Phantasy Star Universe and Phantasy Star Portable (haven't played, but my friend owns both so hopefully the day will come)
And I've only heard of Phantasy Star Universe Ambition of the Illuminus

Ah, only the core version of Ambition? That's a damn shame, since the information I learned relates to that.
If you can, I'd recommend getting Ambition. If I remember right, it's free to download now, and you can do a limited-functionality mode online without having to pay. Or at least, you can with the japanese version, not that that would help.
If you're interested in the story but not much else, there's some really good playthroughs of the online story.

But Portable 1 is great too. Vivienne is such a cutie.
