"Alrighty then." Steel responded rather readily and began to walk with her. He didn't have much in the way of anything to say, but he did wonder if they really needed a boat.

"Hey, our gliders still work, even if the lanes won't open right? Couldn't we just use those instead of asking about boats?" He shrugged. "Just a thought I had."

Glad that everyone was on board with the idea of getting ice cream, Stratos walked alongside everyone else as they had found a stand to get something from. As they made their way towards the stand, Steel had asked a question, prompting Stratos to think on it a bit. "And it'd probably be less awkward then trying to secure a boat from someone else here. It's not like we can just borrow one, since well...I don't know if we'd really be good at giving them back."

"I hadn't even thought of that bit." Steel winced in realization. "Yeah with the way bad luck follows us, or at least No Heart and his goons do, a boat probably won't last all that long." They really didn't need to be in debt to someone on a random world it might be hard to get back to later.

"Well if you fly out on the keyglider, you risk the chance of leaving without the lanes open. It's not exactly easy to explain but... it's easier to travel from the ocean and end up in another world.. than it would be to be on the keyglider and fly through the sky to get to another world. I know that probably makes no sense..." she paused the conversation when she got to the stand and asked for cake batter ice cream on a cone. When she had it she walked a bit away and said to the others, "We could buy one... or... uh. What's the word... commandeer one?"

Stratos nodded as Steel added to his thoughts on the matter as well. Looking to Kaida he said, "well, what if we just hovered over the surface of the water? Unless being on a keyglider automatically runs that risk?" Stratos scratched his head, not sure what to make of it before saying, "well, I suppose yeah, we could look to find a boat to own. I'm not really sure if we can find one just lying around for the taking, but, you never know."

"Hmmm..." Steel cupped his chin as he pondered. "What if we actually set the keygliders on the water like they were boats? Or is there maybe an alternate form for that?" Really, the keygliders were magical anyway, so just setting them down in water should realistically have no difference on their function. Though shape might be an issue for some...

Kaida kind of stared off for a minute trying to figure out whether or not these plans could actually work, but after a bit her mind just kind of cancelled out everything and she ended up ignoring the conversation and said, "Man, cake batter ice cream is just one of my favorite flavors. Have you ever had cake batter ice cream?" her brain flatlined on the fact Stratos didn't even seem to have ice cream before this world or anything.

Seeing as his controlled and focused bursts of thundaga weren’t doing much if any damage to the blob shaped creature Faust had only one idea. If controlled lightning strikes weren’t going to damage it then He was going to have to let it run wild. Just before he started to prepare his attack he called out “hey, might want to take a step back because my next trick is going be more than a little shocking!” Summoning his keyblade into his left hand he let his magic run wild only giving it a general direction of the creature. The lightning arcing from his keyblade in chaotic streams dancing along the walls of the ice palace. As the last arc began to dissipate it struck the large hanging crystalline structure that was acting as a pseudo chandelier in the center of the room. As it made contact the electrical charged shattered the ice holding it to the ceiling sending over a couple hundred pounds of ice shards into the general area of the ink like creature.

 

It seemed that at the end of the day, they needed to look for some kind of transportation outside of their keygliders to get across the sea. Looking to Steel he said, "I guess we're better off just going with the boat, since we know it works." As Kaida asked if he had had cake batter ice cream before, the boy gave her a small dumbfounded look, before just chuckling to himself saying, "no. I've had cakes before, and those were pretty good. So, I imagine Cake batter is probably good too?" He looked to the others saying, "do any of you have a recommendation on ice cream flavor?"

Well, Kaida had said she wasn't the best on the subjects. It seemed they had asked too many questions too fast and overloaded her. Unfortunate. However, his only real response was to shrug ti Stratos as they both accepted what was apparently the inevitable. He had never had cake batter ice cream. It sounded relatively novel and it might be nice to try it some day. However, for now...

"I've always been fond of most things with chocolate myself. Rocky Road, Mint Chocolate Chip, Fudge Brownie... there are other good things without it of course. Vanilla is quite delightful, as is Cookie Dough."

"Hmm, well there's very few flavors I personally don't like. But... I don't know what your preferences are on stuff, but strawberry flavor is pretty good. You can get a chocolate and vanilla swirl. Or you could get vanilla ice cream and try out different toppings. I highly recommend hot fudge." Kaida looked like she could talk about this particular topic for a while, "Don't get any of the super unique flavors with toppings I think it kind of ruins it. Like putting chocolate sprinkles all over chocolate chip cookie dough... like... what's the point of having cookie dough at that point...?"

 

Steel nodded along with Kaida as she spoke of her own thoughts on ice cream. "Agreed. I've never been all that fond of sprinkles in the first place to be honest. Though there are some other interesting toppings. I've seen some people use gummy bears. Those might be good with chocolate chip or cookie dough."

Ananta halfway listened to the conversation, but stopped listening when they mentioned just setting their gliders on the water and sailing away. Of all the gliders there, her own was probably the only one that could work on the water. Everyone was lost in ice cream land when Ananta spoke up. "Um, guys...my glider can probably sail on the water for real compared to...any of yours." she pointed out. "Mine has a sail on it, ya know?" She pointed out. The topic of ice cream flavors came to mind and Ananta looked at the trio next to her. "I hear there's sea salt ice cream. It's supposed to taste really good." she suggested.

