The not-Rayyad smirked "No creature deserves to be caged?" he conjured up more images, one showed a pair of glowing green eyes deep under the ocean, seemingly trapped. Another showed a man in a cold landscape, surrounded by grotesque creatures of ice, but trapped behind a great wall of mountains "I have a feeling that theory will be tested, Tessa" he walked forward menacingly "And what of me? Trapped inside a fool! Should I be let out? Should I be unleashed on the world?!" Not-Rayyad's eyes glowed green and his face was contorted into an expression of anger and hatred "I am the part of Rayyad that he fears, I am the Webber Prince! I am the part of him that desires power! For years he has oppressed me, but with the magic of the Binding Totem I have been brought forward, and I will reclaim my kingdom, for Azjol, for the Deciever!"

Tessa refused to back away, and stood her ground as Rayyad-so-not-Rayyad approached her. "But I'm not afraid of you." She stated. She tried to reach up to touch him, but something seemed to hinder her. Tessa furrowed her brow, and pushed back against the force. Slowly but surely, her hand slipped through whatever barrier tried to keep her away, and she laid a hand against Rayyad-totally-not-Rayyad's cheek. "And maybe, Rayyad's just afraid because he couldn't choose to have you inside of him." She smiled a little sadly. "It must be so painful, to be at war with the other half of yourself. Maybe if you both tried to understand the other..."

"No, you are the uncultured one!" Flint quipped, before suddenly the battleaxe came swinging towards him. Flint began to bring up his sword to parry the attack, but he was too slow. A look of shock crossed the Night Knight's face as the battleaxe struck him in the chest.

Flint fell to the ground. His chest was bruised intensely, he was pretty sure some ribs were broken, only his armour had prevented him being split in half. Dark spots flickered over his eyes as he slowly felt himself slipping into unconsciousness... the man had beaten him, and now he would have to help the idiot find some kind of fruit... not to mention he'd probably be arrested for the theft... as intense pain flared from the hit he closed his eyes and passed out

"NO!" Flint slowly rose to his feet. His body ached like hell, but he was NOT going to go on a quest for some dragon fruit or whatever. Determination in his eyes, Flint would not go down so easily "I WILL beat you!" Although he could feel pain in every muscle resisting, he picked his sword back up. It would be so easy to surrender, to lie down in defeat. But Flint broke past that urge to fall down that all humans experienced at times of great pressure. He was determined.

Not-Rayyad listened with a scowl. she did make a point though... maybe Rayyad was afraid... maybe he should try to understand his other half... he flinched as Tessa touched his cheek... she seemed so understanding... he gently took her hand in his own...

"No"

Not-Rayyad flung her across the dark ground. "No!" he exclaimed. Dark cobwebs were shot from the shadows, ensnaring Tessa and sticking her to the ground. "NO!" from the shadows appeared swarms of spiders of varying sizes, which surrounded Tessa "You have taught me something here Tessa, I will make Rayyad understand, I will make him aim for power and reclaim our kingdom! He will be another puppet on my strings, just like the ancient Webber Kings! All of them have served my whims!"

Bryce sighed, and turned to walk away. Whenever he passed out, it helped him if someone tossed water on his face. As he went to go find some, he heard the man start screaming about being beaten. Oh good, I don't need water. Now we can go find my dragon fruit! As Bryce turned, ready to present the man with his Hug of Victory before they went off to find the magical fruit, he was smacked across the face with something very hard.

But....but my dragon fruit. Bryce fell to his knees, his vision blurring. He tried to rouse himself, but it was too much. Coupled with the sorrow that he had now lost, Bryce was unable to rise, and passed into unconsciousness.

