Kingdom Hearts: SfE Part 2 - The Final Keyhole and the Mark of Mastery

"Sora, Riku! There you are!"Valerie had located Sora and Riku, hands on her hips. "What are you doing here?"Riku asked. "Looking for you... no thanks to my detectives... We gotta get to the gummi ship! You guys have to take your Mark of Mastery exam!"Valerie protested. "How am I supposed to take the exam like this?"Sora gestured to his large belly. "We could stay in Twilight Town until you deliver. Now Come oooon, or Gex and Eden are gonna leave without us!"Valerie said.

"No..."Sora frowned. "But guuuuys, We already saved the island and everything. There is nothing to do heeere!"Valerie said. "Yes, but wouldn't you want your child to be born where you grew up?"Sora asked. "Fine, you can stay here. But Riku, you at least gotta cooome!"Valerie whined. Riku shook his head. "I'm staying with Sora."he said. "uuugh! I thought you two were supposed to defend the universe?!"Valerie snapped.

"Well the baby comes first right now...."Riku said. "Fine! See if I care. Me, Jeffrey, and Kairi will save the universe with Gexln and Eden."Valerie decided to give up. "Yeah, good luck with that...."Riku smirked. "Oh, we'll be fine. Have fun living the boring life whiloe we're having an adventure!"Valerie went off to the docks to get to the play island before she got left behind by Gexln and Eden.

Selphie went to go find Kairi and Jeffrey to tell them what happened, Irvine going back to repairs.

 

After a long time of just pondering, Eden glanced at the island she almost destroyed, and the sand beneath her feet. She hadn't borrowed Riku's shoes, as it would be awkward to move, but the sand beneath her feet was still warm. She tried to focus her primal magic, if one could even call it that, and lit herself on fire.
Focusing on control rather then power, eyes glowing with the same dark tint the flames acquired. It was obvious something changed, for better or for worse.

 

"Val..." Jeffrey called after her. He decided to follow her. Getting in front of her, he blocked your path. "I know you want to help the worlds, but we can't just leave two of the Keyblade Wielders behind. We spent almost a year saving Earth, a few days more won't do any harm."

 

Valerie sighed as Jeffrey stopped her. "Alright... But if Eden and Gexln leaves without us I am blaming all of ya'lls!"she added. "Yes, V-chan..."Sora chuckled. Riku just rolled his eyes. "Sora Rikaru Jiyataro!" Sora squeaked at his full name being called, turning to see his mom. "H-Hi momma... I was on my way, I swear!"he said. "Sora... I know you don't want to be left out of the activities, but you have to see the doctor. Gotta make sure the baby is healthy!"Sora's mother scolded.

"Sora, why didn't you tell me that...?"Riku gave Sora a small look. "Because...because..."Sora got an idea. "Because I wanted Valerie and the others to see too! I mean, they've grown as attached to the kid as we have. Right guys?"He asked. "uh...right?"Valerie frowned in confusion.

 

"Er... right..." Jeffrey replied, his eyes looking away from the Keyblade Wielder. Well, it looks like we don't have any way of getting out of this...

 

"Alright...."Sora's mother sighed. "Now come on, the doctors waiting..." "Coming momma!"Sora grabbed Riku by the arm, then Kairi by her arm to drag them off. Valerie sighed, follwing the trio with a small chuckle. "Maybe we'll get to finnaly see if its a boy or a girl before he or she is born."she said. "It'll probably be a girl. Oh, and she is going to be spoiled by Aunty Kairi..."Riku sighed.

 

"I bet the baby will be spoiled by its 'aunts' whether it's a boy or a girl," Jeffrey said. "Well, I'm feeling a girl, too," Kairi added. And... I guess I would spoil them...

 

"So I guess we're all hoping on the baby being a girl?"Valerie asked. "Seems like it."Sora chuckled.

"Oh my gosh, Sora! Look at how big you are!"The doctor checking up on Sora was female, and amazed look on her face. "Helloooo Doc!"Valerie joked, giving a small chuckle. "Alright, don't tell me you dragged all of them with you because you didn't want to see me."The doctor sighed. "of course not, Dr.Rhuneth..."Sora smiled. Riku gave a small chuckle. Liar.... "Alright, you know I can only fit you and two of them in my examination room. Riku and Kairi as usual?" "Uh-huh..."Sora was blushing slightly.

"Hey! Don't we get a say in this?"Valerie asked. "Sorry Valerie."Riku said. "Alright, come on. Your lucky the hospitals still in good condition after that monster attacked..."Dr.Rhuneth mentioned fro the trio to come into the room. Sora went in first, lying on his back. Riku joined him. "Alright. I see how it is. Leave us bored to tears, why don't you..."Valerie huffed.

