Chapter 16: Confrontation​

Hours melted into days, days turned into weeks and there was no sign of Sora or anyone in the World That Never Was.

After a couple days of waiting in his room, and staring out the window, Riku realized that he should do something while he was here. Soon, a daily plan came into effect.

Every morning, Riku would wake up, after another restless night and eat breakfast. He even had his own storage of food in his room, seeing as he really didn't want to go downstairs. Then, he would sneak out of the castle, making sure no one was following him and practise his abilites. Soon, he was able to control his emotions better and he was also able to sense who was near him, within a distance.

After his training, Axel might come down to see him and they'd go for a short walk. When they first started doing this, Riku kept pestering Axel with questions until Axel threatened to light him on fire. After that, they started to get to know each other better. Riku learned aobut Axel's life in the Organization, what he does in his spare time and stuff like that while Axel learned about Riku's life on Destiny Island.

A little after mid-day, Riku would walk around the city, discovering new alleyways and paths every day. That usually took a lot of time. He'd walk back up to the castle and then someone from the Organization would tutor him on something or other. Most of the time it was Axel who did it, since no one else wanted to, but other times, Lexeaus would come and he'd be forced to fight him, to practise his battling skills. Other times, Zexion would come and Riku would have to find his way out of a pitch black maze without using any abilites. It was boring work but it killed time.

After around, a week and a half, Xemnas allowed Riku to teleport once again, using Corridors of Darkness. His first idea was to leave but something held him there. As the third week of being in the world came to a close Riku strated to wonder if Sora would ever come.

But again, parts of him didn't want Sora to come at all and every night, Riku had nightmares of them battling, of Sora calling him a traitor...of Sora and Kairi kissing.

Then finally, hope struck. Riku bolted awake. A great precense had entered his senses. He ran to his window and looked out to see three pilars of light strike the ground at the back alley. It had to be Sora, Kairi and the King.

Yet he was bound by Xemnas to rush up to his room and report the news. Riku bursted open the door to see Xemnas standing with all the other Orgnization members. they all turned to him and Xemnas nodded.

"Right on time," Xemnas said with a slight smile. "As you are undouptly aware, the keyblade master has appeared in our world."

"I'll handly it, Superior," Saix said, stepping forward.

Riku cut across him. "No. I'll go," he said, eyes blazing.

Saix rounded on him. "And do what? Your power cannot match his."

"As I recall, you lost to him last time you faced him. What makes you think this time will be any different?" Riku snapped back.

Xemnas cut off the conversation. "Enough. Riku, you have full permission to go. In the event that you fail, Saix will go next."

Riku nodded and disappeared without another word.

Saix turned to his leader. "You actually trust him to take care of Sora? Sora could easily manipulate him back to the realm of light."

Xemnas smiled. "Riku will never go back to the light."

Sora wlaked up to the castle, the King and Kairi trailing behind him. They had finally made it. after battling through worlds and helping people, they had found a way to get to the twilight world.

They walked up and across the bridge that connected to the castle. Sora looked up. The castle semed bigger than what he remembered.

"Sora?" A familiar voice came from behind them and Sora whipped around. There stood Riku but he seemed to have gotten stronger. He had an aura around of power.

"Riku! You're okay!" Sora shouted, excited and he and Kairi ran up to him.

Riku looked at the ground. "Sora, don't," he said and black flames surrounded them into a lrage circle.

Sora halted and looked around. "Riku...no. Not you. Not like this," he said, sadly. Kairi looked on the verge of tears.

Riku sighed. "Sora, I'm sorry. I didn't mean for it to go this far. I couldn't do anything to stop myself."

"Yes, you could have," Sora said almost angerly. "You had a choice. You chose to give into Xemnas. You chose to stay here. You chose to give into the darkness."

Riku looked up at him. "You don't get it at all. I'm not like you. You can make mistakes and everything works out perfectly fine. When I make a mistake, my life turns upside down. You think I want to be here, shouldering the darkness?" Riku's anger started to rise and so did the flames around them.

Sora took a step back and Riku stopped. "Sora, you have to leave. If you don't, I'll kill you," he said and opened a portal for Sora and the others to go through.

Sora shook his head. "No. I promised that I would come and take you home, which is exactly what I'm doing. I don't care who tries to stop me."

Riku sighed again. "If you don't care than..." a pause came and faster than blinking, Riku had nailed Sora hard in the chest and sent him flying to the ground. "Than I'm going to stop you."

Sora coughed and looked up. "Why?" he asked weakly.

A Corridor to Darkness appeared behind Riku and Xemnas stepped through. "Because your friend belongs to me now, keybearer," he said coldly.

Sora's eyes widenned. "No. I'm not giving up. Not yet," he said standing up and pulling out his keyblade.