Tessa slid across the ground, her hands scrabbling as she tried to make herself stop. When she finally did, she was pulled down by cobwebs, and unable to rise. She could only lift her head as Sad-not-Rayyad called spiders, surrounding her. A puppet...She looked at Not-Rayyad sadly, ignoring the spiders, ignoring the way the webbing pulled at her skin or that she couldn't breathe. Ignoring it all, she looked at the Webber King. "I'm sorry." She whispered softly, her muscles straining against the strength of the web. "I'm sorry so many people failed to love you. To accept you. I know." No one has loved me either. "Humans fear what they don't understand." She gasped as her muscles cramped, momentarily forcing her head to touch the dirt. "But if we make them fear us, we're just letting them define us. I don't want some human to define me. I want to define me." She was able to send one last smile towards Not-Rayyad-but-Sad-Rayyad before her neck gave out and she was forced to lean her cheek against the dirt, staring up into the mandibles of one of the spiders that peered over her. "I won't ever fear you."

Shutting her eyes, it felt as if she traveled through a whirlwind of pictures, emotions, voices. She was screaming at a man, before the room exploded. Tessa gasped and opened her eyes, once again met with the hairy mandibles of the spiders. What was that?

Flint gave in to the agony that coursed through his body, and fell to the floor, beside his enormous blade. Closing his eyes, Flint smiled at the victory as he fell into darkness, in the distance, he heard applause... good.

Sanderson watched the battle but did not intervene, sometimes people needed to solve their problems independantly. Sanderson flinched as the heavy weapons were flung around and applauded as Bryce appeared to have won. Suddenly, however, the opponent got back up again and knocked down Bryce, before falling down himself. Sanderson got up and clapped enthusiastically "Bloody good show!" he exclaimed "Such determination, old sport!" walking over casually he took Bryce's helmet off and left it by Flint "You deserve to keep that, and the money" Rolling up his sleeves, Sanderson hefted Bryce up and gently placed him in a wheelbarrow "I think our little diversion is over, friends. Let's carry onwards!"

"Oh, you will fear me Tessa, because I will destroy Rayyad. Tessa... Tessa...Tessa... TESSA!" Tessa was awoken from her sleep by Real-Rayyad "Hey, are you alright?" he looked from her to the caves "Why didn't you wait? Oh it doesn't matter anymore. Are you two ready to head in?" he asked anxiously "I mean, you don't have to, there are things down there that won't hesitate to try and kill you, especially since we're trespassing... I just have to ask... can we please not kill them?"

"I won't let you!" Tessa promised. "I won't let-!"

She shuddered awake, blinking. Above her were two familiar faces, one of whom was talking. She blinked again before being able to finally focus. "You're you..." She sighed with relief, passing a hand over her eyes. Part of her had been worried that it hadn't been a dream, or nightmare, as it was. But Rayyad was still himself; anxious and caring and awkward. She opened her eyes and looked up at the man holding her.

He had been in her dream too. She flushed, and moved to sit up, running a hand through her hair. "Thanks." She muttered, staring at the ground. "For saving me." But I shouldn't need to be saved. She got to her feet, before looking at the spider bite on her hand. There was little left to show, other then the actual bite marks. "I'm ready to go, if you are." she directed this at Conrad before turning in the direction of the cave. "I've no desire to harm anything in there." As she spoke, her thoughts went once more to the Webber King. Even you. I won't let you take Rayyad or Conrad, but I won't let you be forgotten either. If she was a creature of the forest, then these people were slowly becoming her herd. And no one in her herd would get left behind.

 

Conrad held Tessa as she tossed and turned because of the nightmares. He was comforted a bit by what Rayyad said that she wouldn't be hurt too badly further than nightmares. The tears he felt burn in the corners of his eyes subsided again, instead of spilling out. He didn't know too well what to do except hold her and tell her it was alright, he didn't even know if she could hear him and had taken of one of his gauntlets and cupped her cheek with it. When she woke up he moved that hand away letting go of her as she sat up, muttering a thanks for saving her. "You didn't think, we'd abandon you, did you?" He asked her with a smile on his face.