 

Kairi walked into the room after Riku, sitting near them.

"So... what are we going to do while we wait?" Jeffrey asked. "Read old magazines?" he joked.

 

"I got no-"Valerie realized something, gasping. "Oh my gosh, where's Chester?!"she squeaked.

"Alright, lay down...and stop moving around. Nothings going to hurt..."Dr.Rhuneth saw Sora squirming slightly. "S-Sorry, just trying to get comfy..."Sora muttered. The ultrasound machine was turned on. "Alright, shirt up..." "no." "Sora, doctors orders... and it's just the stomach...."Riku sighed, lifting Sora's shirt for the doctor. "Thank you Riku..."Dr.Rhuneth smiled. "Now, this miiight be alittle cold..." "what might be-ah!"Sora yelped as the cool clear gel was put on his stomach. "That was cold!"he whined.

"I warned you..Now will you please hold still?"Dr.Rhuneth asked. "Yes mam..."Sora said, Riku grabbing Sora by the arm to calm him down. As the 'probe-looking thing'- from what Sora dubbed it as-was moved around his stomach the image of the child inside shown clear as day. "ah! Its her...or him! her? him? Um..." "It's a girl. If it was a boy you'd definately be able to tell..."the doctor said. "ha! Riku, look at her! She-"Sora turned his attention to Riku, seeing the silverette staring at the screen.

"Ri?" "I-I'm fine..."Riku snapped out of his trance. "Well, she sure is healthy... I'd say she might be due in a couple of days, no more than fourteen. So no heavy lifting, no combat, and definately no gummi travel until you've delivered." "Yes mam..."Sora sighed as the doctor cleaned off Sora's stomach. "alright. You're free at last Sora. but remember what I said." "yes mam..." "what, no being put on bed rest?"Riku asked. "With Sora's stubborness?" "Touche`..."

 

Eden fired up even farther, seeing how far her control could go before it became a blitz. It was very visible to the mainlands, and she was almost able to regulate white hot temperatures when- poof. The flame stayed at a red, but it's conjurer was in that dazed state of almost bliss. It went out, leaving an almost breathless Wielder of Earth lying on the ground to try and regain her composure to even retry her "training" once more.

 

"So! So, so so so so?!"Valerie smiled when the trio left the examination room. "Its a girl..."Sora said shyly, blushing. "Due in a few days from what the doctor said."Riku added. "Yes! Haha! Next stop, Twilight Town!"Valerie smiled. "As soon as we find Chester!" "Um...we can't leave yet."Sora said. "What? why not?!"Valerie asked. "The doctor said no gummi travel until he's delivered. we can't have a mark of mastery exam with only one candidate...."Riku said.

"But Eden and Gexln have the gummi ship! Do you realize whats going to happen if we're not over to them soon? They are going to leave without us."Valerie huffed. "Eden wouldn't do that..."Sora frowned. "Old Eden wouldn't. But New Eden will."Valerie sighed. "We only have to wait until Sora has the baby and has fully recovered from the labor..."Riku said. Valerie whined in protest, not wanting to be left out of the heartless fighting....

 

Eden gazed at the slightly scorched Gummi, watching the main islands and Gexln who seemed to just be frozen in time. "Gex, well, farewell. Find me later, do what you can." Looking for the main hull, she entered and looked around the sleek technology. "Gummi, how do I start this thing now? Voice activation? Gummi, set new location: Radiant Garden!"

 

"Passenger count invalid."The robotic voice of the gummi replied. "Sensors read no sign of the two keyblade masters....Do you still want to take flight without the passengers?"

"She's gone crazy...." "Big time..."Sora and Riku were on the beach, watching Valerie try and head to the play island by herself. "Well I am NOT going to be left out of the action. So arriverderci!"Valerie was doing her best to control the boat she had. Suddenly a large wave took her and her boat, sending them overboard out in the water. "agh! Heeey! No fair!"Valerie yelled. "Want me to get her?"Riku asked.

"Please? Before she drowns herself..."Sora chuckled. Riku sighed, swimming out to rescue Valerie. He got the boat right side up, carrying her to keep her afloat. "Let me go! If you're gonna swim, take me to the gummi ship!"Valerie protested. Riku, however, headed for shore since it was closer. "If you want to go by yourself, you could've asked one of us to take you."Riku said, giving a small huff.

"You don't mind them leaving you here?"Valerie asked. "Well, as long as you come back for us once Sora's had the baby."Riku said. "How are we supposed to know when THAT happens?"Valerie asked. "We still have the communicator. We'll keep in contact..."Riku made it to the point where Valerie could stand in the water, stopping. Valerie let go, crossing her arms.

