Kingdom Hearts: SfE Part 2 - The Final Keyhole and the Mark of Mastery

The Heartless fled, seaking new Prey. In the trees something swiftly moved through the trees to look around. It was kind of like a monkey heartless, but it was pure black and grey. Its amber eyes glowed through the trees shadows. It fired a shuriken at a tree trunk Kairi ran past, sensing light. The Heartless suddenly sensed danger, fleeing.

Just in time to, as a piercing cry was heard in the skies. a wyvern had stayed put, but it wasn't normal. Its was a mix of red and dark red, beak sharp and eyes a yellow orange. The wyvern monster was in a rage, tearing through anything that got in its way.

Sora shivered, feeling like something was wrong. what...what was that...?

 

The Heartless shrank back into the shadows, traveling through them across the area.

Kairi stopped to rest. "What am I going to tell Sora? If he finds out about Riku, who knows how it'll affect the baby..." The Heartless climbed through Kairi's shadow on the tree behind her. It held its clawed feet near the girl's head. Kairi turned around be saw nothing. The Heartless shrank back in the shadows just in time. "Must have imagined it..."

 

The Ninja-like heartless saw Kairi, following her through the trees. Maybe if it followed her, she would lead it to more beings of light.

Meanwhile the Wyvern was fighting with other Heartless in a fury, clearly showing its dominance. It noticed people, deciding to wait for the opportune moment.

Sora couldn't help but feel like something was wrong, but turned it's attention to the white mushroom. he had already done two of the charades on his own, but the 3rd... He couldn't figure out the charade for water... "Water..."he shot a small water ball to douse the flame. Instead of elixirs, the white mushroom rewarded Sora with a few ethers.

 

Eden nodded to the mushrooms, patting one on the head. "Dear little heartless, thank you for assisting us, but we should be on o--" The screech of the Wyvern hit her ears, forcing her to look at the empty city sky. "No..." she mumbled, wanting to run back to the others. "Sora, Ellen, Andrew..." Her voice deeply saddened at the latter name, giving him one of the tightest hugs and the most emotional one. "Me and Nexas, I'm sorry Sora but I think we have to check on the others. Something doesn't feel right, I can almost smell it." Having been a heartless once, Eden was starting to notice the scent of darkness, but it was an odd, ever shifting scent. It was as if honey, cookies, and every imaginable sweet were all made at once, and the powerful aroma was sickening at times. "Just... Keep Andrew safe. Ellen, keep them safe." And so, Eden and Nexas started running off, the gold keychain of the King held tightly in her hand. Please, Mickey. I know I'm not a Keybearer, but this time I must use it. My family is in danger and I have to help them.

 

Andrew looked at Eden sadly as she released from the hug. A tear formed and fell to the floor as Eden turned away and began to run. 'Separated once again,' the young teen thought with a sigh. 'Please come back safely, Eden.' He grabbed the handle of his sheathed katana, gripping it tightly. Andrew was tempted to run after Eden, but released his grip and thought it was for the best that he went along with the plan. Turning away from everyone else, Andrew sat in a chair with arms curled around his legs like he was a baby in the fetal position.

 

OOC:Where did the chair come from? We're in the middle of...the jungle basically._.;
BIC:"E-Eden!"Sora was suprised. Sure he sensed something was wrong but with a Heartless like a Wyvern out there... He knew how powerful those things could be...

 

Eden ran closer to the heartless, her heart on fire and her lungs grasping for air, legs aching, and eyes watering to the point she could only see blurs... and yet, she felt better then ever. She was going to fight, to save what little family she had. The heart of a lion, a hat had told her. And maybe in this instant... she believed it.
But sadly, her vision of happiness was quickly brought to reality by Nexas' hard jump into the cluster, the darkness around them curling to his whim as he held them back. "Good job, hun! Just get me to anyone!" He nodded, and did as told, protecting the weaponless teen who was to fight war.