"Noted." Steel responded in kind to Ananta at both the mention of her glider and the Sea Salt Ice cream. He was actually fairly certain he had heard of and tried it before now that she mentioned it, but he couldn't really remember. It could be his mind just confabulating. "Well, with all that said I'm getting hungry. I'll just go order my own now." He headed towards the stall to get himself some rocky road, turning back to his more serious thoughts as he ordered. It occurred to him that if he forgot what he had learned in the Castle of Illusion so easily, he might need to take the time to go over the scenario in his head again and think about it more.

Ananta stepped towards the ice cream shop and ordered the previously mentioned ice cream. She took one good lick of it and made a face at the saltiness of it. The sweet came out just seconds later and she was intrigued by the odd combination. She licked it some more and turned to the others. "Hey, this is actually really good? You guys should try it! Hard to explain, but it's a weird mixture of salty and sweet that just...works." she said, going back to licking hers.

Spoiler: Conqueror's Respite (1/?)

As the light around him faded, Steel found himself back at Fort St. Carn. He was now on the beach, and the gate he had once tried so hard to force open now stood behind him. However, it now looked like a still image on a monitor. It cracked and sparked dangerously in such a manner that Steel supposed that there was likely no turning back that way. Closer to the shore, three figures stood. Two of them he easily recognized as Winter and Gale, standing over a third figure who was in... a lab coat?


Curious, Steel began to approach.

As soon as the weird ink-mouse made that growl sound to her, Ignis got goosebumps all around her body. Most of the time she didn't care if someone tried to get her attention in whatever form, but coming from a weird ink-mouse hybrid that didn't even sound normal, and its personality, Ignis just couldn't help but want to squash it like a bug. The only issue was that after her last attack did nothing, and magic didn't seem to do much better, she was at a loss as to how to deal with this creep. She called her keyblade back from the ink-mouse, and wondered if they weren't out of their league. The annoying thing was that this seemed a lot like what they dealt with back in The Wasteland, but those things were easy to deal with, this guy almost seemed like he didn't have a real shape for them to hit; then the idea hit her, just as the castle's chandelier was about to hit him.
Turning her head to Elsa, she began to wonder. "Hey, do you think you could freeze a specific area? Maybe like where that creep is standing? If he could become a giant chunk of ice, maybe we could do something."

 

Steel thoroughly enjoyed his Ice cream as he continued to recall the end of his journey through the Castle of Illusion.

Spoiler: Conqueror's Respite 2/?

In the black and rainy night, Steel approached the group of three on the beach. Gale and Winter were standing over someone in a lab coat, who on further inspection seemed to be Professor Griffon. He was kneeling down on the ground... crying? Maybe he was mistake- no that was definitely Griffon and he was definitely crying... or were they crying? Kneeling down to the wailing scientist, Steel cautiously drew attention to himself.


"Hey, uh... Leo? Alice? You okay there guys?" Their head shot up with a jolt as a shocked look took form on their face.


"Sors!" A higher sounding voice shouted with glee as the red head pulled him into a bone crushing hug and started sobbing even more fervently than before. "You're here! I thought we'd never see you again!"


"Whoa! Alice!" So his suspicions had been correct. The Aquila 'siblings' were currently sharing the same body. Truth be told, it was their natural state. However, due to several variables that allowed for other options, it was something that they very rarely actually did.


There was definitely something very strange going on here, but this was perfect. Griffon, or rather this illusory version of Griffon, would surely be able to tell him what was really going on back at his home world. If anyone would know, it would be them.


However, he'd first need to calm down Alice, who was still sobbing quite hysterically into his hoodie, as well as shoving her tear ridden face into the decorative chains now fastened around him. That could not have been comfortable. Gale and Winter did nothing to placate her for their part, seemingly content to merely look on in concern for now.


"Guys, guys, guys! Griffon, calm down, please!" His words fell on seemingly deaf ears. To be honest, Steel was more than a little curious as to why exactly they were so upset. Sure, Alice had mentioned the possibility of never seeing him again, but that wasn't enough to make her this upset. Leonidas wasn't even doing anything to exert dominance over the body either, which meant he was likely to be equally wracked with grief, though he was considerably less expressive of it. Grabbing the red headed body by the shoulders, Steel gently pried their face away from his torso to look into their eyes.


"Griffon, I can tell something is wrong..." As if that wasn't the understatement of the year. "...but I need Alice to calm down a little, and let Leo explain the situation to me: I can't fix anything if I don't know what's happening." The look on Griffon's face slowly became subdued, though it was still tear stained, and the eyes still held an indescribable sadness.


"Of course." The calmer, more centered voice of Leonidas Aquila began to come from the host mouth. "Though I'm not even sure where to start."


"How about at the beginning?" Steel suggested, to which Leo responded with a small, somewhat forced chuckle.

Ananta was halfway done with her ice cream when she noticed Steel was lost in thought. Honestly, there was very little she knew about him, but she still knew that maybe he didn't want to talk about it. Then again, perhaps she could at least ask him about a couple of things, so long as she was careful where she tread. For the moment, though, she was content with her ice cream. She even considered perhaps purchasing another since this one was so delicious. "Memories... " she muttered, wondering about her own thoughts.

Perking up his ears at Ananta's muttering, he quickly noticed his own ice cream was gone.

He could really go for more though.

"Hmmm. Maybe I'll try of that sea salt flavor now..."
