Got it. Was going to say more, but...couldn't figure out how to word it without sounding condescending of people trying to define their beliefs with such detail.

Well, I edited my post a bit. That statistic's source (a death rate statistics analysis) has since gone down so I moved things around and removed it, but you should get the idea.

There are as many ways to define anarchism as there are anarchists. It isn't something you read about in a book. I came to this conclusion on my own and so has every anarchist I have met. The common thread among all anarchists is that all interactions should be voluntary. Every service that a state provides—be it mail, defense of property, road building, the printing of currency, court proceedings or anything—can just as easily be handled by private businesses that people pay for willingly. A state is made up many branches that are really just private companies that got contracted with the government and given a license to do something "federally".

In a free market, when one of these companies does a bad job or people stop wanting the service, the company loses customers and dies. Take defense for example. Imagine if bodyguard agencies were to replace the police. If people decided they could defend themselves more efficiently, then they would, and the defense market would plummet. That is the way it should be; people should only buy what they want to buy.

If a company was doing a bad job but people still want the service, then they will pay someone else to do it or see an opportunity to start a business themselves and make a profit from the opening. This kind of competition will drive the company to excellence and to drive their prices down to beat out other companies. In that model, the one that pleases and gets the most customers wins out... This is especially important in defence because a monopoly on defence leads to protection rackets and protection rackets eventually get called taxes.

Now, imagine that you have to buy from one company because all of the others were cut out before they could start. If you wanted to buy defence, you would have to buy from them, and if you wanted to get a job in the defence market, you would have to work for them. That would mean that they could give whatever quality service they wanted and charge whatever they wanted. They would have no economic incentive to improve the quality of their service.

A state is exactly that: an organization that has instituted a monopoly on defense within a certain area. No one is allowed to defend people without joining their ranks.

But it is worse than them being the only company and having no incentive to improve. On top of that, they manufacture the demand for their service by forcing you to buy it whether they want it or not. If being the only company providing a service does not spell disaster for the quality of your work, then becoming someone to be defended from yourself certainly is.

This is something the anarchist despises for reasons that should be obvious.

Well, at least you are honest.

You should if you ever have any questions again. I dislike repeating myself because people have read-only memory or simply did not read.

It seems every time I want to reply to your posts, I type up a long paragraph...and just end up deleting it anyway.

When in doubt, I have discussed the subject at length at least three hundred times. One would do best to think it through for at least a couple of days before bothering me if this is their first time hearing about the subject.

Like with Buddhism (they overlap quite a bit), if your first thought is to object, then you are missing the point and have given in to intellectual laziness.

If that is what you mean.

...I just mean I can't complete a thought about the subject, I think. I'm not at all educated enough about it, so I stop myself before saying anything.

In other news, I've finally killed 2 Colossi.

Oh no, I have. But I had a dentist's appointment at 2:30PM, so I got off school early.
However, the appointment has been cancelled :/

But I still get off, so I don't mind.

    Hey guys.

It's been raining so much down here. You'd think that The Sunshine State would have a bit more sun during the summer.
