Kingdom Hearts: Twilight's Darkness

Adrien grinned and wiped his forehead, "I'm alright. That's one of Martel's tricks that she showed me before I entered any fights. I've got plenty energy left. Don't worry about me, Cat." he cracked his neck and felt a rush of energy flood through his body. A source of light that emitted through his soul and body. He pushed through some brush and led the way for Cat toward Haven's Twilight City.

Martel fell silent, she didn't know what to say. Soon she heard it. The sound she'd been fearing. A hunting horn of Neo's favorite person. Xenree. Martel wasn't sure if she was a Nobody herself, she'd never seen one like her, but she was certain Xenree wasn't human. Poking her head out, Martel drew up her hood and watched Xenree marching down the road toward them. Dressed in her usual black cloak and boots and black gloves with a third of Haven's Keyblade army behind her, carrying some glowing fruit. The Moon Fruit....what Adrien needed to heal his grandmother.

Ash laughed harshly, "It is....but at least there's a place to sleep and food to eat every day. I'm gratefull for the things I have though and Lilly." Ash kept walking through the park, touching the chainlink fence occasionally and smiled gently at the children that would briefly gather around his knees. "Neo says I'm well known and liked all through Haven and even Lumini.....but I fail to see it. Unless it's in a child's eyes. Children like me until they join the army and see how....cold I am in battle. They hold fantasies about battle that are destroyed when it becomes real. It breaks their spirit and some new recruites die in their first battle." He was running out of things to talk about with Lynn and found himself rambling.

 

Faya watched Martel, mimicking her. Juno followed, pulling everyone inside the carriages after feeling a dark energy so terrifying she had to keep everyone in. "So, what's in her hands?" Faya whispered, wondering if her "arms" could reach the fruit if needed.

 

"...Well then..."
Cat felt a bit stupid after seeing that. She was a bit tired herself but looking at Adrien now, it seemed like he barely broke a sweat in that fight.
Well, well... didn't know the guy had it in 'im. Looks like I won't have to be watching his back after all...
She followed him out of the forest and into Haven. Soon, the real test would begin.

 

Martel whispered, "That would be the Moon Fruit. A fruit a dear friend of mine needs to make his grandmother well again. I'd come to ask Neo about giving it up and removing the barricade in the Dark Forest but....I see Xenree already has it. I'd hoped she would not find it." Xenree marched past Martel, smiling and suddenly her Keyblade flashed in her hand and a bolt of dark lightning flashed down from the sky and fried a soldier. The others stopped, staring at the place their comrade had stood as now a black charred mark stained the road. "No one eats the fruit. It reaches King Neo without blemishes. Or you pay with your lives!" she snarled and continued on. They all hurried after her and Martel felt sorrow build in her at the death of a soldier in front of her.

Adrien steeled himself as they now gazed at the road that lead to Haven. Haven's looming gates were the only thing blocking him from Neo now. "When I get my hands on that filth....I'm gonna wring his royal little neck!" he kept his voice hushed as Haven soldiers patrolled the roads. Forcing his anger down, Adrien breathed deeply and set his feet on the road to Haven. The Dark Forest behind them, Adrien was certain he could get in with Cat and hopefully not die when he started his plan.

 

She heard his words and knew she shouldn't meddle. If that was his ultimate goal, then he needed to reach it without any unessecary interferences. As for her, well... she always had HER goals, but maybe they would HAVE to work together to achieve them both...
If we're ever going to get to Ash, we'll have to pass Neo at some point... if we killed Neo, it'd probably be an all out war. If that ever happened I would need to know who i'd fight for. If i'm just an innocent bystander again...
She curled both hands into fists, flashes of all the lives taken because of her helplessness crossed her mind in what seemed like a split second. She wasn't going to let it happen again. Adrien was going to come out alive, and if anyone was to die... this time... she would make sure that SHE was protecting HIM. She walked up to the gate to examine any possible entrances. She found none but tried to summon No Name and see if it would help anything, if there were any hidden locks.

 

Lynn followed along behind Ash, holding her hands behind her back as she stared down at the shadows on the ground. She silently listening to the man before her and didn't speak right away even after he had finished.

Battle...death... These things sound so familiar. Was I, too, a warrior? Or perhaps, one of this town, where these things sound common...

"There must be happiness too though... Like the park..." She mumbled, unsure of what exactly she was saying and already embarrassed of her words.

 

Ash hesitated, "Hmm? Oh, of course!" he grinned widely, "There's um, the Day of Twilight. It's a celebration of our Twilight King's rule. He's been good to us....he deserves a day of his own. There's fireworks....food, drink....parties all over Haven....and even the most serious of soldiers let loose for once. I on the other hand...." his face paled slightly and he shook his head, "Never mind."

Adrien smiled at her, relaxing the hate from his face, "Let me." he touched his right hand to the blackened gate and recited something in a different language. After he finished, the gates shifted and slowly opened on their own. He looked back at Cat and weakly smiled, "My grandmother was originally from Haven....she taught me their old magic. Old magic binds the protective barriers around Haven's walls and seals this gate. Only those who are invited in by a Haven-born child or those who know the language of old can move freely into Haven. Travelers are usually let in by the Gate Keeper...." he looked around, seeing no one he shrugged and moved through the gate. Twilight Road lie ahead of them. A long cobble stone road with several caravans with merchants on it and only a few, scarce pillars of twili-energy glowed, keeping it dimly lit.

 

"Well, that's quite impressive. I never imagined that you would have roots in Haven."
She let No Name disappear and walked into the city. She remembered seeing some of the city as a child, though she got out as soon as she got the chance. She could never forget what had happened within these walls.
We're almost there. Once we find Ash i'll be able to get stronger... maybe i'll even be able to help Adrien kill Neo.
She walked, focused on her goals and thinking about what the future might hold for them.