Rayyad then asked them whether or not they should go into the Caverns now and whether there were things that wanted to kill them down there requesting that if they did go down there. Tessa left the decision to him saying she was alright. "I'll try to keep myself from killing the things, if I appear to take it too far, stop me, please." He stated first, getting that out of the way then thought this all through. "Rayyad, I know you are eager to get this curse lifted, but judging from what just happened, these spiders seem quite dangerous and I am uncertain if just the three of us go down there, that we'll make it all out alive. I'll be perfectly honest, I don't think the combined strength of the three of us will be enough to see us through. I'd like to wait until atleast some of the others are here. Strength in numbers and all. I'm sorry if I hurt you two by saying that, I just don't want us to end up dead." He truly felt sorry if he offended them but getting them all killed would get them nowhere and wouldn't solve a single thing.

Baldomar was getting very close to losing it and ramming the signpost down Kevin's throat because the idiot was clearly blind since both the F and M signs were clearly at the begining of the sign meaning his logic was extremely flawed, more flawed than that one genius plan of his to try and break down that one wall back in the day or that thing that got him thrown into the prison. He wondered how Bill was doing, Bill was a nice bloke really. Now back to the subject at hand ah yes the sign. "If wasting time is your concern then why in the name of all that is unholy do you argue with me and using broken logic at that." He stated nearly ramming the sign into the bloke's face. However Kellan spoke up before Baldy lost his **** and said he'd get the sign shoved down his throat if he had been wrong, Baldomar started laughing loudly "Just you try Sithwyr, just you try." He said, then Aston wondered what was down the other road with the M on it and Baldomar thought for a moment. "Morgue, if it's a tomb we're looking for the morgue ain't far off." Baldomar stated pleased with his own logic.

They were going further into the woods and up the roads it was getting a little bit colder, but the legendary outdoorsman Baldomar didn't mind it at all. He was still annoyed by that idiots logic questioning his perfect flawless logic. Kellan was reasoning that they should all just keep on going when a scream had been heard. The howling of wolves was also heard in the distance. "Kellan, what happened to that whole Radiant sword mumbo-jumbo you know protecting everyone and all? That die with the disbanding of our little dynamic duo? I mean sure it's probably a city folk who shouldn't have gone outside of their city, but nonetheless we can't just let them die. After all what would little Mina think of the great warrior Kellan if she heard of this." Baldomar said reasoning with his old companion.​

Kara took hold of Ren's hand, squeezing it tightly. "Kind of creepy in here." She whispered, her voice echoing off the walls, accompanied by their footsteps. It made her want to force her voice to echo, but she stifled the urge. Barely. After all, they were here because Conrad and Tessa were missing. Is it bad that I just want to stumble upon them having a quickie so I can tell Shyra I told you so? She wondered, slipping her fingers in between Ren's to get a more solid grip. That was when she felt something tickle the back of her neck, and she giggled. "Ren, stop it." Then froze. Ren was walking in front of her. So what in the gods' names was that feeling?

Tessa smiled a little when Conrad said he wouldn't abandon her. Apparently her feelings of belonging to a herd weren't misplaced, but in fact reciprocated. By at least one person, anyway. And while she did agree with him in that strength would give them a better chance, her stomach twisted at the idea of trying to introduce Rayyad to the others in the group. "Conrad...they won't understand him." She said softly, looking at the forest man as she spoke. "They barely understood me, and I don't have spiders following me around." To be fair, she didn't think Kara would mind the man, as long as she didn't have a fear of spiders. But she couldn't speak for Ren, or Alice, or Lumen. And Shyra rubbed her the wrong way.

"Maybe, we could compromise. You guys can go take care of the spiders and get the totem, and Rayyad and I can stay here. That way he won't be alone, nothing will happen to me, and we get what we need with the strength you want. Everyone wins." She suggested in her quiet voice. She didn't like the idea of staying behind, but as protective as Conrad was being, she would only serve as a distraction, and if anyone should stay with Rayyad, it should be her or Conrad, but that would leave the group bereft of his strength.

Bryce was in a field of soft flowers that were the color blue. He twirled around, surprisingly lightweight in his amour as he danced, throwing petals around in the air and skipping about. Looking down, he realized he was naked. Well, that made it easier. Laughing to himself, he kept frolicking until he reached a river....and upon that river...."DRAGONFRUITS!" Bryce shouted, his voice booming over the landscape as he dove into the water, wading as quickly as he could to the boat. It was a large ship, and when he finally climbed aboard, he found himself rolling in the things. "GLORIOUS DRAGONFRUITS I HAVE FOUND YOU!" He reveled, taking a bite out of one, and then another one as the delicious white flesh of the fruit filled his mouth.

