Only moments after the princesses offered to give them a boat to leave Arendelle on a black melting blob of a creature appeared. Faust didn't know what to make of the thing at first, He had seen some weird creatures out there since he had started his travels but normally they did not seem as melted and dis-formed as what stood before them. As the sentient melting creature began to reveal his intent in that he had kidnapped Anna for his own nefarious plans. Looking over at creature and AJ as he gave his demands, Faust could only really sigh as he was really lost at what was going on. looking as this was going to be another fight Faust began to channel his mana waiting for a proper chance to strike. Seeing Ignis charge forward Faust trance another path of lighting in he mind before releasing a thundaga on the creature in time with her strike.

Kel had silently listened to what Aislinn had to get off of her chest. It was something that he'd never really considered up until now. He had just chosen to leave one day and that was that. By no means was it a comparable situation to what Aislinn was going through. "Well." His slow shifting of wight had come to a close and instead, he turned his attention up towards the stars to admire just how many were up above, shining brightly in the night's sky. "With us being so far away from our homes, hoping for the best is really all we're left with. If everything goes well then your home should be fine." If this could give her something positive to think about until that day came, then Kel could consider his advice to be a success. For now, he nodded at the notion of getting some sleep after looking away from the stars.

As Kaida had gone and made her proclamation about what they would do, Stratos simply stood there, with his expression still a bit defeated. However, after a moment, he shook it off. He knew she was right. That there wasn't much sense in trying to fight something like this, and even more so that the better respect was fighting for Hikaru. He didn't like it, and it was still difficult to accept, but this was their reality and he had to live with that. He had to focus on the thigns he could do. And so, with his expression changing to a smile, he said, "You're right, I promise too. To keep up the fight and help protect us. All of us."

It was at this moment that Stratos looked to the others, who had been talking about their way out of here which was then interrupted by an explosion happening in the water. "Well, that was something..." It looked like their plan to find a ride out of here was going to be a tad difficult.

When Mortimer had mocked him he just stood there unfazed. If this mouse thought that would get to him he was wrong. He lived the last 14 years or so with people that did things that were worse then mocking. He did not really think about who he was talking to. It was another hellfire member or just someone else that was after them. He watched as Mortimer had blocked the spell from Elsa. Well this was going to be interesting. Then Ignis brought out her keyblade out then threw it at the mouse. With another fight incoming more or less it was time to do something. He quickly cast Aeroga on the party before they got hurt. Sooner or later the battle would be in full swing.

Steel was as silent as ever as he listened to what the others all had to say. If he was being completely honest, this was all hitting pretty close to home for him. It hardly took critical thought for him to notice the rather glaring similarities between him and Hikaru. His body was a copy, and for all his soul might be real enough, even that was an echo. The original him was just a shade from another dimension, he was the only real tie that the creature had to this realm.
So what would happen if he disappeared? Would all traces of him outside of his home world slowly vanish like what was happening to Hikaru? Would any of them remember him?

What was there to remember exactly?

Steel stared out at the explosion as he considered Kaida's words, his back to the others. He honestly didn't know how his stony silence and wandering mind could have possibly helped her process anything. As much as he hated it, ever since he had come to earn him mark of mastery at the castle of illusion, little about him had changed. He may have abandoned the greater aspect of his arrogance, but losing that he had slipped into an entirely different sort of unfortunate habit that the original storm shade was so fond of; a shell. It was hardly intentional, but that didn't really change the fact that it was happening. Ananta had even once mentioned that he needed to approach others more, and yet the few times he had, nothing really had changed. He had gone just as unnoticed as before... Why was he even here? It may have seemed petty, but he knew that loneliness was as much of a darkness as any other form it took. It had caused him quite an unfortunate amount of problems back home. Was going through all that again something he really wanted? He raised his paw to get a glimpse of his own SoS ring. Having ceased celebrating birthdays long ago, it was perhaps the first real gift he had received in... well actually his status as a copy meant he had never even had a birthday, having been born only months ago. So this was pretty much the first gift he had personally received ever.

"Since the earliest I can recall you've stuck with this group even when you didn't have to."