 

Lynn smiled slightly as she listened him talk about the Day of Twilight. She almost completely missed his trailing off at the end.

"When is that?"

She asked, obviously excited about it. Something about fireworks... She didn't know for sure, but that word just made her happy. She had to go and see what they were.

 

Ash glanced up at the dark sky and hummed lightly to himself, "About three days from now.... You sure picked a good time to come to Haven, Lynn." He didn't look back at her as he walked. Ash refused to let Lynn see how much the Day of Twilight bothered him.

Adrien walked silently beside Cat down the Twilight Road. "Yes...My distant relatives were born in Haven....when the first war came and everyone fled Haven for Lumini...they went with... My father and mother died trying to re-enter Haven. Neo killed them." his voice turned cold and hateful.

 

For a reason unknown to her, Lynn became overjoyed and ran ahead.

"Heh..." She said, looking down at the ground and she walked. "Three days seems like too much now. But I guess I can wait."

She spun around and ran back to Ash, laughing nervously, embarrassed of her actions. "But... What do we do till then?"

 

Faya watched the lightning, the Keyblade, amazed. She would fight too, using her mental arms of energy to punch against those Martel was attacking.

 

Ash smiled at her energy, "Well Neo asked me to show you around....so I guess showing you the true colors of Haven is my duty...." he frowned momentarily and steered Lynn toward a building that seemed to pulse with activity. A sign out front flashed from white with black lettering to black with white lettering. "The Nom de Nom. Best place for our warriors to relax after a day of fighting....also the best place to show you what Haven denizens are like." Ash held the door open for Lynn. The Nom de Nom was smokey inside and held the lingering scent of ale, smoke and sweat. Fierce Keyblade Warriors leaned against the bar and in booths around the room.

Martel scurried from the caravan and hurried after the army. She pulled her hood tight and walked swiftly, I have to hurry.... Running along the dimly light Twilight Road wasn't advised but it was at least moderately safe as the Twili-lights kept what Heartless they could away from the Road.

 

Faya followed Martel, upset she had to run from her family. That was quickly pushed to the side as she would fight against those that did her wrong in Haven.

 

"That's terrible, though he IS the king of Darkness, so i'm not surprised he would do something like that..."
She couldn't believe what Adrien had been through. Maybe they had more in common than she first thought. Well, they had both witnessed crual bloodshed in their pasts and they were both returning to the source of it.
Well... now I know i've gotta help Adrien. We have a common pain, and we can both fix it by finding Neo. We find Neo, we may find Ash. We find Ash, and I can get stronger to help Adrien KILL Neo.
She just kept walking, thinking about all of this and hoping that they could find Ash without getting killed...

 

Martel followed at a hurried pace after the army until they reached the entrance of Haven. Though the road didn't look any different or the lights...the dark houses lining it and the darkened castle looming at the end of the road made her stop dead in her tracks. "I must not fear returning to my home....I must do this for my brother....for Mithos' dream." she mumbled to herself and cautiously started into the city.

Adrien accepted Cat's words without a word and kept moving, passing by each Twili-light with barely a glance at the floating little ball of Twilight inside the orbs. They passed caravans of the merchants and entertainers without hesitation, "They say once you pass by the entertainers and merchants on the Twilight Road...you're almost to Haven... I hope we're prepared..." for once Nightmare stayed out of his thoughts and was silent. Good...not like I need her telling me how actually afraid I am to confront Neo or meet Ash....

 

Looked into the building, waving away the smoke and coughing slightly. Very reluctantly did she enter the place.

Why does it smell so bad?

Lynn looked around the room, waiting for Ash to enter as well before daring another step further into the place.

 

Faya stopped with Martel, placing a weight on her shoulder similar to a hand. "So, where we headed?" she was eager to knock some heads togethor.

Bio: a man who can only be described as a mad scientist, he is one of the, if not the, smartest people in all of Haven. He leads the research team when it comes to both biological and technological advances, yet still is able to keep on par as a warrior, mostly due to his keyblade's assistance in his training. Even in his younger years, he surpassed people twice his age with his vast learning capacity, allowing him to reach such a high position despite his young age. Though he is reliable, he is at the same time quite shady, never revealing anything except for that which he chooses, even to his king. His relationships with people can be said to be just as cold, doing countless experiments on people whom he sees fit, even at the cost of their own arms. Other than that, he lives a fairly glorious life, that of a rich man, watching over the city from the top of a tower.
Other: One of the things which are highly noticible is his use of gadgets on the field. He normally carry's his gun, low level explosives, and his goggles which he tends to use for tracking energy (light and dark).

((Hope you don't mind the late bio, nor the slight reference to S.I.C's char. I figured it would fit to make it if he's the head of such things. None the less, I do hope that it's not too high a position for a new comer such as myself. And of course, Long Live the Twilight King))

bic: Ash followed Lynn inside, he could tell she was nervous. He breathed deeply of the scent of smoke and ale. "C'mon Lynn, relax... No one here will dare hurt you as long as I stand at your side. I am after all...Commander of the King's Knights. The only one who believes she surpasses my position is Xenree....and pray to Enoch you never have to meet her." he sounded resentful of the woman. Ash led her into a booth at the back, nudging her into the seat near the wall so he could sit with his back to the people. "It's not so bad here Lynn....You'll get used to it." He guestured to the waitress and ordered an lager for himself, "Anything you want Lynn?"

Martel steadied herself and glanced at Faya, "The Castle. I require King Neo's assistence in something I cannot do alone." she said no more and started into the city. Haven....it's dark walls closed around her and a chill settled into her bones. I must not show fear to these people. I am the Queen of Light...I am the Ruler of Lumini...
