Last Names in Usernames

What are your guys' opinions on using last names of characters you're being?

For me it seems to vary -- no real reason behind it. For example, when I was being Hyuga Ryght from Phantasy Star Universe, my username was Hyuga Ryght. However, when I was being Yut Jun Yunkers from Phantasy Star Portable 2, I just went with Yut.

Some cases where I think last names would be required or would be more clear as to who you are would be in cases like when I was Danny Phantom and my username was Danny Phantom. I don't think just Danny would have sufficed.

Personally, I go with first name only unless forced otherwise. Especially in video games. They never seem to handle 2 names well in games. Why would EVERY NPC call me Arc Eiros or Ilitsa Kurono? First name or last name only are plenty sufficient. in Forum names, I seriously fail to see the purpose in a first and last name system for a user name, it seems extremely redundant.

It kinda depends on the situation. Since my last name is very uncommon in America, I can use it a lot. But my first name is a common name in America I think.

 

I think it's your username and you should use whatever you want

personally, I think using characters names as your username is kinda dumb

 

I'm talking about fictional characters' last names, not real people's last names.

 

It depends on how the character is known. Some characters, like Danny Phantom or Timmy Turner or Stephen Stills (from scott pilgrim) are well known using both names. Other characters, like Naruto or Korra are known by only their first names. It depends on the character themselves.

 

So, technically speaking, I would have just gone with Hyuga when I was being Hyuga Ryght from PSU instead of Hyuga Ryght?

It's really a preference if anything. I tend to use last names if I want to or if the characters first name is probably taken (e.g. Jane Crocker's or Rise Kujikawa's first names are probably already gone).

Ultimately it doesn't matter if you want the full name or not
