Kristin Kreuk to play Chun-Li in Street Fighter movie!

Meh, never seen the first Street Fighter movie, but if it is good as people said the first one was, then I don't see a problem. =D

 

Never seen Street Fighter?

I OWN the first Street Fighter movie. And let me tell you, it was cool when I first saw it. However, in between when it came out in the theater and when it came out on DVD (about a 10 year gap, I guess), I watched it again and realized that it wasn't as good as I thought it was. The last battle between Guile (Jean Claude Van Damme) and M. Bison (Raul Julia) basically had Guile doing all the flashy fighting while Bison basically spammed air boots and lightning from his fingers. Dhalism was a scientist and not a fighter and Blanka ended up being some sci-fi lab experiment that didn't do anything at all except growl and act like a gorilla. Granted, Ryu and Ken vs. Vega and Sagat wasn't bad. However, the one time Ryu does his patented Hadoken move, it just ends up being a flash of light toward the camera. E. Honda vs. Zangief didn't really go anywhere. Dee Jay, Balrog, Cammy, Chun-Li, T.Hawk and the others were pretty much screwed up.

Bottom line: there were so many fighters, none of them actually stood out strongly enough to shine. And the one's that we did want to see kick butt, didn't use the moves they were so famous for.

So, I hope this new movie doesn't blow it. We wouldn't want another "Mario Bros." movie coming out. :dead:

And in case you didn't know, Chun-Li in the original movie was played by Ming Na (the English VA of Mulan).

In that case, disregard my opinion as insane rambling. The plot and the fight scenes are still worth watching, though. And the ending must be seen to believe it. :D

But back on topic (where I should've been in the first place): Kristin might actually be able to pull it off. Of course, seeing her in pigtails isn't exactly the first thing I think about when I imagine her as Chun-Li...

 

This is interesting... I never expected that there will be another Street Fighter movie. I hope they the movie turns out well in the end.

...As hot as the idea sounds, I dunno. She did managed to kick some ass in Smallville; Season 2 - Episode 19: Precipice.

(Yes, I have up to Season 1 - 5 on DVD. Nothing wrong with that.)