Back in the waking world, Bryce's head lolled back in the wheelbarrow, a small amount of drool escaping from his mouth.

The spider on the back of Kara's neck squeaked slightly and fell off. It was only a small spider. Suddenly from the shadows approached two massive spiders with glowing red eyes. They hissed at the trespassers, and scuttled closer...

Rayyad shifted awkwardly. "Uh, I guess if you think that's... better. Uh... I can always get rid of the spiders..." Rayyad gently shooed away a spider that was following him "Tessa, I don't want to stay behind, I'd never forgive myself if they got hurt down there... I guess we'll wait, I'm sure I can get them to like me" Rayyad smiled anxiously "So uh, what are they like? Where do they come from? Maybe I should take off the mask, it's a bit intimidating" Rayyad removed the mask to reveal a quite young face, around 19 years of age, with bright green eyes, dark skin, and red-blond hair.

Kara shrieked as the spider fell off of her and scuttled away, brushing her shoulder off to make sure it hadn't left anything behind. She smiled a little at Laurentinus' chivalry, unexpected as it was. "Sorry, Hawkie, but I can't let you do that." she danced behind him, planting a kiss on his cheek airily before circling around the spiders, planning to form a pincer attack and come at them from two sides.

Tessa smiled as Rayyad removed his mask, peeking at him. He couldn't be much younger then herself. What a strange coincidence, that they were similar ages and came from similar walks of life. Not that she was long lost royalty trapped in a domain she didn't want, but still. She took Rayyad's hand, hoping to transfer courage from herself to him. "Much better." She assured him. "It'll be okay. They come from a lot of different places and they're...very different," She muttered, thinking of Kara, "But most of them are nice. And Conrad and I will protect you." She looked back at her male companion. "Right, Conrad?"

Since they rolled well for initiative, Kara and Laurentinus get to go first.

The group left the inn, Sanderson wheeling Bryce along in the wheelbarrow. They had left Eredanos at last and were now hiking through the Everwood, the mystical magical forest that spread around the Dragonclaw, the biggest mountain in Tyrrus. "Can you see that over there? The Dragonclaw, bloody massive mountain!" Sanderson chuckled "Went up there once, but we only got about halfway" Sanderson said with nostalgia. "Anyway chaps, our friend here could do with some healing, any of you know any medicine or healing?"

 

Conrad sat there listened to the ongoing conversation between Tessa and Rayyad. Rayyad had brought up an interesting point that he had forgotten about. Maybe they could go down there, it was the spiders that had poisoned Tessa and how had he missed it so badly after all Tessa had held her own well in the previous battle had he been underestimating them all. "I hadn't thought of that Rayyad... I missed it.... somehow..." He mentally slapped himself for his stupidity he had been distracted. He had to focus, taking a few deep breaths to regain his focus he looked back at Rayyad who had removed his mask, he looked about the same age as Tessa and he himself didn't think he was much older than both of them. He took a moment to take in the features of the young man and then thought again only to be brought back by Tessa asking him something "Yeah, we will" He said not fully paying attention. He sighed "Okay..... I know I am changing my mind an aweful lot, but I'll say it. I was wrong... I hadn't taken your control of spiders into account when thinking, I really am sorry for that... I guess with that power we can get to the totem, I mean we could be waiting for days here until others show up... If you want to go right now, you will have my sword at your side." Conrad said feeling rather stupid about forgeting this important power and making himself like an idiot. He felt a measure of shame and avoided looking at anyone after he had said anything.​

 

When Baldomar reminded him of the Radiant Sword, Kellan's head fell in shame and his hand fell to the battered necklace around his neck. He looked at it longingly, remembering better days when he was the ass of the order, but at least he did things. At least he was able to help people, even if they all hated him and shortchanged him because who the hell wanted to pay some kind of *******, even if he did save their life. He remembered the ideals that they held. He looked up at Baldomar and nodded.
"Yeah, you're right Baldy. Damn it, now I feel ashamed of myself for forgetting all of that." He looked up at the bizarre man who he blamed for the cause of many troubles in his life. Including the debt issue. He gave him a smile, but it probably looked like a wolf baring its teeth. "Did you start making sense after the disbanding of our dynamic duo?" With new life set in him, Kellan drew forth his blade. It caught the light through the trees, glittering off the blade which seemed to almost shine.
"Come on! We've got someone to save!"