Xemnas shook his head. "Pitiful. It's too bad you didn't stay home, Sora. You could have saved yourself from destruction," he said and disappeared. "You kids have fun and Riku," he gave a little pause. "Don't hold back anything."

Riku's eyes flashed dangerously and Sora backed up in fear. Sora started to move but Riku was already on top of him. He swung his leg down, tripping Sora and hit him hard in the chest, sending him high in the air.

Kairi gave a loud gasp. "Riku don't!" she shouted, crying.

Riku sent a burst of flame into the air which brought Sora down to the ground, slamming him on his back. "Stay out of this," he snapped and held the keyblade to Sora's throat.

Sora gasped for air. He couldn't believe what was happenning. Riku was so strong and fast. How was he supposed to win?

Riku smiled in victory but a bright flash of light blinded him for a few seconds and a keyblade came across him, sedning him back a few feet. It was King Mickey.

The King reached a hand down and helped Sora to his feet. "Sora, I know you and Riku are best friends but you have to fight him. We have to break Xemnas' hold on him and this might be the only way."

Sora nodded, unable to speak and raised his keyblade. Beside him, Mickey raised his own. Riku stood up and swung his keyblade in front of him. "Finally caught on?" he said with a smile.

Sora gapped. "Riku, you are-" he started but Riku cut him off.

"Sora, you really have to shut up. Do you honestly think I'd let Xemans use me that much?" Riku said, raising an eyebrow.

Sora smiled. That was Riku alright. "So you're faking it?" he asked.

Riku looked at the ground. "No Sora. All my frustration at you, my jealously that you could have love but I couldn't, my hate that you have never suffered as I have, is coming out of my keyblade," he said and the flames danced around them, enraged by Riku's emotions.

Sora was aabout to say something but he couldn't. Riku really did hate him. Never before had Sora thought about how Riku was feeling during all this and now that he had, he felt awful. "Riku, I had no idea. I'm sorry," he said and really meant it.

Riku smiled. "I know but unfortuanately Xemnas has ordered me to kill you," he said with wink. Sora caught on and nodded. Riku raised his keyblade. "Let's see how much you've learned while I've been here."

Riku charged at them with inhuman speed. Sora threw up his keyblade just in time to block it. The two met with a clash and Riku's mind went blank as he was taught. Your mind should be focused on the fight, Axel had instruction. Nothing else matters but victory.

Sora tried to slash his keyblade at Riku but he was too quick and dodged it with ease. Riku took a step back and readied himself. He caught a flash of light in the corner of his eyes and whipped around, stopping the King in mid-air. "Not twice," he said with a smile and swung his keyblade, combining it with dark energy. The blast sent Mickey flying and unconscious a few feet away from Sora.

Sora looked down, unable to believe that Riku had that much power. But then again, it was a fake fight.

Sora charged at him, and slahed downwards. At the same time, Riku brought his keyblade up and the two met with a clang of sparks. Riku swung downwards but Sora jumped over it and rolled out of the way. Riku whipped around and black flames rose out of the ground at his will, hitting Sora hard and sending him into the air.

He landed o nthe ground with a thud and appeared to be out. A cold laugh sounded somewhere and Xemnas appeared, ocne again. "Excellent Riku. I knew you wouldn't fail me," he said and walked over to Sora's lifeless form.

"Sora!" Riku shouted and threw his keyblade into the air. Sora's eyes snapped open and he jumped into the air, bringing down both his and Riku's keyblades to Xemnas.

The Nobody hit the ground and Riku grabbed his keyblade from Sora. He walked to Xemnas and held his keyblade up. "You don't control me anymore," he said angerly and brought the keyblade down.

Riku pulled it out and Xemnas' body faded away into nothingness. Sora sighed in exhaustion. "I'm glad that's over," he said, leaning on his keyblade.

Riku smiled. The bonds had lfited and he felt more free than he had in three years. "Yeah. It is. Hey, Sora? Sorry I hit you so hard. Xemnas wouldn't have shown himself if he wasn't sure you were gone."

Sroa shrugged. "No problem. I can take it. Anyway, let's go home!" he said excited.

Riku turned away form them as the flames around them died out. "No Sora. I'm not going back."

Sora walked up behind him. "Yes you are. Look Riku-" he started.

Riku cut him off. "No. I've thought about what I would do if I faced this choice and I've decided not to. What would I do there? I need adventure, exploration, battles. You and Kairi just need to be together," he said turning around and smiling. "You guys don't mind our home. But to me, it's a prison. Sorry Sora, but I've made up my mind. I'll come visit you guys though and you can come see me. Wherever I'll be," he added.

Sora was about to object but he knew that Riku would not change his mind. "Alright then. But you had better write to us and everything."

