Yeah, he's one of the main character, one of the oldest and 2nd in command after Max. I liked Nudge best despite her being all girly and unable to shut up, I loved her enthusiasm for everything.

 

Considered reading the manga version of it, but it's so hard to get used to reading left-to-right.

'fraid not, but it's not a mistake either. I'm an avid manga reader, have been for years, and just gotten too used to the way they do it. The Maximum Ride manga is a western-style manga, so it's read the 'normal' way rather than the way I'm used to.

In that case, the term you are looking for is "Graphic Novel" and not manga.

 

It refers to itself as a manga on the back cover.

 

Have you ever heard of false advertising? A work must originate in Japan to be called manga, because manga is a Japanese term.
