Kingdom Hearts: SfE Part 2 - The Final Keyhole and the Mark of Mastery

Gexln, still melded into the ground, remained still. If they jumped, he would have no choice of what to do. However, he liked messing with peoples' minds, so he began to quietly speak the language of the heartless. "Ah young keyblade wielder, you are so weak and foolish" he said, just loudly enough that Riku would hear him but not know where he was.

 

"We have company!"Irvine spotted the heartless, getting his rifle. The people that couldn't fight rushed to hide, Sora going with his parents. "Guys, look out!"Selphie said to Valerie and Jeffrey. "Gexln! Leave the people of this world alone!"Riku growled. "I'm coming dooown!"Valerie said. Riku heard this, catching Valerie as she jumped so the girl wouldn't hurt herself. "Why didn't you jump in the water?"he asked. "That is classified information."Valerie said.

 

Valdis still dove, snatching up one unlucky soul that didn't run or fight back quickly enough. With a loud scree, she surveyed the area. Unsure of the next part of the plan, she examined the human in her large talons.

 

"Too late, people here have already had their hearts taken" Gexln said. He surfaced from his melded state, and leapt off the island straight towards Riku with Darkness' Sorrow aimed down, attempting to fracture the skull.

 

"Protega!"Riku cast a barrier around himself and Valerie. "Heeey! let that person go!"Selphie yelled at the bird. Irvine fired a shot, hoping to catch the birds attention.

 

Jeffrey jumped down into the water right next to the shore. Standing up, he drew his katana.

Kairi summoned Destiny's Embrace and ran up near Irvine. "Water!" an orb of water shot out of the Keyblade straight for the Heartless's wings.

 

Valdis shrugged, pecking out the heart of the human, swallowing it with pleasure. Whatever was left of the fading body she dropped to the bonfire below. She swooped down, looking for another poor soul, setting herself ablaze to find it easier.

 

"Everyone! Short range attackers focus on Gexln! Long range attackers focus on the heartless!"Riku commanded. Selphie went over to Valerie, casting a protect spell on herself. Riku stayed put, wanting to rid of the traitor himself. Irvine stayed put, firing shots at the bird.

Everyone who couldn't fight had managed to hide, Sora staying with his parents, the mayor, and Rikus mother.

 

"Master, climb upon when you can." Valdis urged, starting a fire tornado around the tents keeping everyone inside. The sand bubbled and oozed, and the tents started to alight into larger bonfires themselves.

 

"I'd tell you to feel guilty about this," Jeffrey told Gexln. "But I know you can't!" He stayed in a defensive position.

This time Kairi fired a Blizzard spell at the Phoenix Heartless, hoping for it to freeze some of the feathers. Lulu held her Moogle doll in her right hand and grabbed her necklace, a pentagram in a circle. She launched a Thunder spell at the Heartless. Waka threw his blitzball up into the air and kicked it towards the Phoenix as its landed.

 

"Protega!"Sora and Riku both cast barriers with the firey infernos, keeping as many people safe as they could. "Riku, hang on!"Selphie cast a protect spell on Riku so any attacks wouldn't harm him. "You're going down, Gexln! and so is that bird!"Valerie yelled.

 

The Blizzard spell dissipated from the inferno of Valdis's body. However, the Thunder spell and Blitzball did cause her to slightly flinch. You have to stop... With a now very real pain, the great Pheonix held back a bit, landing on the ground. She glared at the humans, through narrowed slits that showed real anger.

 

"Thats it! Keep it up!"Riku kept his focus on the protega. Irvine kept firing at the bird to weaken it more. "Are you thinking what I'm thinking?"Valerie asked. "Uh-huh!"Selphie nodded. "Thunder!"Both of them shot thunder spells at the bird heartless to stun it.

 

OOC: So, bringing in other characters to fight? Fine, two can play at that game. I hope you enjoy. Also, Chester would hear the call, but you can choose how he reacts :P there is a way around this, just gotta find it ;)

IC: "Valdis, i am going to try something i've never done before. Should this go badly, i trust you to finish the keybearers off" Gexln said. He took a deep breath. Placing both palms on the ground and turning into dark form simultaneously, Gexln began to yell out in the heartless tongue. "Heartless of both near and far, heed my cry! One of your own is under attack whilst you cease to assist! Gather here my brethren, smite these keybearers and their allies, and you shall have their hearts!" he yelled, collapsing onto his knees. The effort had taken alot of energy out of him, draining him and reducing his ability to fight, but he had done it. Shadows and Neoshadows began to form from the ground, arising to assist Valdis.

 

"Crap!" Several Neoshadows were surrounding Jeffrey. Think, Jeffrey, think... He had to find some sort of a spell to take these out all at once. Erm... Quake? "Well, it's worth a shot!" He stabbed his katana into the ground. "Quake!" The ground around him and the Neoshadows cracked and shook. Chunks of earth dislodged by the spell destroyed the Heartless. But there were still plenty more besides the ones that attacked him, and he could feel sweat pouring down his face from the spell.

 

The firey inferno was over with, Sora and Riku stopping the spell so everyone could land safely. "You're not ruining these islands!"Riku yelled, slashing through the heartless with Way to Dawn. "Yeah! We won't let any creatures take over our home world!"Selphie attacked the heartless with her nunchaku. "We're an island full of proud people, you can never ruin that!"Irvine shot at the heartless with his rifle. "And you guys are going to fall, no matter what!"Valerie kept her focus on Gexln. "Including you, traitor!"

Meanwhile Chester had heard the call, and it knew exactly what the heartless were aiming for. The keyblade masters trusted him, the humans were the only 'family' it knew at this point other than it's old pack. There was no way it would let the humans get hurt, but it didn't know what to do...

 

Gexln lifted up Darkness' Sorrow, puffing. He was not finished yet. Adrenaline was rushing throughout his body, keeping him standing. "I...am no traitor..i never swore allegiance to anyone" Gexln said. He raised his hand into the air. "You're going to see just how strong darkness truly is" he stated.

 

"Hey, Tidus!" Wakka called to his friend, spinning his blitzball on the tip of his index finger. "You up for this?" "You bet!" The boy replied. Wakka kicked the ball towards Tidus, smashing through Heartless on its way. The two passed it back and forth, destroying any Heartless in its path. Lulu's Moogle doll did its best to attack the Heartless, while its owner cast volleys of Fire and Thunder spells.

 

"Bring it on...."Valerie got her daggers. "We trusted you...."Riku growled, taking Way to Dawn. Sora had a barrier around the people, protecting them from the heartless attacking. "You're going down! You and the giant bird!"Selphie said, taking her nunchaku. Irvine carefully aimed his rifle at the giant heartless, aiming for the area the heart would be. He fired a shot, hoping it would be a hit that would end it.

 

Gexln slamme the palm of his right hand onto the ground. Using the last reserves of his energy, he summoned another heartless. But it was no ordinary heartless, it was a heartless in the shape..of Sora. Gexln had successfully recreated Anti Sora. "You shall be their doom...do not fail me.." Gexln said, collapsing onto the ground, unconscious.
