Chapter 5- (insert cool title here)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Kairi ran towards the limp form of Sora lying on the ground. She dropped to her knees beside him. What she saw was a painful sight to behold.

Sora was unconcious, his face and arms covered in slashes and bruises. His arm and leg were both bleeding severely. His breathing was shallow and ragged. Kairi gasped and felt hot tears running down her cheeks.

The rest of the group ran over when they heard her sobs, and they too gasped at the sight of Soras mangled body. Riku came to kneel beside Kairi and said "Come on, Kairi. We gotta get him out of here." as he picked up Sora gingerly, one hand under his knees, the other supporting his back.

Kairi seemed unable to support herself she was crying so hard. Roxas and Rinn came over and helped set her on her feet.

"Namine, please, open a portal." Kairi asked shakily. "We need to get him home."

Namine shook her head sadly. "I'm sorry, I can't."

"Why not?" Kairi demanded.

"The darkness from the portal might seep into Soras wounds and make his condition worse." she explained. "I don't wanna take that risk. I'm sorry, but I just don't think a portal is our best option right now."

Kairi clenched her fists, trying not to get angry at her Nobody. Here was Sora, half dead and bleeding, and her Nobody was telling her they couldn't use the portal? A tiny voice in the back of her head told her that it wasn't Namine's fault. That voice of reason was the only thing keeping Kairi from attacking something. She was pondering what to do next when Riku's voice interupted her thoughts and brought her back to reality.

"I think we should get him to a safer place. I don't like the looks of this castle." Riku shivered at the haunting memorys it brought back.

She nodded, thinking it was probably best to get out of this dank and depressing place.

As they walked back up through the castles bowels, Kairi avoided looking at Namine. She was still a bit upset. Unfortunataly for Kairi, Namine seemed to read her thoughts.

"I did what I thought was best, you know." she said quietly, so the others couldn't hear. "I know." Kairi responded. "Its just... I don't know..."

"You're worried." Namine said simply. "I would be too."

Kairi smiled.

"Thanks for that."

They all climbed aboard a gummi ship (courtesy of Leon), and took off for home. Riku laid Sora down on a small bed in the back room. Kairi and Namine cleaned and bandaged his wounds, but there was nothing they could do about his clothes, which were torn and stained with blood.

"We should let him rest." said Namine. Everyone except Kairi agreed and got up to leave. But Kairi shook her head and stated "I'm going to stay here." Rinn nodded in understanding and hearded the others out of the room. She knew what it was like to be worried about the one you love.

Kairi pulled up a chair next to Sora's bed and prepaired herself for a long wait.

Spelling and grammer seem fine to me! Great chapter! Lucky you, getting rid of your writers block! I should stop putting exclamtion points at the end of every sentance! ARGH! It's there again!

A few hours later, Kairi was dozing in her chair, exausted from the days events. She fought to keep herself awake in case Sora awoke and needed her for something. But her exaustion overwhelmed her and she slid to the floor, the blackness overtaking her.

Kairi was back on Destiny Islands. She found herself sitting on the white sand, gazing out at the ocean. 'Such a pretty sight', she thought.

She heard a crunching noise behind her, and turned to see Sora walking toward her, smiling and cheerful. They both grinned and waved.

She got up to go to him, not seeing the shadow hiding in the sand until it was too late. It rose up, taking the form of Marluxia, and grabbed an unsuspecting Sora from behind. He gave a small yell, but was silenced when Marluxia slashed him in the chest with his scithe.

Kairi was paralized with fear. She tried to move, but found that her feet were glued to the ground. She could only watch as the Graceful Assassin tore Sora to shreds.

Sora, barely conscious, tried to stand, but failed miserably and fell back onto the sand as Marluxia landed a killing blow.

"NOOOOOOOOO!" screeched Kairi as her whole world fell apart inside her mind. And then she awoke.

She sat up quickly, breathing heavily, the adrenalin from her dream still coursing through her. She glanced around the room and, finding nothing out of the ordinary, climbed back into her chair.

Sora's condition hadn't changed. Kairi wondered how long she had been asleep. She brushed a stray piece of hair off his face and felt his forhead. 'Still burning up...' she thought.

She heard the door open behind her and turned to see who it was. "Riku?"

"I heard you scream. Is everything okay?"

"Yea... Just a dream." she smiled.

He moved fully into the room and shut the door behind him. He pulled up a chair to sit beside her, staring sadly at Sora's unchanged face.

They sat in silence for the longest time before Riku spoke up. "I hope he'll be okay..."

"Of course he will! He's Sora! He has to wake up..." Kairi said a little louder than she had intended.

"You don't sound so sure." he said without looking at her.

"Wha- I don't... I..."

"See? You're stuttering."

She sighed. "You're right, Riku. I'm not sure. I want so bad for him to wake up, but I don't know if he will. I'm so worried. I think... it might be because... I... I..."

"You love him." finished Riku.

She contemplated this for a moment. Did she love Sora? Yes, she decided. But since when? She couldn't remember when she had started to like the spikey-haired boy. Perhaps when he had given up his heart for her? Mabey thats why she had given him her charm?

"I know how you feel." Riku said, interupting her thoughts. "I... also have someone special to me."

"Is is Rinn?" she blurted out without thinking.

He looked shocked for a moment that she had guessed so quickly. "Is it that obvious?"

They sat quietly for a moment, each lost in their own thoughts.

"Do you love her?" Kairi asked quietly.

"Yes, I suppose I do love her." he said after a moment of thought. "She is someone I hold very dear to my heart. And she's one of the ones who saved me from the darkness in my heart." He smiled. "I suppose I love her because she is my light."

Kairi smiled. She thought of the similar relationship between her and Sora.

"I'll keep your secret for you." she said. "I think it would be best if you told her yourself."

He smiled again, finally turning to face her. "Thanks."

Hours later, after Riku had gone back to bed, Kairi was close to dozing off again when she heard a knock on the door. "Can I come in?" came the muffled voice of Rinn.

"Uh-huh." Kairi mummbled sleepily.

Rinn came into the room and walked over to the bed. "Any changes?"

"No." Kairi said, a little more awake. "None whatsoever."

"Oh. I see." said Rinn. "You should get some rest. I'll take over."

"No thanks." said Kairi. She picked up Sora's bandaged hand and squeezed it gently.

Rinn nodded understandingly. " Alright. If your sure..." She began to walk back to the door.

She was about the open the door when Kairi suddenly shouted her name. She was back beside the bed in a flash. She smiled.

Sora was finally awake.