Those were the words that had been said to him, as well as Kel and Luna. At the time, he felt that he was been rewarded and acknowledged for his loyalty. It was something that had actually made him incredibly happy at the time; he craved recognition a bit too much perhaps. Still, thinking back on it now, he wondered if perhaps he didn't really deserve it. Had he really been loyal this whole time, or had he just not felt like there was anywhere else to go? He had said himself during the exam that he didn't even know if he had any family in this realm anymore, but now he did know. Were his thoughts too busy with them now? In spite of what lay in front of him? In spite of the promise he still had to keep?

"Promises are important." He said aloud. It was to himself, as much as it was a response to Kaida.

Oh how easy it seemed to be to forget his own words and slip back into the familiar.

Kaida smile at that rate was less sad as she saw others jumping into the promise with her. Well, Ananta seemed to just acknowledge he'll always be there, and Aux messed with her hair and seemed to acknowledge that she wasn't alone. But Stratos directly acknowledged the promise, which made her glad someone acknowledged it. When she heard Steel's words, she looked over towards the wolf and said, "I know they're important. But I never make promises I can't keep or at least do to the best of my ability." she never was good at reading Steel, she didn't know him very well. So she had no idea if he had a lot going on in his head, and she didn't try to figure it out. She knew for a fact her mind was all over the place too if his was. She saw the others focusing on the ship, having gotten distracted by the exploding ship herself, due to how sudden it was, before she turned her attention back over to Steel and said, "I can't make anyone promise anything, especially if they don't feel it's worth it. I don't know how you feel about it, but if you do I hope it's because you want to and not because you feel like you had to cause everyone else did... well... Maybe everyone? I'm not entirely sure about Aux exactly but he probably did..."

Kaida looked over towards Stratos since he was still in the vicinity and said,
"I'd be surprised if Aux and I got cheesy at the same time. If that ever happens at least one of us has been replaced by a lookalike or something is horribly wrong."

"You're right of course. I didn't mean to imply you would make such a promise without proper thought due, I just..." Steel crossed his arms as he stared out at the ocean, a rather uncomfortable gleam in his eyes.

Yes, how easily he tended to forget. His eyes themselves were the proof. Without even realizing it, he had called out to the power of the eye, despite the fact he was no longer bound to it the same way his original was. He had subconsciously called out who knows how long ago and re-inflicted that curse upon his body and mind, but he didn't need to. He let the black miasma drain from his eye, returning his eyes to blue and his pupils to grey as he thought of his first major promise. Saving Clair... and the world too, he supposed. It was Clair that had stuck with him though, that had continued to motivate him as he had slowly gone insane. He had utterly lost his mind in his desperation to see her away from the conflict that would determine the fate of her and everyone else on his world and the results were probably best phrased as 'murderous.'

    Promises were important.

    Promises were dangerous.

Oh, he supposed it might not have been so bad if he hadn't had a good billion voices shouting in his head at the time, but...

"I suppose I just don't know what to say. It's not uncommon for me actually. I guess, a part of me just feels ticked off." Everywhere the group turned they just kept losing things, and most of the time it didn't feel like he was contributing anything but another sword arm, one of the weaker ones at that. But he knew his leaving wouldn't solve anything. Just because he wouldn't be around to see their troubles anymore didn't mean they would go away. It would only stand to serve as an unknown variable looming over whatever troubles he ran into back home. The rind on his finger stood as one of the last remaining symbols of someone who had been like him. Someone he had never really bothered to actually get to know. Someone who was now dead.

And here he was acting like an attention starved puppy.

So what if he was concerned about how the darkness of loneliness would affect him? That didn't change the fact that there were bigger problems at hand. He could take care of himself later. He gave a sad smile at the thought: For all he tried to think things through; it seemed he was rather doomed to act impulsively.

"I just... had another promise to keep. I almost forgot about it. I guess I needed to remind myself." He placed a paw up to his scarred eye, placing his ring against the fibrous tissue.

'Your heart will always remember the connections you've made.'

    "I'm not done yet."

