Kingdom Hearts: SfE Part 2 - The Final Keyhole and the Mark of Mastery

Sora sighed, glad they were at a clear area of the vast area. Suddenly the black Wyvern landed at the group, glad to find its pray. "Craaaaaap!"Valerie seemed a bit panicked. Sora gasped. Where's Kairi...? The Wyvern looked at Sora, sensing that he...knew the prey. But what did it care, the boy was beaming with light to feast on.

Valerie took out her daggers, ready to battle. Sora kept Oblivion out, casting a protect spell for the childs safety.

 

Jeffrey's hands tightened around the katana, and he gulped. This Wyvern, whether or not it was Riku, was definitely the strongest Heartless they'd seen in South America.

Kairi had gotten lost in search of the group. She turned around at the sound of the Wyvern, sensing something was wrong. Sora! She ran towards the source of the noise, hoping she could make it in time.

 

Eden put herself in front of Sora, her glare was piercing the Wyvern's own. If looks could kill, then Hell would be a heaven as opposed to what she wanted to do to it. She now hated Wyverns, with her very soul. Her stance was lanky, loose, and whip-like. It was very clear, a battle for who would keep the light.

 

Valerie hopped as high as she could when the Wyvern charged at her, actually landing on the heartless' back as it went back into the air. The heartless cried out in agony for some reason. Valerie noticed scars on the Wyverns back, eyes widening in realization. "Hey guys! Its-"she yelped as the Wyvern did an aerial corkscrew to get her off.

"Are you okay?!"Sora asked. "Yeah...ow. But anyway. That Wyvern is Riku! he has the scars on his back and everything!"Valerie said. Sora froze, eyes going wide. "R-Riku...?"His voice cracked, almost like he was trying not to cry. "RIKU!"He cried out. The heartless that was once Riku was too enraged to listen to Sora. It wanted its prey dead. It wanted to feed off the lights in their hearts...

 

Eden glanced at everyone, then back to the Heartless of Riku. "Tch, let's just get this over with." The first immeadiate thing she could do? Try to pin him down. Easier said then done, as he always snapped at her and made sure he was just a bit too far from reach.

 

Sora was frozen by a mix of shock and fear. "Sora, Move!"Valerie was trying to calm the heartless of Riku down, but the more they did to calm it down the more the creature got agitated. The heartless let out a shrill cry, noticing one of the prey was frozen. My prey....

 

A small wall of water erupted in front of the wyvern. Kairi ran up to the group, panting slightly. "Founds you guys..." She turned to the angered wyvern. "And just in time, too."

 

"Be careful, thats Riku!"Sora screamed, after what seemed like an eternity of silence. You could definately hear the panic in his voice. and who could blame him. Not only did his best friend turned lover turn into a heartless, but a very powerful one at that. It proved how strong Rikus darkness, and Sora hated it. He didn't like that he lost Riku. He just couldn't believe that the monster before him was...was... "Sora! Snap out of it!"Valerie's voice brought Sora back to reality.

The Wyvern cried out in rage, taking to the skies. A princess... Oh, this will be fun! so much fun! It charged towards Kairi. "Thunder!"Valerie cast a thunder spell, striking the heartless in the back. The wyvern cried out in agony, barely able to recover before it crashed to the ground.

 

"We have to find some way to bring him back," Jeffrey told Sora. "Obviously a hug won't work at the moment. Any ideas?"

 

Eden had almost forgotten herself, standing still glaring at the beast of Riku. What she could do, and what would probably make Sora hate her forever... But she decided to go with it anyway, as she could not bear to just watch. With her trembling hands, she immediately pinned him to the ground with her thick weight. Holding the mighty Keyblade high up(which was now representing Kingdom Key), she slashed the weakened Wyvern, finishing him. A little heart floated off, but not too quick for her to snatch it.

 

The what wasn't seen floating away with the hard was a dark flame, just like the one that happened when Valerie changed back to normal. Sora screamed as Eden finished off the wyvern, feeling as if the last of his sanity went with the slayed Heartless. "Riku... No, no, no... Not Riku... Please no."Sora burst into tears, shaking his head. "Sora..."Valerie held a comforting hand out to Sora. "DON'T TOUCH ME!"Sora snapped, pushing Valerie away. His body was extremely stressed, which was definately bad for the baby inside him. Sora just cried, in a constant chant of "no...No...oh please no..."

 

Kairi walked over to Sora and grabbed his hand. "Sora, calm down," she tried to soothe him. "Eden still has his heart. We just have to find some way to bring back. He's not gone, he's not..." She didn't want to say the word "dead".

 

Sora was still sobbing, definately on the breaking point. His stomach was starting to cramp up, the baby not taking to the stress well. It was a warning message-any more stress put on Sora and the brunette would lose the baby. "Sora, you need to calm down. Don't forget about the baby..."Valerie wrapped her arms around Sora in an attempt to calm the older male down.

 

Eden glanced at Sora, sighing. She looked to the little heart, petting it a bit. "Shadow, you'll be just fine. If he can't bring you back, you'll just live with me a while." she muttered, mostly to herself. "Sora! Stop blubbering, I would never kill him. You wouldn't be able to get close without getting killed. Here." She handed him the heart, the Reversed Kingdom Key vanishing, it's purpose served once more for now as it reverted to a keychain.

BIC:Sora looked at the heart, taking it in his hands. He held it close, feeling its warmth. "Oh, Riku..."he whispered, the warmth of Rikus heart calming him down. "So now what? How can we change Riku back?"Valerie huffed, out of ideas.

 

"If anything, I can return the favor of what he did to me." Eden's gaze was cold, even her mouth was put into a deep frown. Her arms crossed, her body strict, she could be terrifying. "I owe him anyway." she bluntly remarked. "Just until we find something for him."

 

"You...You...You..."Sora looked at Eden. "How could you do that! I know that Wyverns are dangerous but that was RIKU! You KNEW it was! and you knew that one of us could've been able to save him and get him back to normal! Are you insane?!"Sora went from upset to furious in an instant, still holding the heart close. "Sora, think about the baby..."Valerie said, not wanting Sora to do anything he would regret.

 

Eden did not flinch, staring directly at Sora. "I lost more people today then you may very well imagine. I am NOT in a mood to be trifled with, and YOU, Sora, Keybearer, know the risks of being a heartless! I KNOW TOO! It went like this as well! So what was I to choose? You dead and Riku a heartless forever? Or at least keep his heart safe?! I HAD NO CHOICE!"

 

Sora froze, knowing Eden had a point. "I know, I know... I'm sorry. It's just.... With what's going on now and the baby....I'm just a wreck..."Sora felt guilty for yelling. "Its okay, Sora.... We know that the pregnancy's starting to take its toll on you..."Valerie still had Sora in a warm hug.

 

"Sora, look, we can't protect a raw heart forever. One of us will have to house it within ourselves. Sora, I don't think you should be the one, as you have more then enough to deal with." Eden sighed, sitting on the ground. Her long, drawn out breath easily showed her frustration and annoyment.
