't leave that island if wasnt already in love with the series.... back to KH2, as a "real" title (and not a side game) it took the original game to a whole new level! If we include the FM version of it.... I think I may switch it for first. It is a big and awesome game, all titles are good, but KH2 is great!

Re:Codded even though the story sucked, I found it more enjoyable to play than KH1... it seems like KH1 was an incomplete game, they retried to make it so many times because they werent happy enough with the end result.

KH1... I was so happy after playing KH2, that when I started Kh1 i was shocked... that island was so boring that I don't blame Riku for destroying the whole thing >_>! THe camera controls were alwfull even in DS controls were kinda better even though they were handled games.... The plot was good, so good that they tried to remake Kh1 many times until got it right. The story in disney worlds was deeper than in all other games, KH 2 had a lot more of story about KH's own universe but Disneys worlds were a copy paste from the movies, but still is a good game, I think it will go up after they launch the HD version.

358/2 days almost nothing new at the plot, but it was great to see what we already new, by the organization point of view.. in this game i completed my main objective when started playing Kingdom Hearts, TO PLAY AS DONALD DUCK @_@ ! ANd I even flew :)! The problem is that the game is sooo repetitive that I don't even care to get all the mega bosses.. only gone through the main story.

    Imo
    BBS>Com>Kh1>Kh2>DDD>days and coded (tie)
BBS had very good gameplay, I think. It's story was very great and the endings were quite sad. The game itself isn't that long for each character but three characters together kinda even it up. It's pretty good for a PSP game and really did a great job for a portable game.

Com was quite unique in terms of gameplay. Instead of the usual keyblade wacking that the other games have you use cards (still hitting stuff with your keyblade of course) as a new gameplay element for attacks, magic and items. I am one who actually liked the card system and thought it was great. The story of com was also pretty good, imo. Then on top of that you get to have the second story as Riku. His is a lot shorter but pretty good for working on his character development.

I felt kh1 was pretty good overall. I think Sora was a bit more frigid in moving than he or other characters are in most other games are. The story of the original kingdom hearts was pretty amazing and got me well into the series. The gameplay is also pretty great.

Kh2 had very great gameplay. Probably the main reason I'll play it. I felt the story in it wasn't as great as other games but I liked it still. I also felt the gummi ship rides were a bit better than kh1.

DDD introduced a lot of unique elements which I thought were interesting. The dream eaters (which greatly reminded me of pokemon) were pretty cool. The fact that they were your only choice of party members and no Disney characters could join your party was a bit dissapointing but the dream eaters were good enough. Flowmotion I think was a good addition and really good for getting around. The story was also enjoyable. It introduced a lot and pretty much set the plot for kh3 it seems.

Days had a pretty good story and I actually liked the gameplay. The missions ended up getting repetetive eventually. Some of the abilities and the fact that higher levels of magic or other abilities acted differently were quite interesting though, I think. I think the story had some pretty great cutscenes too.

Coded had pretty a pretty cool style of gameplay. It's different world "gimmicks" were probably the best part of it for me. I don't know why but I also like the block concept in it. xD It didn't get as much done story wise as other kh games but I still enjoyed it.

Hmm... I would have to say from the games I played, and I haven't played Coded and/or DDD, so they won't be listed:

Kingdom Hearts: I just loved how original and fresh it seemed. The gameplay was good, the storyline and characters were fantastic, and all the side stories were interesting and enjoyable for each world. I think it's severely under ranked in the series.

Chain of Memories: I thought the storyline was very good. Instead of most handheld ports, it added a lot to the Kingdom Hearts universe. Namine and memories, hints of Roxas, and of course the Nobodies. The gameplay and the worlds just seemed a bit flat to me though and it got very hard collecting the cards and deck. Riku's was a headache because you were given a fixed deck and it was very hard with the bosses because of it, but it added a lot of strategy and made the game more enjoyable.

Kingdom Hearts II: I didn't mind the button mashing, but it also stopped a lot of strategizing from Kingdom Hearts. Instead of planning and being careful around a boss, all you had to do is mostly press the triangle button when needed. It drew away from me the gameplay to put it in second. That and the fact that there was a damned musical in the hardest world of Kingdom Hearts. The stories for the worlds really held it back also. But the storyline was pretty good and enjoyable, the worlds themselves were fantastic, and it was a great game.

Birth By Sleep: I did admittedly enjoy this game a lot. Aqua's storyline and the fact that she really didn't seem to do as much for the game except being there when I was hoping for a strong female character puts it in this spot. The fact that you got to choose to play three very different people and fighting styles was a huge plus for me along with the storyline. I have to say it's a tie between KHII and BBS.

358/2: I liked the storyline, but it really turned into a forgettable experience for me. I don't really remember much of the game and that is why it's so low on the list.