Kaida would be lying to herself if she wasn't a little confused and curious over Steel's reaction. She didn't exactly feel comfortable prying, but she did watch as his eyes... seemed to leech out what she would have called a black smoke. She remembered how his eye glowed during the Trinity Limit, and perhaps this happened before and Kaida hadn't noticed. It seemed like something she would have noticed before, but then again she realized she hadn't exactly paid attention to Steel. He was always quiet, and despite his appearance seemed to slip away into the background easily, like some stealthy wolf assassin. It wasn't like the way he fought was much different, and the only reason he probably kept out of her attention as much as she did was because he didn't really demand it.

She could respect that to a degree, but Steel's reaction to this was... interesting to her? She couldn't quite figure out if that was the word she was looking for but it didn't matter since she wasn't exactly phrasing them out loud. She shrugged and said,
"You almost did, but you didn't, right? That matters more than you'd think, because it wasn't an empty promise if it came back to you." she didn't really know what else to say, thought she felt it odd to end on that, so she tried to think of something but only managed out, "You'll get it done soon, I'm sure. Maybe while you're here, I don't know... but you seem like the kind of guy who tries to get things done. Maaaaybe I'm wrong but I've personally never seen you flub something... except perhaps communication. But you seem more like a lone wol-"

Kaida stopped herself unsure if that was going to make him think it was an intentional pun or get offended or something. Maybe he heard that a dozen times where people did intentionally use it as a pun before she cleared her throat and said,
"Solitary gentleman type.... um... is your eye okay?"

Stratos looked over to Steel as he spoke up, and as both he and Kaida talked about promises the boy only watched. While Kaida seemed to reaffirm what it was she was talking about Steel seemed to be lost in his thoughts - or rather, lost in his past. The boy didn't feel comfortable prying into what it was Steel had promised and he wasn't even sure if he would entirely understand. All the same, as Kaida reassured the wolf man, causing the boy to crack a small smile at the unfortunate wording she nearly completed, he said, "she's right Steel. If nothing else, you're consistent and reliable. Whether it comes to combat or helping deal with some of the more emotional people of the group, or hell even just being around in general. I'm positive if you keep working at what you need to do, it'll get done. But uh, yeah, that eye thing is a bit...different."

Steel just awkwardly rubbed his neck; a response to the near pun, sudden praise, and curiosity about his eye all in one. He wasn't really sure how to respond to the question. It was quite a lengthy subject to discuss, and he wasn't sure he really wanted to at the moment. But then, they had only asked if it was okay, not for a detailed run-down of any sort.

"Oh, yeah, you know: eyes." He paused to make little finger guns. "Windows to the soul!" As well as whatever shards of eldritch ghost of time might lie within. "It likes to sort of show off every now and again but its normal really. I just... forgot to turn it off." For some time... which apparently no one noticed until now.

Stratos scratched his chin at the response, saying, "that is...certainly something." The idea of being able to turn his eye light "off" was certainly something else. He wasn't quite sure that he quite understood what it was Steel was saying, yet all the same he returned the finger guns saying, "but hey, I guess that means your soul is just positively glowing right now. But yeah, as long as you say you're alright." With that, the boy looked out to the sea, scratching his chin saying, "so you think we can take the same boat we took in?"

Kaida was slightly confused by how Steel responded but she didn't know, maybe he always flipped on a dime like that. She kind of looked towards his eyes a little longer, curiously since it seemed like such an oddly specific trait but what did she know, she used to get sunburns in seconds. Kaida shrugged and said, "Seems interesting, is that some sort of like... adaptable trait?" When Stratos mentioned the boat they came in, she looked towards him and said, "I mean, that'd be pretty difficult. The boat we came in just kind of disappeared once we set foot on land."

The boy scratched his chin at Kaida's comment, thinking back to when they first landed on the shore. "Oh yeah, I suppose I haven't actually seen it since. That's..." the boy thought about it for a bit longer before saying, "man what kind of magic boats were those anyway? Well, that doesn't really matter anyway. I guess we could look for some other kind of boat on the island, since I can't imagine a place right on the water doesn't have boats. Now, we can't really just take what we find but well, I guess it's more productive then," the boy looked to the smoking remnants of the ship in the water. "That."

