This is my own personal guide to the most amazing game in the history of Roll Playing Games; Kingdom Hearts. I will create it into parts seeing how I can hardly remember the first part, lol, but I will try.

This Guide is based on the Normalsetting.
    Chapter 1: Awakening

After the intro movie you will be transported to the tutorial world. After listening to the instructions you will be sent to an area were you must choose a weapon (which will result the increase of a primary stat.) For me I choose the Dream Shield as a weapon and I give up the Dream Rod. When you choose the Dream Shield your defense will be your primary stat which will really give you an advantage against stronger foes and do not worry about your strength. Instead of having weak strength you gave up your Dream Rod which give a moderate amount of strength. After that finish up the tutorial, save, and continue up to the floating stairway and into your first boss battle.

    Darkside
Strategy: First allow him to slam his fist into the ground but stay clear if he hits you your HP will drop dangerously low. If you are not hit by the fist of Darkside than you should have no reason to use the potions you obtained earlier. When his hand is in range, keep pounding it with the Dream Shield. Air Combos and regular Combos, when on ground, are great. Take some time to fight the Shadows that appear from the puddle of darkness. You should level up once from the previous fighting of Shadows on the lower levels. When you level up once continue destroying Darkside's hand. Eventually he will submit into defeat you should level up again. After defeating Darkside watch the cut scene and continue to Destiny Island.

Picking the Shield is definitely the way to go. You'll learn Guard early, which is really nice if you actually learn to use it. Especially in Final Mix where you can get "Tech Plus" abilities which will further up the experience you gain from blocking. You'll also have more item slots, but I never use items so...

Giving up Dream Rod results in you losing Magic, but Defense is a better attribute, the best combintation would be keep dream shield and sword, but lose dream rod. After that, when you get to Tidus, Wakka and Selphie, I always choose the answers in this order just to fight at night:

    Answer 1
    Answer 3
    Answer 1

I think it give you night, it did for me.

If you pick the first answers you will get easy xp in the start
If you pick the second answers it will be just as easy to get xp in the whole game
If you pick the third answers it will be easy to get xp in the end

Ah, that clears it up now. Thanx! But, since I like really tough to beat fighting games, I just go for nighttime because it is the HARDEST first level you have. There's even something about the game that tells me that.

Well, after you break 40 it switches off to the other way around with EXP.

For me, it was always like this:

    1-39: Easy EXP at start
    40-???: Not easy EXP. Ever.

That is what I meant, granted looking back I wasn't too clear.
    Dawn - 01-40=easy; 41-100=hard
    midday - 01-100=medium
    night - 01-40=hard; 41-100=easy

Night time rocks for me, I always go out on a limb when I play KH and KH2. Like, to the point that limb should have broken and fallen to a million pieces by now.
