Kingdom Hearts: Twilight's Darkness

Cat told them her story and how the strange man from Lumini had attacked a simple passerby. She talked about his strange calling card and how he left a bullet wound in the man's arm. She made sure to be as polite as possible and not to seem rude or arrogant. When she was done she looked at them both.

"Is that explanation sufficient? If it is then do you think you could point me to this man? I want to have a word with him. Ask him why he would do what he did..."

 

Martel gratefully followed the woman. The men scowled, searching for their victum. "Move it! Or tell us where she is." one growled. Hiding and peaking in between the people watching Faya dance, Martel laughed softly, My luck is turning....thank goodness. Turning back toward the woman who'd saved her, she smiled, keeping her hood down, "I owe you my life. You saved me from a fate far worse than death. How can I ever repay you?"

Neo kept her hand in his and his eyes unfocused as he looked at her, "Hm, very interesting. Would you mind....coming with me back to the castle?" he asked politely and Ash shifted from foot to foot. "Is this a good idea? The last person you took to see them died, Neo. It would..." he stopped talking as he realized his King wasn't listening. Grabbing his shoulder, Ash met Neo's scowl with a brave look, "Listen to me for once in your life Neo! Taking her, no matter the situation, is dangerous. There's a lot of--" Neo rolled his eyes and lifted a hand to stop him, "I understand the consequences, but she cannot remember anything. Perhaps Apollimi would know something. I, obviously, don't. Lynn," he smiled at her as he said her name, "Is unique. We must take care of her."

Alice and Adrien lowered their Keyblades and quietly mumbled to eachother. Adrien keeping his eyes on Cat, "Why should I trust her? She's from Haven." "I'm not asking you to trust her. I'm asking you to trust me." she kept his focus on her for a moment and watched Adrien struggle with his emotions. "Rrrgh, fine. I think I know who she means. The only one with a gun that doesn't kill people that I know is Max. He...lives somewhere along the border."

 

"Spend the night." The woman smiled. "I am Juno, head of my little caravan of Karma Gypsies. There isn't much food to share around, so if you have a little money or thieving skills we'd be happy to cook."
Soon the music slowed down, as with the dancing. It was finishing slowly, complete with the final silent ringing of bangles. Some clapped, the others moved about their business. Either way everyone was starting to pack up for the soon dark dead night of this road.

 

A sweat drop formed on the side of Lynn's forehead, but quickly fell and vanished from sight. She then listened as they continued to talk.

Died?

She was willing to do anything for some answers at this point so she swallowed her fear, almost literally, as she debated over whether or not if it was worth living when she didn't even know anything about her past. There could even be a family out there waiting for her to come back, worried that she might be dead. And that person she keeps seeing... Maybe they, too, is waiting for her.

"I am not afraid," which was half true at this point, "I wish to see this...Apollimi if she really might know something."

 

"Thank you for your trust and honesty. I think I can find my way to the border from here, but if either of you are still conflicted you can follow me and make sure i'm not the same as the Haven scum who love to kill..."
She looked at Adrien, knowing that Alice felt that there was, at the very least, some truth to what she said.
Max huh...? Alright... i'm gonna show this creep, one way or another, what happens when you attack innocent bystanders for fun.
Cat was incredibly against pointless fighting and violence. She found herself caught in the middle of many pointless fights as she first learned to control her keyblade. Somehow No Name knew whether light or darkness would help her in any situation and summoned that force, almost on its own. She never knew how but she believed that No Name held the power to be used both ways... and that it might be a help to stopping the wars between Haven and Lumini... one day. She felt like she just had to stop the pointless bloodshed or her hard work in trying to create a peaceful future would be futile.

BIC: Martel shook her head and offered a smile, "That's quite alright, I have money. I wouldn't want to put you all out like this." her mossy green eyes glittered from under her hood and pieces of purple hair fell out of her hood. Martel irritably pulled her hood lower to hide her face, though she doubted whether or not a caravan on the Road of Twilight would know what she looked like. Having stayed clear of Haven for so long since she'd fled her home, Martel believed many of the people had forgotten what she looked like.

Neo smiled broadly at Lynn and gave Ash a 'I told you so' kind of look that had Ash rolling his eyes. "What did I say. She wants to go and I cannot refuse a lady." Ash grumbled, "Yeah...like you couldn't refuse all the other women you've brought to the castle. And they didn't have anything wrong with their memory." Neo ignored him and led Lynn toward the looming black walls of the Twilight Castle. "Oh, it's not so bad. I'm sure Haven looks very intimidating to you Lynn, but it's quite a nice place." he trailed off as his eyes caught on a scene in a bar. Unwilling to stare overly long, he kept his eyes on the road ahead and the safety of his castle.