The howling got louder and soon they could make out what the alarmed person was shouting.
“Help me! They’re going to eat me! Guys? Where are you?” Aston raced on ahead of everyone and flicked out both of his swords. When they arrived, they saw the person in question. He was dressed in a strange uniform and was currently huddled up in a tree, around which a pack of wolves circled. A snarling Alpha Wolf noticed them first and barked quickly to its fellows who bared their teeth at the group. Aston grinned and pointed his blade at it.
“Come here you!” He shouted eagerly, rushing towards it. The rest of the pack streamed towards the rest. Kellan was faced with two wolves with a missing eye apiece. They were both big, meaning that they were likely the previous contenders for leader.
“Here goes!” He said, setting himself in position. The rest of the pack made a beeline for the rest of the group. ​

Kara darted forward, raising her blades and attacking the spider on Laurentinus' left, slashing at the enemy as Ren worked on the one on the right. Better to take out the distracted enemy then the one who's trying to eat your bo-friend. She corrected herself mid-thought as she cast her escape spell and teleported away from the spider to a safe distance, from which she could move in to strike again. Assuming said friend can handle himself. And I'll show you I'm not just another damsel in distress. She didn't say the thought out loud, avoiding distracting the warrior, but it filled her with determination.

Bryce was in heaven. No, he was in bliss. No wait....Nirvana. Nirvana was a good place, right? Or maybe that was hell. Well he didn't want to be in hell.

As he tried to decide exactly where he was, he took another happy bite from the dragon fruit, closing his eyes as he chewed. It was so nice to be in a place where they had culture. Where they knew what life was really about. "And it's all about you." He whispered to the half eaten fruit, rubbing its spiny outer shell against his face before taking another bite. Suddenly, someone clambered onto the boat. Bryce didn't get up, but he narrowed his eyes. After having spent a whole two days searching for the magical fruit, he would be damned if he would share it with anyone. Well, he would share it with his mother. And maybe a pretty girl, if she promised to name each one before she ate it.

"This is mine." He growled, gathering as many of the fruits in his arms as he could, the oval shaped items rolling over his arms and down his stomach and legs, nearly burying him. "Go find your own ship."

In the living world, Bryce was starting to scowl.

Iris had kept a pretty low profile up until this point. Not really because she was trying to hide or was shy of all the new people or anything. She just really had zero presence the entire time, almost like she might as well have been there. But as if from nowhere, she had reappeared into existence, and was clapping alongside Sanderson after the match between the Night and the Knight, er, the night knight and Bryce. Regardless of how fun a spectacle it may have been to observe, the group had to go on and leave poor Bryce's wallet to whatever the nocturnal fighter had planned. Giving a short wave to the man before they left, Iris had followed alongside the rest of the group on their way to go find some drakes to make steak out of.

While they needed to deal with Bryce's wounds, Iris was a bit distressed, simply because she didn't know anything in the forms of healing or medical care, and it hardly looked like him missing mana was the problem, (or even a problem at all.) However, as the group got closer to their destination, Sanderson had also pointed out a large mountain. Giving her an idea, Iris said, "this might get him up." Walking over to Bryce's unconcious body, she started shaking it saying, "look Bryce, it's Dragonclaw. And if it has Dragon in the name, it might have the fabled Fruit of Dragons you've been searching for." Though she tried to do what she could, it appeared as though he was unresponsive to her claims, to which she could only shrug saying, "well, I tried."