Sora stayed put, not really sure what to do, staying put. Riku, Be careful...He said to Riku. Silence.... Riku? Sora was alittle nervous that Riku wasn't responding.

 

OOC: White Mushrooms got Riku, Jeffrey, and Valerie high off elixirs and their team got ambushed by Heartless. They got turned into Heartless, but Kairi escaped.
BIC: Kairi could see Sora in the distance and paused. "How can I explain this to him? There's no telling how he'll react..."

 

Sora noticed Kairi, alittle confused. "Kairi, hey!"he waved to her, smiling in relief. "Shouldn't you be with Riku and the others? Riku isn't answering me..."he said.

 

"Hey, Sora," Kairi said, stumbling a bit as she walked up to him. "About Riku and the others..." She told the Keyblade Wielder of their friends' fate as gently as she could. "I'm sorry. Riku told me to run..." She bit her bottom lip.

The Heartless's eyes flashed blue for a second. Light... a voice called to it. A strong light...

 

Within the middle of the dark beings, ready to eat more, a heart burned brightest for such a small ember. "Get away!" Eden grunted, fighting off multiple heartless of all sizes and shapes. Even a Large Body, though he looked quite thin at the moment, making him a much harder target.

 

The Ninja heartless was watching Kairi with interest, not seeing the feline-like heartless. Heart...My heart!Its eyes flashed a mako color.

Sora took in what Kairi said, shaking. "You mean... No...No! That couldn't have.... N-Not Riku..."Sora was trembling, hands over his stomach. "How could they... do that? I...I thought the white mushrooms... Its..."Sora was fighting off the urge to cry, his body trembling.

The Wyvern noticed Eden and cried out, waiting for just the right moment to strike. Thats when he fealt another light... a light of a heart in pain... The wyvern shrieked, heading toward the source.

 

Eden noticed the Wyvern, seeing the direction it was heading. "Oh no... No no no no no. NEXAS!" She called out, allowing Nexas to pause a moment... and a moment was all they needed to destroy that nobody into nothing. "NO!" she screamed, not allowing someone to be lost. His body slowly was absorbed by the darkness swirling around him, and a little bit of the light within her. So this is real pain, was one of the few thoughts she had.

 

Kairi couldn't help but hug her friend. "Do you remember when you were a Heartless, Sora?" She could feel tears running down her cheeks. "Remember how I brought you back? Maybe the same thing can happen for them..."

The Heartless could sense another's dark presence, but it could not spot the Ninja Heartless's location

 

Sora looked around, shivering. "W-Where are they though. Who knows how being a Heartless has affected them...Oh gosh, what if they went after Eden?!"Sora gasped. "What if they go after us?"at that moment Sora could hear the Wyverns shriek, noticing that it sounded closer. "We should go..."Sora went from devastated to terrified.

The ninja heartless decided to flee, knowing that the Wyvern would overpower it easily. It sensed Eden, targeting her next.

 

"But if we go, then it might get Eden, too!" Kairi replied. "And if we run away, it can still catch up to us."

The cat-like Heartless shrank back into the shadows, terrified of the Wyvern's call.

 

Eden could only cry as her empty arms still felt heavy from the nobody's weight, she didn't even care to notice the heartless weren't coming for her... yet. But still, the rage started to grow, her hands felt warm, the King's pocketed keychain felt on fire.

Someone had killed a mother's cub.

 

"Eden! Oh no! We have to warn her!"Sora gasped, running the direction Eden went. The heartless ninja noticed Sora, not wanting a keyblade master to interfere. It shot a shuriken as a warning before speeding off. Sora barely dodged the shuriken, gasping in suprise. "what in the world...?!"

More Wyverns appeared at the sight of the hearts, but this Wyvern was in an uncontrollable rage. It showed its dominance, dealing almost fatal damage to any competition. Kill more...Kill more! My hearts, MINE! it cried out in rage.