Alice watched Adrien trail after her, his eyes focused on her. Adrien had incredibly bright green eyes and they followed Cat every step of the way. Nightmare complained to his mind, What's the point of this? I think Max can handle himself with just a girl. Adrien shook his head, speaking out loud to his Keyblade he held in his hand, "No, this woman is from Haven, I can smell it. She's trouble and Max'll need me there if she uses her dark powers on him. No one here is used to fighting against Haven warriors. We're not trained that way Nightmare." Nightmare groaned.

 

"I like it here so far..."

She mumbled as she followed the two to the castle. After noticing that Neo had glanced over at a bar she looked in that direction as well, but after seeing nothing that caught her eye right away she returned her attention forward again, only to notice that she was falling behind. She rushed forward to catch up and once she was close behind the two again she evened out her pace.

"What is the 'castle' like anyway?"

 

OOC: Thanx, I'll try to jump in when I see an oppurtunity. BTW, I've decided to change Perpetua's hair color to a reddish-brown instead of white. Just thought I'd let everyone know.

 

Cat could almost feel a strange prescence. She knew Adrien was following him but she felt as though something else was close to them. Once they reached the border of Lumini she took no time at all in finding a single house. It was very plain and not difficult to see, but considering most people had no reason to come to the border it was mostly secluded. She turned around and looked at Adrien, but she couldn't help but look at the Keyblade he was holding. No Name wasn't reacting in any way so the darkness must not be all that... evil. Usually the darkness has evil tendencies but maybe his key was like No Name... maybe it only let all of its true power out when its wielder was in danger...

"Uh... I think I can handle it from here. Would you like to wait out here?"

She tried to keep her voice steady, still uneasy over the feeling she got from his key.

 

As soon as the crossover to Haven came into sight Max broke out into a sprint, his sword rapidly swinging back and forth with his arms. He ran until he knew he was in Haven's territory, and slowed down after moving about 30 yards into it. He then slowed to a walk, his heavy breathing breaking the silence around him. It was as if he could already feel a..different force. He tightened his grip on the sword, looking around warily, as if he was being watched, even though he was all alone on the outskirts."Just come out and fight!" he shouted, throwing his right arm with the sword in the air, rapidly and quickly swinging downward. He heard something rustle in the bush, but then all of the sudden Max's shoulders relaxed, the misty warm air around him filling him with a kind of relaxation.No..have to stay on track. he thought, shaking it off and continuing to walk, dragging his sword on the ground behind him.

 

Juno smiled deeply, pulling Martel into a wagon. The air was lightly traced with the sweet smell of incense and smoke. "This is one of our wagons, the others can only be accessed through here." It was true, the alleyway there was so narrow that the one wagon made an entrance to the others in a small back square where a fire was burning. Other wagons surrounded it. "Everyone should be coming in with food soon."
Faya and her siblings all went around shopping in the market for meats and breads, a bit of cheese, and clothes for anyone that was lacking. She led the way to the entrance of their temporary home, counting every head.

Ash and Neo glanced back curiously at Lynn, "Did she just....?" "Now now, Ash, that's rude. Lynn, the Castle is just my home. Despite what people say about it, there's nothing special about it. You see," he pointed to the black Castle before them,"Most of the Castle is for me, but the tallest spire there is the Prayer Room. You see a bunch of women go there at ungodly hours and sing and pray to Apollimi and Enoch for the things that the people want. I only go there when...." he hesitated and Ash shoved him playfully. Perhaps a bit to rough seeing as Neo fell over, "What his Majesty means is that, Neo's out of touch with the people so he has his little monk women do the praying for him. Only when Neo needs something does he actually visit his parents." Neo stood, brushing himself off, "I don't think adding that I'm their son helped my case." he scowled at Ash and Ash flinched, mock playing that he was dying of a heart attack, "Oh, my King, why, just WHY?!"

Adrien shook his head, "Oh no you don't, lady. No Haven warrior is left alone in this city. Lumini may not be as advanced as Haven, but we're not too shabby on fighting." he didn't like the way she looked at him and Nightmare. Perhaps her Key hadn't recieved Neo's Gift. But....that was almost impossible. Despite Neo being the King of Haven, Martel had allowed his constant gift to reach even Lumini. Don't you think you're being too hard on the girl? Nightmare questioned and Adrien scowled, speaking aloud as he was too frustrated to think if it would seem strange to her. "Of course not! If I wanted to be hard on her, I'd just kill her now. Stupid Keyblade...." Nightmare sent a jolt of electricity up Adrien's arm and growled, Call me stupid again, I dare you!