Kairi came up from behind them. "Yes! And you ahd better visit Riku! Or else," she said, pointing a finger at him.

Riku backed up. "Alright! I get it!" he said and the three laughed. Mickey also smiled. Riku put up a hand and two Corridors appeared. "Your magesty, that one will take you to Disney Castle. Sora, Kairi, that one will take you home," he said pointing to the left one.

The King nodded. "You be careful, alright?" Mickey said. Riku nodded. "Bye fellas," he added and stepped into the dark portal.

Sora and Kairi gave Riku one last hug. "Bye Riku," they both said and stepped inside the other one. A second later, they were gone.

Riku,

It's been three weeks since we last saw you. Things are starting to get back to normal although I'm not sure what normal is after all we've seen. Felix is back home and safe and your mom is really worried. I told her that you're fine but I don't think she's convinced. I'll get her happy though! Anyway, how are things with freedom? Probably better than what's going on here. All I've done is go to school. Yipee.

We're all missing you,
Sora

Riku smiled as he read the letter. That was Sora. He looked up, brushing his silver and black hair out of his face. The wind rushed around him. He jumped down form the pillar where he was reading it and started to walk. A cry sounded somewhere and heartless started to appear.

It was time to back back to business.

Whoa the whole storyline at first seemed to be crazy and out of place but as it went on everything worked out very well. I liked it. I thought it was a bit much to bring back the Organization again but it wasn't really about any of that it was Riku's internal struggle. I usually don't like Riku centered stories 'cause he's a sad character but this was done fairly well. I read it all in one shot just like the first one so I'll only comment once. Stay sharp. Thanks so much guys! Yeah, when I read it through, I thought it was going to be much with the Organization being back and all but anyway, a more needed question: how am I going to start the sequel, story of light?

I had a couple ideas: 1. Riku runs into Sora somewhere and together deafeat the heartless once and for all.

2. Riku ends up on some other world and can't get back home. (I was thinking of the world being Spira form Final Fantasy X.)

3. Riku visits home to find that Sora and Kairi are getting married.

4. A combonation of the three. I have ideas in my head already for each of them so it depends on what you guys want.

 

Combo of One and Three I don't really like FFX no offense to those who do it's just very stilted as far as story and gameplay is a turn based nightmare(I hate turn based except FF7 don't know why) Oh well I digress the second is a bit much and I know my story fails right there I just don't want the same fate to befall yours. If you want evidence of this you can read mine just don't say I didn't warn you. You know stay sharp keep it up and don't get maimed while I'm gone.

 

Marriage?!? =O
Would this story take place years later...? I mean they're only like 15.
One sounds sweet, but how do you defeat something that lies in eveyone heart

Well, I've decided on option number 2 and I have picked Spira. The new story is up if you want to read it. I will be adding the other two somehow and right now (at least in my story) Sora and Kairi are 17 while Riku is 18. Just a little fact there.

Also, I'm surprisingly getting pm's about my story! Incredible! Here are some questions people have asked me:

1. "Where'd you get the name Felix?"
Felix is not a name I made up. It's a name of one of the people I rp with on a site.

2. Do you hate Sora and Kairi?
No I do not hate Sora or Kairi. I just never see enough Riku stories out there. Plus I find Riku much more interesting then happy-go-lucky Sora. LOL.

3. "Have you played all Kingdmo Hearts games?"
Yes I have completed all the games but KH: FM+ since they don't have it in english. (Why would someone bother asking me that)

4. "How do you come up with this stuff?"
Well this is really odd but when I'm trying to fall asleep or I'm really bored in class, I sit there and think of what to add to my story and play it out in my head.

5. "I'm trying to write a story. Any hints?"
A tip for writters who are nervous about posting there stuff: Be creative. Don't worry if someone doesn't like your story and don't worry if you don't like your own story. Also, go all out with it. A classic sport saying: Go big or go home. In this case: Go big or don't go at all.

6. "Is this how you picture Kingdom Hearts 3 to be like? "
NO! I seriously doupt it. If it happenned like this, I would be in the greatest shock ever.

7. "Do you like Kingdom Hearts or Harry Potter?"
Like most people, I love Kingdom Hearts but I have to say that Harry Potter is still the best. Sorry all.

8. "Why does Riku give into the darkness again? That's really mean!"
I always thought Riku wasn't free of Ansem's shadow. I knew he would shoulder the darkness but in this story, I took it to the extreme.

9. "Who's your favorite character?"
I'm not even answering that one...

10. "Are you going to keep writting this story?"
As long as there are readers wanting me to. I was actually going to end it with one more installment but now I think I might keep writting until Sora and Kairi have kids. (That should be intersting...)

Anyway, I feel like a profesional writter now. Wow, I feel special.