"Maybe we should ask someone on the island if there are any boats? Or ask Jumba if there is a way we could get our hands on another ship instead? I mean, they did promise us a ship, and they didn't specifically say we would be getting that ship." Kaida wanted to point this out so they didn't go on a wild goose chase over nothing, she looked confused and admitted, "I also have no idea what we would do with just a boat. How does that kind of transportation even work? I just chalked that last one up to a one time enchantment type deal. I could be wrong but... ugh I just.... I wanna make sure the others are alright at this rate. And I have no idea where we would even go anyway..."

"I'll be honest, I'm not really sure how the whole boat thing works myself. I just figured it was worth a shot. But yeah, I'm worried about the others too," the boy admitted to Kaida. "I'm sure they're fine but well, I have no idea where they are and no idea how to search for them." Looking a bit thoughtful for a moment the boy then said, "I guess we could go to the land of departure. I don't think anything happened there, yet at least. And everyone was there when I first joined the SOS, so it might be good to check out."

"The land of departure?" Kaida had absolutely no idea what he was talking about for a minute before she placed her fingers under her chin to think and tapped at her chin a bit while she made tiny popping noises with her mouth as she tried to think before asking, "Is that like... castle oblivion or something? Um..." she paused for a moment before shaking her head and said, "Timeline stuff probably. Anyway, uh, I have no idea where or what that is. But if it was the original or one of the meet up places... maybe it wouldn't be a bad place to go? Unless the place was already compromised?" she didn't know the answer to that question though but she shrugged and said, "Maybe we're just gonna have to hope for a little luck and accidentally run into everyone. Though I remember the last time something like that happened we were following a beacon in the realm of darkness.... and I had the greatest concussion ever." she unintentionally looked straight at Aux with a slight look of indignation.

While Kaida had seemed confused by the place he was referring to, he too was confused by the term she used to refer to it. All the same, he continued, "well, I've only been there once myself, but it seemed fine when I was there. After that, I went to Central Haven and well, you know the rest from there." The boy followed her eyes onto Aux as she made her comment about a concussion, looking back to her saying, "yeah, the last split was...far from pleasant for me too. But, even without a beacon to guide us, wandering aimlessly until something happens is just what our group excels at right?"

Kaida kind of chuckled at Stratos' comment about that being what they excelled at cause he was kind of right. She scratched her nose and said, "Man, we wander aimlessly until we find the right path. We just kind of help out aimlessly hoping it'll lead us to the goal. Really we should have been called the aimless ones or something. Instead we've got the... what does SOS stand for again?" Kaida shrugged and said, "I don't know, I just know it seemed like..." she looked down at her wrist quickly trying to make it seem casual before continuing, "...Hikaru named us, you know? What is it... I just know SOS for save our souls..." Kaida drifted off and looked horrified and asked, "Wait, are we the Symphony of Sorcerers? I wasn't prepared for the magic test. Is this why..." Kaida looked at her wrist again and continued, "...Hikaru suddenly became a mystic class when he was a guardian?"

Stratos joined in on Kaida's chuckling at how poorly they were named, before saying, "Servants of Sanctuary...I think. Pretty sure it was Dreamer, that dude in the white cloak that told us what it was. But," the boy continued to chuckle at the memories of the world they reached via ink blot. "Yeah, that place was pretty rough...for all of us. But, I'm sure he'd have gone and aced it, or at least did way better than us. We weren't exactly the most magically inclined party." With an amused smile on his face he asked, "think we'd pass with flying colors now?"

Kaida thought about his question for a second before saying in a question, "Maybe? Hm... a lot easier but I'm not sure about flying colors." she shrugged and said, "Admittedly I was hoping to try and get in a little training for taking hits since I don't do that very well. Maybe after some of that it'd be a flying colors deal." she stretched a bit and let out a yawn and said, "Or maybe we're so powerful now we don't even need to take a hit at all. Knock it down before it has the chance to flinch. Depends on how resistant they are to certain magic. I could probably keep casting stopga and we could hit it until it dies."