Martel smiled under her hood, "You're quite generous to allow me to stay here with you. Where might you be heading in the morning?" A simple enough question, but if it kept Martel off her feet and off the open roads, she was grateful if they were heading to Haven. Despite it being a frightening city, Martel knew that not all the wanderers were afraid of the ever Twilight skies that surrounded it.

 

She looked at him as he answered a statement that she couldn't hear.

"Um... okay...? I'm just gonna go inside now... follow me since you want to."

She was still uneasy over the feeling she was getting from his Keyblade. She had seen him wince in pain almost as if his Key was hurting him... She stopped and asked him a question.

"Um, not to be rude or anything, but... who do you talk to...? I mean it'll be dead silent and you'll talk to thin air. Is there someone you're speaking to directly or do you just talk to yourself...?"

 

Lynn tilted her head when Ash looked back at her.

Did I do something wrong?

She then listened to what else they had to say, almost entirely confused about all of it. But she figured that she'd see for herself soon enough as the castle grew nearer and nearer. So she kept all questions to herself.

"Lumini." Faya sharply answered for Juno. She was spiking some meat on skewers for the dinner tonight. She did so without moving her own arms, the meat and vegetables she carefully divided on each stick seemed to do it on it's own.
"That's Faya, she's a bit moody after what those Haven medical scientists did to her. Forgive her rudeness."

 

Adrien's eyes widened and he stared dumbly at her. Idiot, say something!! Swallowing he nodded slowly, "Well yeah...I'm talking to my Keyblade. Don't you ever hear your Keyblade talk? Sure they don't talk to others and I'm not even sure if I like mine talking to me...and it's a gift from the Twilight King and all but...from what I learned in school, every Keyblade has a voice. Even if it doesn't speak right away....they all do." he gave his Keyblade a mournful look, remembering how his brother had described his own Keyblade's cry of agony as it broke in half during the first battle for freedom. His brother had died shortly after Adrien got his own Keyblade.

Ash and Neo led Lynn to the castle gates, which opened easily at Neo's touch and swung open to reveal a glamourously lit inside, complete with red velvet rugs and gold statues of a beautiful woman and a fierce looking man. Neo led them toward a black curtain. Sweeping it aside with his arm he motioned for Ash to head up, "This is the entrance to the Prayer Room. You'll have to forgive my inhospitality, but I sense a commotion up here and I wish to know what has stirred my praying women." He looked slightly peeved that there was any movement up the dark stairwell at all. Ash offered Lynn a small smile and led the way up each black marble step.

Martel's head jerked upright. She hadn't expected such a harsh answer. Sighing in defeat, she lowered her head to her lap again, "Oh....that's no good at all. I'm heading to Haven...there's...a bit of buisness I must conduct there before I return to my home in Lumini." Martel didn't pay much attention to Faya's lack of using her arms, her mind was busy with how long it would take to get to Haven on foot.

 

"Lucky for you we never go straight towards a Destination. Wouldn't make enough profit. We hop around locations for our show, so we'll end up close to Haven at some point. We'll drop you off there." Juno recalculated her route, wishing to please her guest like any good host.
Faya finally started to jab the shishkabob into the ground, angled to the fire as to not completely burn it. She then sat by Juno, quietly staring at her limp arms. She sighed quietly, looking at their guest. "You look like someone well known."

 

Lynn looked around the marvelous room, wondering just what was everything here. It was all just a bit overwhelming to be honest, and she felt lost in this world even more so now. Which is why she kept close to the two as the approached a black curtain.

"I believe it is understandable."

She replied when she was spoken to. She then followed them up the stairs, looking down as she walked. The black marble steps were amazing as well. As if every little thing in here was taken care of with great detail.

 

"Well... I didn't know that at all. I mean, No Name has helped me out in tough situations but I never knew Keyblades could talk to their wielders."
Cat looked at her Key and thought about what it would say to her... would it praise her or would it wish it never knew her?
"Um... Adrien, right? Do you think... well... can you try to help No Name speak to me...?"
She was scared of what would happen but since she knew of this she decided there was no turning back. Somehow it felt right to try and figure this out.
Um... No Name... I don't know if you can her me but... if you can then please wait a bit longer... somehow, i'm gonna figure this out. Then we can talk about everything...
