Went to see the hunger games today. I have to say that I was underwhelmed..it was very...quiet. A few things wrong and Peeta's actor was bad(Katniss wasn't much better).

 

I was just happy that they followed the story. After Eragon and Lightning Thief, I didn't have much hope.

 

Well yeah, but the one glaring issue was Peeta and leg and stuff near the end. That was off.
It really wasn't that or the acting though, it just seemed too quite(>Too used to movies with music). Plus the shaky shaky camera whenever action occurred.

 

Yeah, they messed that bit up. To be fair though, it was a 2 and a half hour movie. The leg thing would have added too much length. First they would have had to show him not getting better, then the tourniquet, then the fake leg at the end. The one thing I'm upset about is after

District 11 rioted. In the book, they gave her bread.

 

Oh yeah I forgot about that. Guess they were looking for more emotion or something, blah.
I understood the fact they had to compress the book into 2 and a half hours so I'm trying to ignore that. I think the real problem was that it was overhyped, which happens allot.

 

I personally think the bread thing was more emotional. A district thanking a tribute from a different district for her kindness to their tribute. A riot just breeds bad feelings. A gesture of gratitude is a bit of joy surrounding a tragedy.

It also never explained the significance of the three-finger thing.

 

I agree, but you know silly film makers.
My friend who hadn't read the book was soo lost about the fingers until we explained. I was sadface that Haymitch didn't fall down a staircase. :c
