It is possible that whatsherface survived, she just 'spontaneously' got TB? Maybe she didn't die, maybe she was just drugged with something to make her cough up blood but nothing more. It just strikes me as odd that they never actually said "She's dead."

Well, Irene had been letting her feelings for Holmes get the best of her for a while, so he might've planted it earlier and just let it take effect.

Also, it's natural that they don't mention it as Holmes' feelings for her were too strong to just let it go. He doesn't talk about her because he'd get all emotional and he has to protect the Watsons from Moriarty and his sick and twisted self.

Also, the scene where he was hung from a rope and hook made me wanna punch a baby. NOTHING makes me wanna punch a baby.

That is true, it must have been a very gradual thing as TB isn't something that will instantly kill you. It just didn't seem like they should kill her off completely. Well, they probably did... or they probably left it deliberately open so they can decide the outcome in the future properly, like they could give her an exciting comeback or she could really just be dead.

Or maybe Holmes knew that she'd be in danger and he gave her a backup plan. Like his wedding gift to Watson saved his life or something.

Well, I hope she comes back. Sadly though, I feel like she's gone for good.

 

Ahh well, we'll just have to see. ^^