The Spiders reared up and hissed as they were attacked, but they would not go down so easily. The spiders waved their limbs and twisted the very fabric of the darkness, weaving it into webs. These webs of shadow twisted and meandered across the ground, and as they approached Kara, weaved upwards, grasping at her feet and holding her to the ground. The first Darkweaver hissed ans summoned a thread of dark web from the cavern ceiling, the thread grabbed Laurentinus and forcefully pulled the man back. While it did this, a pool of shade coagulated and erupted into a small spider, dripping with darkness. The other spider scuttled over to Laurentinus and bit him with a crushing bite, The mandibles could not pierce the armour to apply its dark venom though.

The Darkweavers activate their passive, Dark Weave. Kara is ensnared and cannot move from her location.

Darkweaver 1 used Dark Web on Laurentinus, he is moved backwards by two spaces. (5 AP)
It then summoned a Dark Hatchling (4 AP)
and moved away from Laurentinus (1 AP)

Darkweaver 2 got up (3 AP) and moved over to Laurentinus (2 AP)
Darkweaver 2 attacked with dark mandibles. Laurentinus failed to block. Darkweaver 2 dealt 19 damage and failed to apply Dark Poison. It dealt 19 damage but after armour reduction this becomes 15.

Rayyad blushed as Tessa held his hand, and wasn't sure how to respond. He instead focused on Conrad "Oh, uh, okay. Yeah that makes sense" Rayyad ceded, and began to lead them into the mines. It was dark down here, but Rayyad brought out a glowing crystal to lead the way. Occasionally they came across the odd spider, but they usually skittered away after a warning glance from Rayyad. Eventually, they arrived at a stone door "This is the furthest I've gotten" Rayyad stated, in the centre of the stone door was carved a grotesque arachnid face, with eight eyes with jewels inset. Two of the eyes were missing their jewels. "The ancients of Arak'Un used jewels for keys, for some reason, but I have no idea where the keys we need for this gate could be. Hmm" Rayyad glanced around the room, and noticed a sparkle in the side of the cave "Oh hey, that's convenient"

The room layout:
There is the big stone door with the two jewel-keys missing. To the side, there is a statue of a spider with a jewel in its mouth to the side, behind an open portcullis. There may be other things in the room in the shadows that you may wish to look at.

 

Aedan felt immediately more comfortable in the Everwood. This place was more familiar to him, as they had taken trips to this specific area to gather some herbs that only grew around here so that they could cultivate them back home. That, and they had visited another village much like his own which resided somewhere in the Everwood, so it felt almost like a second home. Sanderson recounted shortly an attempt to get up the Dragonclaw. Somehow, he was not surprised that they had only made it halfway. There was little vegetation that high up, because very little could survive on those rocky slopes. And it would have become harder to breathe. It would have been more or less impossible to do. Maybe one day, they'd figure out a way to climb the Dragonclaw. Until then, it was a beautiful mountain to look at.
"I am trained as a healer. If you stop the barrow a moment I shall take a look." Aedan looked at his injury and it seemed a little grim. He was surprised that he wasn't more seriously wounded, or even dead. It was certainly recoverable. It was a testament to Bryce's incredibly powerful body that he managed to survive that blow, and possibly his armour. Although it did seem odd that he had no helmet all of a sudden. Perhaps that incorrigible fool who called himself the Night Knight stole it. "One moment, there are some herbs that grow here in the Everwood that would help here. Allow me to gather some." Aedan gathered the appropriate herbs whose names he did not know and opened his inventory, bag of holding, bag of convenience bag where he had a few bandages lying around. He rushed back to the injured Bryce. First, he washed the wound with water from somewhere, then crushed the herbs over the wound to release a pungent, stinging liquid and then wrapped another type of herb into the bandage which he wrapped around Bryce. With that done, he looked at Sanderson.
"That's the best that I can do with what I have. He should recover in due course. The infusion there should animate his naturally healing processes to acting faster on his internal injurie and the other herbs help with scabbing over for faster closing of the external wound." He explained, putting some vaguely professional sounding medical bollocks to make it sound legit in the post. ​