"You don't HAVE to go by yourself, you know. you could always wait here. Don't you wanna see the normal life of Destiny Islands?"Sora asked. Valerie looked to the island, sighing in defeat. "Fine...."Suddenly the Shadow came to them from the town, a shadow rising from the sand. "ah, there you are, Chester..."Valerie picked up the small heartless. "Great! Problem solved."Sora said.

"No it isn't!"Valerie snapped. Riku just put a hand over her mouth to keep her from complaining.

 

"Yes, I wish to proceed the flight. I am a valid Keyblade Wielder, as they are. Those two aren't Masters." Eden almost snarled at the automic response system. "Now please, let's get going, time is of the essence."

 

You really ought to learn how to swim... Jeffrey told Valerie in his mind. "I guess that means we're stuck here even after the baby's born until she comes back, doesn't it...?

 

"Understood. Preparing for take off..."The gummis area seemed to change, appearing smaller than if the whole group was in the gummi.

"gaaaaah! I knew it!"Valerie groaned when the gummi took off. "Oh well. They'll come back for us..."Sora shrugged. "Well the repairs are almost complete around town. I wonder what kind of reward everyone will have for us..."Riku sighed. "Reward?"Valerie asked. "The last time the mayor gave a speech congradulating us on our defeat of Organization XIII. It was boring."Sora said. "Maybe they'll throw something more exciting this time..."Riku said.

bic: Eden took a slight deep breath at the sudden change of the gummi, but went into the fridge to create some sort of meal to find a lot of rotten food still. She gagged at the stench, sensitive due to her body naturally compensating for her mental faults. She cleaned out the fridge, grumbling to herself about her highschool month in her favorite school where she had to clean an industrial sized fridge. She managed to clean the now empty and almost pristine fridge, throwing away the garbage. "That is all I can do..." she mumbled, looking around at the other small tidbits she could munch on. She looked at Riku's clothes, then went to the other parts of the gummi before realizing it was useless. "Right, right, none of the clothes fit me, and I'd burn them into ashes..."
Still, she was determined to get clean. So she picked out a gray, dull outfit of a shirt and a pair of shorts, a bathrobe of the same bland color, and looked for any sort of cleaning device to wash the clothes. Upon further inspection, she realized how much the garbs had actually been through, singed, cut, caked in mud, grime, dead skin, scabs, and blood.
Blood... She almost forgets the healing scratch that was caused from a neoshadow in Australia, and the scab had intertwined with the fabric of Riku's clothes, now ripped off and freshly bleeding. This caused an immediate reaction to get into the shower, scrubbing away all the caked grime on her that scrubs off in thick gooey clumps that have a hard time going down the drain. Once the shower is finished, she looks to her body, wet from the water, but she looks at herself nonetheless.

This is Eden, or, another her. Her eyes have darkened, the whites of a human now a dark gray, which don't distract the sunken eyes of a tired insomniac. Her once slightly pudged belly is now growing thin and quickly. Her ribs show, her legs grow thinner as her defending arms became bony. She really hadn't paid any attention to the changes, and why should she? "Oh right..." She murmurs with a grimace, recalling a tv show that showed an experiment of a few people with different skill sets surviving in a post-apocalyptic environment. Scientists, Therapists, and some other Experts that had escaped her mind, had all told of the different effects.
Slipping on the bathrobe, she goes and retrieves her now clean clothes, carefully noting how each fabric folds onto her skin. "Funny..." she mutters again, talking to herself. "I've never been put into a situation like The Colony's... but with the way things have been, I might as well have." She looks in the mirror, scowling at herself. "Well, like we do on Earth, Survival of the Fittest."

 

OOC:It does sound arrogant, but it is Riku.... One of his negative traits.:\

When the group got back into town after the gummi ship took off there was a bit of a suprise. It looked like the residents were preparing for some big event. "Whats going on?"Sora asked. "The mayor said we're going to have a celebration in a few days to congradulate everyone for doing their hard work restoring the island!"Selphie explained. "Not sure if it's a good thing to celebrate about, but it's something positive..."Irvine said.

"A celebration?"Valerie looked around, a bit in awe. Sora gave a wide grin. "A celebration! See? Now you'll really get to see what life is like on Destiny Islands!" "Well, when it's not being attacked by heartless."Riku added, looking around. "Yeesh, you always have to be a downer about everything, don't you?"Valerie asked. "Well there has to be someone serious in this group of nut cases...."Riku shook his head.

 

Eden walked around the gummi, her legs too pained from adrenaline to sleep properly. "Gummi, how long until our Destination?" Her words were direct.
