Here are some comparisons between the Gamecube and Wii U versions of the game. If you still think the HD version looks awful, then shame on you.

But sdgjksdfafhg everything that was shown oon the Nintendo Direct (this, the Monolith Soft RPG, Yarn Yoshi, the FExSMT crossover) makes me want a Wii U so much, but money... D:

You'll save that money buying thirty cent Famicom games.

I don't care either way if it has HD or SD. The story and gameplay itself is what I drive for. Being that it is my favorite title of all time, it now gives me an excuse to buy a WiiU sometime within the year.

As for the direct, it was surprising. I heard a while back that a Yoshi title was in the work, but didn't expect it to be Yarn based. The other games look pretty nice to. Seems like the WiiU has a promising future.

I think that gameplay is priority and then story and then graphics. I suppose some good franchises don't have amazing stories. Zelda's for example, but graphics shouldn't be the nail in the coffin. Ocarina Of Time, widely acclaimed best game ever made by a long shot, was made on a console that couldn't render a bottle shape, making the bottles diamond shaped. Goldeneye 007 for the N64 as well, has human beings with square heads. Graphics are just a bonus, the cherry on top.

Couldn't and didn't are really two different things....

Look at that beautiful hexagonal bottom! You can also see it being round when being held. Why it looks like it does when you get certain items is straight up beyond me.

And square really is the wrong word for the 007 heads.

Keep in mind also that we didn't really catch this too much at time, afterall, we had just come off of this:

Seriously, are any of these identifiable objects or some lovely polygons?

Back then, this kind of stuff was mind-blowing. It looked realistic as could be, like truly staring into another world of pure fantasy.

Sorry, I get passionate about old games. What were we talking about?

    Oh right- do graphics matter?

We'd all be lying to ourselves to say aesthetic beauty didn't matter a squeak to us. Hell, we'd all be wrong. Graphical power is one of the reasons people don't want the WiiU as a next-gen console. Graphical power was Sega's marketing ploy against the NES. Use of graphics and art can help aid a game's feel and tone (Bastion) and they can also stall, if not prevent, age (Okami, Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, Mega Man, and Wind Waker). Graphical choices are very important and go hand-in-hand with the entire experience. Claiming it doesn't matter wouldn't lead to us purchasing HD TVs and being mad at the Wii for looking like a better PS2. And if it doesn't really matter at all....

    Go play this: http://lparchive.org/The-You-Testament/

^A game where the graphics are so terrible before mods, that it's nearly unplayable due to laughter vs serious subject matter.

Better yet, without jumping into extremes:

Can you really tell me that these below are games you'd play just by looking at?

And you can't tell me you wouldn't mind playing this:

Gameplay is one part of the formula. But aesthetics, plot and sound all play a huge role in making the experience enjoyable. Only when they work in tandem does a game really shine.

You know WHY? Because Nintendo REMOVED dungeons under the assumption that players wouldn't finish the game if it was too long.
So they added the Triforce Hunt

But a lot of people play Zelda FOR the dungeons, and who doesn't like long games? Nintendo must have been on some sort of high to come up with that assumption.

Basically, they had a statistic that said people didn't beat Ocarina of Time because there were too many dungeons, so they took some out
    Yeah

People didn't finish Ocarina when it came out? Majora's Mask came out after Ocarina, had four dungeons and didn't get as much positive reception. You learn something new everyday.

It stunned me too. My father is super busy but he usually finishes the few games he plays. But then he doesn' t sleep much ...

It' s probably the part of the game that made the most most people give up. ^^

Yeah. Although I love and want the game, I still need some more games to see myself buying the console. This is just a prime title that makes me curious. Until I see some more games (and the price drops) just gonna sit back and wait.

Hate to break it to you, but Nintendo has more or less said that they won't be lowering the price for as long as possible

I am aware they have said that. I don't expect a price drops for another 3 years in fact. With the PS4 and 720 coming out most likely this year near Q4, they will want the price to remain high enough, but if the price is too high compared to the competition, it won't end well. Luckily for them, the other two are pretty greedy as well and charge an unprecedented amount of money for a console that is really worth a 3rd of the price. I do see a possible price drop in Q4, but I am not getting my hopes up.

Well, if anything Nintendo are the greedy ones, cheaping out on parts so they can sell at a profit. Sony has actually sold the PS3 at a loss in order to generate sales.
But yeah, I seriously doubt Sony or Microsoft can beat 249 dollars for a brand new next gen console.
