Anyone else disappointed with the game? It looks like GTA but if you can't beat the hookers or cause mayhem, what's the point?

Wow. Wooow. The point of the game is not to be able to cause mayhem and kill everyone. You're a detective, and you're trying to solve crimes. It's a very brilliant and innovative game and I'm sorry that you can't see that.

L.A. Noire is not meant to play like GTA which admittedly isn't even all that good. Every open world game doesn't base itself off of GTA. L.A. Noire isn't the best game ever created but the story and characters are pretty damn good. The game is designed to make you think. If you don't want to go through that, then you should start researching games before you buy them.

    Glad Trigger agrees.8D

i know it's not supposed to be the same type of game. I was just making a joke.

My real problem with the game is how clumsy it feels. The investigations...find the cluse and then the interogations...just has an awkward feeling to it.

At least it was a joke. <<

Well this is the first game of it's type unless you want to attempt to consider Heavy Rain as the same "type" of game. I'm sure if a sequel(direct or spiritual like Red Dead Redemption was to RDR)...then the flow would be more natural. The story itself progressed smoothly at least. I think what you really should complain about is the movement about the world which felt clumsy at times. Also, there wasn't enough opportunities to make Cole fall off places to hear his funny yell. XD

It does indeed seem a tad repetitive, but the game in itself has a good story and is revolutionary when it comes to facial expressions. I can see that some people wouldn't enjoy it, especially if you're a fan of free roam/sandbox (so to speak) games.

i just finished this game yesterday morning. i have to admit that the investigations do feel a little awkward at times. for example, sometimes the evidence you're supposed to use isn't clear when calling someone on a lie. i know they kind of try to point you in the right direction when you hit lie, but sometimes it still isn't clear. and sometimes i feel the investigations ended too abruptly, when i find a bloody knife at a suspects home, i'm thinking "come on! who would REALLY leave that out in the open?!"

i do enjoy the thinking elements of the game, i always try to piece together what happened. however, i wish there was a way to "fail" the investigation besides accusing the wrong person (because sometimes there is only one person to accuse) because there are times when i have no sense of what happened but i end up succeeding anyway which feels a bit undeserved XD

but while there is some flaws, i find it to be at least enjoyable. can be repetitive at times, but i liked it.

The gameplay, the voice acting and game world are awesome, but the story can be downright awful. A lot of bad choices in that department.

I found the game boring. I played it at a friend's house and it wasn't much fun. The driving is horrible, the plot is terrible, the characters aren't likeable (especially the main) and some of the faces look really good, but there are a number that are the typical "Rockstar blur face". The voice acting was good though, they had a decent cast. I actually only liked the shooting and fisticuffs because it wasn't "KILL EVERYTHING" as usual but more "Subdue the criminal and investigate them afterwards". It's kinda like Heavy Rain but not anywhere near as terrible, but for my tastes it's not my cup of tea, though that shouldn't mean anyone else can't like it.

Even if it's not your typical Grand Theft Auto, the pacing of the game itself felt very long and also tedious. I watched my girlfriend's uncle play it the other day, and though the graphic quality of the game was very superb, even just watching it felt like something was very awkward throughout the whole game. I don't mind much about length, seeing that I view the game more as Heavy Rain with a gun, but I suppose the extreme repetitiveness makes the game a chore.
